4 months before a booked tour we received life changing news that makes it impossible to go on the the tour. Triple bypass surgery will prevent us from our participation in the upcoming tour. So we called to canceled with a 4 month notice, and this company has no compasión or heart. It's all about their bottom line, They said we are keeping your $2,000 deposit. They have plenty of time to rebook someone on their waiting list, but they would just as soon profit off from others suffering. I would not recommend ever traveling with a company with no heart. We recently returned from an 18 day Italy/Greece/Turkey tour with Fun for Less. It was incredible! Our tour managers were George and Clarisse Dyer, and they were the absolute best! Positive attitudes, much service for us daily, and a song for each excursion or event. George is an amazingly talented vocalist and lifted us each day. No matter how long or busy we were, he never complained, led with jokes, offered his help continually and then sang with power that left us amazed. Clarisse also sang and was very personable. In addition, we were fortunate to be treated to several lectures given by Michael Wilcox that explained the areas, prominent individuals in history, and important lessons to be learned. His recall is wonderful, and his presentations so worthwhile. The Fun for Less excursion package saved us hundreds of dollars and were so well done. The trip covered every city and port I had wanted. Not happy with the experience I had with this company. The David Butler tour was canceled because of everything that was going on in the Middle East. We canceled a few weeks before they officially canceled because of civil unrest and I get that there is a "non refundable deposit" but also this is a trip YOUR COMPANY offered that YOU ultimately canceled as well because of safety concerns. They offer other trips but that's not what my family wants to experience and now we have conflicting dates or trips that sold out. If you don't use the deposit within two years you lose it. Super frustrating when we are planning a trip for 6 people. They have our $3,000 deposit and I think this all could have been handled much better. We have been with FFL on a number of tours - Israel, Egypt, China, England and US locations. They do a great job - but you need to understand what you are getting. The company has an LDS (Latter-Day-Saint) orientation. That means that there are things like prayers and testimonies of the LDS faith, and if that makes you uncomfortable you should probably pick another company. Our tour guide on two occasions was Glenn Rawson who is excellent. They also have an assigned couple to assist you during the tour - who are helpful coordinating things like meals, buses and hotels, but are really just on the tour with you. On our last tour we had two buses of 40 each - which is a lot of people. On that tour the husband of the "assist" couple got sick and had to go home - which meant the last half of the tour we had to step up and take care of more details ourselves. If you tour with a company like Tauck (we have) you will get more supervision and attention, but you will pay for it. We have been very happy with FFL on our four trips with them - just know what you are getting so you won't be disappointed. Scott L. read more

Our tour with Fun for Less was to France. The tour guide was a Seminary teacher and his wife who had no experience being a tour guide and didn't know anything about the cities we visited. They were nice people and I guess the company expected us to be okay cause the were good LDS. BUYER BEWARE. I had signed up and paid $10,000 for a Tulip Cruise in Amsterdam and Belgium for April 2021with Fun For Less Tours and AMA Waterways. It was canceled because of Covid and money credited for a cruise in April 2022. Now that the CDC recommended NOT taking any cruises because of the risk of Covid I asked for a refund but Fun For Less said it was not possible because AMA Waterways already deposited my money. I will NEVER travel with Fun For Less again! They are awful!! If you have a problem they could care less!! I am currently on a tour through Europe with them and could use some help!! I booked my travel with them and they chose Delta.. Big mistake such a bad airlines! More customer complaints than any other airline company !! They lost my bag.. Four days I have been trying to get it! After spending my days calling and being on hold for 55 minutes and then 42minutes same day . I thought why can't Fun for less help me? If you want to see a lot of a country in a short time and cover all the highlights this is the best tour company. I loved our Italy trip. They showed us all the main tourist attractions with out the long lines. We were moved to the front through side doors. They take very good care of you. I also loved the Amazon trip where we fished for Parana and stopped at little villages along the way. They do everything right and keep you safe and you can leave all the driving up to them. I have been so impressed with this tour company. I have gone on 3 tours with them and loved every trip experience. They think of every detail. Once on our trip to Machu Picchu the South American airline couldn't put 6 of us on the plane. The tour leaders pleaded for us even giving up their flight to stay with us. It all worked out great. I went to China with this company a few years ago. It was a nightmare. The jerk in charge was not capable of telling the truth. There was a constant threat of keep up or be left behind. He also kept making threats about complaining about the trip to the company when we returned to the states. Do yourself a favor, go with a different company. Many of us purchased in advance and paid in full for the 2020 passion play tour booked with Fun For Less Tours. With the onset of the COVID-19 virus and the cancellation of the 2020 passion play we inquired with FFL Tours about a refund. The response we received was a form letter sent to all FFL customers telling us the money for the summer tours has already been paid, they no longer control the money, and " simply put, we do not have your tour or cruise money ...." They then go on in their letter to completely downplay the COVID-19 virus and cite flu season statistics relating to hospitalizations and death. This is shockingly unprofessional and tone deaf. Beyond this, it's hard to believe that every sub tour operator, bus operator, hotel, would uniformly take the position that there is no refund in light of the current environment and the fact that the passion play has been canceled for 2020. Also what about their profit margin on the trip? Are they going to keep that in spite of the fact that these tours will not proceed? Quoting again from their letter, "Somehow, most people seem to not be so afraid of the regular flu near them which they have a much better chance of catching but with a little over 1000 [cases] in Italy getting the virus it seems like the world is coming to an end, especially if you're planning on a trip to Europe." They conclude this letter with this: "those canceling before a trip because of the virus would be subject to our cancellation policy as we would not receive refunds from hotels, airfare, ships, tours, events etc." This was probably the most disrespectful, condescending letter we've ever received from a tour operator. Since receiving this letter we have again requested a refund of the $10,000+ payments we've made for this trip. They continue to stonewall and, I believe, are positioning to stiff customers who have prepaid. We are again asking for our full refund in light of the fact that travel is restricted to Europe now, the uncertainty and health risk presented in traveling overseas in this environment and the fact that the passion play is canceled for 2020. I know they are now talking about a "credit." We don't want a credit this is just robbing Peter to pay Paul. UPDATE: April 6th, Fun For Less Tours has gone radio silent now. Rating Fun for Less Tours so poorly because of how badly they handled the cancelation of the 2020 tours due to covid. They were the only tour company I know of that refused to give refunds or work with customers for alternatives. I was booked with them and another company for international tours that summer. The other company offered choice of full refund, $500 discount if we kept the same tour for later, or discount on choice of other tours. I know many people traveling that summer and all received full refunds from the other companies. Fun for Less Tours was the only company among them that refused refunds. It's very unfortunate that this company has chosen to not even communicate with customers who, in good faith, sent them thousands of dollars. I understand that deposits are required for future travel. I had booked a couple extra nights as part of the Oberammergau tour. I didn't have any problem getting a refund from the play or from the hotel I had booked. I believe that EU law requires such refunds. Obviously it is going to take a lot of work to get refunds on the scale of a large tour. However, my email and telephone contacts with the company suggest they are not even trying. As a lawyer, I can tell you there are options. Usually those options require no more than some negotiating. If TFL signed contracts that give it and it's customers no protection, shame on them. read more

This was our 3rd time using Fun For Less Tours (FFLT) for a cruise. There are so many reasons we like to travel with FFLT. They take care of everything. They take care of all the details like the tips, taxes, port charges, air fare, transfers and hotels. They have a good reputation wherever you go. They send tour guides right along on the trip. We really enjoy the entertainment from Kerry Summers. He is so talented and is knowledgeable about the ports. Loran and Dahlia Swenson were great to keep us on schedule so we could maximize our time and experience all that we could. I love the people that we end up traveling with as a group. FFLT takes all the worry and stress out of cruising. They even give you a lanyard to keep your passport and ship card in. We had such an outstanding time in Alaska. I wish FFLT would give us a magnet to put on our cruise door so everyone could see what a fun tour group we are. We will definitely use Fun For Less Tours again. Fun For Less tours is the most unprofessional tour company that I've ever traveled with. Five guides took our group of 90 people to Italy and Greece. It was a large and unwieldy group. A lot of time was wasted while waiting for this large group to visit the restroom or meet at an appointed time. And of course, you end up paying for all those extra guides. Several people had mobility issues and had to take a taxi on many of the day trips because everyone was expected to walk and no one was allowed to stay on the bus. No mention was made about the level of fitness that was expected on this tour. Be sure you know how many meals Fun For Less will be providing. It wasn't until we received our final paperwork a month before the trip that I found out that the only meals included were the hotel free breakfast and the food on the cruise ship. The paperwork suggested that we bring plenty of snacks because we would be too busy to stop for lunch. Four nights of the land tour, the hotel was far away from any restaurants. Either you could eat at the expensive hotel restaurant or take a taxi to an affordable place to eat. Fun For Less also charged us a $10 insurance fee on our whisper receivers. We could choose not to pay the fee, but if the receiver was lost or broken, we would be charged $300. It felt like I was nicked-and-dimed to death with this company. Two of the guides were unfamiliar with Italy. One of the new guides lead us the wrong way out of the Vatican. The local guide noticed the mistake and came chasing after us. The local guide mentioned something about going out the wrong door from the Sistine Chapel. The Fun For Less guide said "Oh, was THAT the Sistine Chapel?" Honestly, the guide wasn't aware we had just spent a great deal of time in the Sistine Chapel. It boggled my mind. After that, an experienced Fun For Less guide berated the clueless guide for several minutes in front of his clients. I was terribly embarrassed that he didn't reprimand her in private but, I didn't know where the rest of the group was located so I could leave. To my knowledge, none of the Fun For Less guides knew Italian or Greek. There was a couple of mix ups with bus drivers and it made things harder than they had to be. The experienced Fun For Less tour guides were somewhat condescending. After the first hotel, I asked one of them if there was going to be free internet at any of the hotels. She looked at me like I was clueless and told me "This is Europe, there is no free Wifi". I told her that hadn't been my experience in Europe and I was glad that our next three hotels had free Wifi. The tour guides always rode in the front seats of the bus. One day we had the married couple tour guides on the bus and the other front row seat was free. I asked if we could sit in that seat and I was sternly told that the front seats were only for the tour guides. With that, the husband scooted over to the other front seat so they were both taken. If you enjoy taking a turn in the front, it will never happen with Fun For Less. Because they only travel to an area once or twice a year, any inefficiencies in the schedule take years to work out. My wife and I just returned from a tour to Branson (Christmas in Branson). It was a fantastic experience. It exceeded my expectations. We saw 15 shows, had front row seats. Our tour guide, George Dyer, was great. We were running late as a group for two of the shows. George was able to get the shows to delay their start and wait on us. So, we didn't miss a thing. Update on Fun for Less cancelled Passion Play Tour: I just got off the phone with Eric. He hung up on me. Here was my question for him: In your letter to us quoting the original Terms & Conditions, you stated that Fun for Less was not liable for wars, fires, pandemics, etc., etc. (Although I interpret this as meaning that Fun for Less is not liable if any of these occurred on the tour, Fun for Less interprets the clause as meaning it applies even two years before the postponed departure in 2022) This same original Terms and Conditions letter also states, "Cancelling from 24 months to 18 months prior to DEPARTURE date: $500 becomes non-refundable and nontransferable." (We are very willing to give up $500 for each of us, when we are 24 months out from the Departure date). I said, "So, if you are enforcing the questionable clause about not being liable for wars, fires, epidemics, etc., are you honoring the clause about refunds?" Whether yes or no, would you send me your answer in writing? Otherwise, Fun for Less is whimsically wanting to enforce one part of the Terms of Agreements, but ignore another part of the Terms of Agreement. Eric said "NO!" , there will be no more communication in writing." He tried to persuade me that the language about refunds refers to the date we signed up for the trip. I said, "you need to read the original Terms of Agreement. It clearly says, "Departure". He said, "Besides all the money from you has been spent." That is always the Fun for Less line. I said,"Legally, I don't think you can visit your financial troubles on me. I paid for a product, in good faith. I want my money back (all $13,000)" He hung up. They just want to stiff us; they have our money; they plan to keep our money." I am thinking all of us wanting refunds should file in the Utah Small Claims Court. The filing costs about $70.00 per person. If my husband and I file separately, we would be compensated for our payment to Fun for Less. This is what lawyers have told me. If we hire lawyers, then we would still see no refund, after subtracting their fees. How do others feel? What are you doing, if you want a refund? read more

I am sorry to say that after 4 trips with Fun For Less I could not recommend them any more. They Cancelled our trip to Germany scheduled for June. We have been told they cannot refund our $13,500. Because they have paid almost a year in advance for goods and services and don't have the money to return. This can only be described as poor business practices. I can reserve a hotel, a rental car, most goods and services without paying until day of or a few days before. They will provide a similar trip 1 year from now. This was my first and will be my last trip with Fun For Less. What a dis-organized mess. 1. We had already been in Amsterdam for 4 days and had made our way back to the airport to meet up with the rest of the tour group flying in. No one greets us at the airport (like they told us they would). We're not sure what we're doing or where we're going. We happen to see people with "red ties" on their suit cases... so we join the herd and follow them to the bus. 2. We get to Ann Frank's house only to discover the line is 2 hours long. We were told that we could wait in the 2-hour line in hopes of getting in and out of the Ann Frank house by the time the buses picked us up at 5:00. But if we weren't back at the bus at 5:00, we would be left behind. Disappointingly, we go sit in a restaurant instead and return to the appointed meeting place at 5:00. It's cold and it's raining. Sixty-eight people stand in the cold and the rain for 50 minutes, waiting for the 8 people who decided to tour the Ann Frank House. If I had known Fun For Less wasn't serious about leaving me behind, I would have gone to see the Ann Frank House. Unfortunately, I trusted what they told me and missed this opportunity. 3. We are finally on the bus, an hour late, making our way to the windmills. We hustle to the top of a windmill, take some pictures and hustle back to the bus. We didn't have time to see how the wooden shoes are made or watch the cheese being made, stroll through shops or purchase souvenirs (as we are an hour behind schedule) and must get on the bus to head to a scheduled Canal Boat ride. 4. We stay in Bruge our first night and take a walking tour with a local tour guide the next day. We have been divided into three groups and have been given instructions to meet at an appointed hour in the main square. During our tour, we arrive at a church to see Michelangelo's Madonna . Tickets are required. No Fun For Less tour guides with tickets are to be found anywhere. Someone in our group, steps up and pays for tickets so we can get in. We tour the church and meet in the square at the appointed hour. No Fun For Less people meet us. We wait for 20 minutes. Finally, we decide to be adventurous and make our way back to the bus by ourselves. This takes well over an hour with many stops to ask for directions. We arrived back at the bus at the appointed hour and then waited 20 minutes for the rest of the Fun For Less people to show up. Grrrrr. 5. We head to Versailles and ask if we can go see the gardens. Fun For Less tells us the gardens are too far away from the castle and that we won't be able to see them. We arrive at Versailles to find the workers are on strike and the castle is opening 2 hours late. Our local guide walks us around to the back of the castle so we can stroll through the gardens. ( I thought Fun For Less told us the gardens were too far away and that we couldn't go there!.) 6. In Germany, we went to see Neuschwanstein "Cinderella's" Castle, but our guide had messed up the date and time so we couldn't get in. Huge disappointment. Notes: Only breakfast is included on this tour and Fun For Less does not give any recommendations of great local places to eat lunch or dinner. You'll need to figure that out on your own. One day they did take us to a restaurant for lunch that ended up costing us $80!!! Two Sizzler-style salads with chicken and a bratwurst! EIGHTY DOLLARS!!! Crazy! Others, who had toured with Fun For Less before, said this was the worst trip they had every been on. Fun For Less Motto is: "We don't just send you there, we take you there." I propose their new Motto should be: "We don't just send you there, we take you there, but it will be worse than if you just went by yourself." I suggest you purchase a Travel guide book and go on your own! (We've bought numerous travel guide books including one for Amsterdam. I won't promote the names of my favorites, but I'm sure you can Google and figure it out.) We used an Amsterdam guide book for our first 4 days in Amsterdam (on our own) and it was fabulous. We bought museum passes at discounts, ate in amazing off-the-beaten-path restaurants for great prices and visited many main attractions and museums. For me... Fun For LESS really says it all... You get what you pay for. And we really got LESS. Never again. read more

I have been on a couple of Fun For Less Tours tours and felt they did a very good job but I just took the Scandinavian tour and the Norway in a Nutshell tour on July 21, 2018 and found it to be very poorly run. Our tour guide was always overwhelmed and in a bad mood which made me and others uncomfortable . It was a very dis-organized tour. Daily shore excursion information was not announced at times or not announced in an organized way . There were so many wasted hours on this tour and this was not a cheap tour. We were taken to Norgorod which is one of the oldest capitals of Russia. It is a 3 hour drive outside of Saint Petersburg and included seeing one church and a walking tour of this small walled Russian capital which included lunch and then another 3+ hours back. The trip time was extended because of long restroom breaks lines at gas stations with only 1 restroom and 4 buses full of people. This made it a 10 hour trip which most of the time was spent traveling. Our tour guide said that there was so little to see in St. Petersburg so they added this tour. Yet we didn't have time to take the inside tour of the Peterhof Palace which was so close to our ship. The tour of the Hermitage Museum was a disaster with valuable viewing time spent waiting for others to have a restroom break. The worst offense happened when we left our hotel to fly home and were put on a bus without a tour guide and more importantly with no terminal information or flight information for our trip home. We had to look that information up on for ourselves on the bus to the airport. Yet when someone complained to the tour director, his comment was "well you made it so that's all that matters". They were not happy with his answer or attitude. Although, these are the worse complains, there are more. I loved the people in the tour and that made the trip so much fun. The cruise portion was perfect. I will have to think twice before I use them again. read more

Mobility challenged and traveling with FunForLess Tours - Scandinavian Cruise/Tour 2019 If you are a slow walker or mobility challenged, this is probably not the tour group for you. I've hesitated to submit this review because I wanted to avoid criticism, but several friends have encouraged me to share these thoughts - especially in the hopes that FunForLess will consider ways they can improve for future customers who might be mobility challenged. I commend FunForLess for the kindness and positivity that Julie and Steve, our tour leaders, demonstrated throughout our cruise/tour; however, I felt there was a lack of sincere concern regarding tour members who were slower walkers or had mobility issues. They had their hands full due to the large size of our group (close to 80 people). May I make a few suggestions: 1. Each of their shore excursions were packed with a full day of activities & stops. It would have been wonderful if they could have offered 2 options for their excursions: a full day verses a half day. This option ability would have provided me some relief from the very long excursion days. There were multiple times that our tour group returned to the ship so late that my husband and I had missed our designated main dining room dinner time of 6:00 p.m. 2. FunForLess requires you to purchase either the entire package of shore excursions or none at all. They do not break the package down in order to give you the option of purchasing individual specific ports. They certainly made an extra profit with me because I could not do 3 of the ports but still had to pay for the entire package. 3. FunForLess provided an itinerary document that gave us a very brief, mostly one paragraph outline of what we'd be doing on each excursion. It was basic and so lacking! It would have been much more helpful to provide additional details in the itinerary (such as Princess Cruise Line does): like having the number of yards or minutes we'd be walking, how many steps or staircases, whether the site was wheelchair accessible or not. I cannot stress enough how much this additional info would help those of us who are challenged in deciding upon the suitability of a tour or excursion. 4. A number of our shore excursions used local guides that went with us on our individual buses and throughout the sites. I want to highly compliment our local guide in St. Petersburg, Russia - I'm sorry I can't remember her name. She took such great care to make sure we had access to bathrooms when needed and she knew exactly where ramps and/or elevators were located in the sites we saw such as the Hermitage museum, etc. She helped to guide me and made sure I didn't get lost. None of the other local guides demonstrated this responsible watch care; in fact, some of them seemed to forget that I was even part of their group. read more

I have been on three tours with Fun For Less Tours and every trip was excellent. Of course there are unexpected things that happens. Quite a few non-LDS people were on those trips and most of them had been going 5 times or more with them on tours! I think that restroom times are sometimes taking a bit of time and could be more organized. I have already booked my trip for April 2015 that is how much I like this company! read more

We just took our first tour with Fun For Less. We will do more in the future. Our previous experience with tours was disappointing and we're glad to have finally found a winner. Our guide Jack Marshall was knowledgeable and so patient. It was fun to both "see" and "learn". Our days were filled with activities and learning. The hotels were great, especially in Guatemala City. Our fellow travelers were pleasant and friendships were easy to make. It's hard to coordinate so many people with transportation and accommodations and it was done very professionally and with easy flexibility when the inevitable snafus appeared. We could not hope to perform this on our own for twice the cost. Well done Jack and Fun4Less! read more

This is my first time using Fun For Less Tours and now I feel like me and my money is being held hostage! Due to unforeseen circumstances by anyone, the Passion Play at Oberamagau has been postponed. The good people of Oberamagau has given a full refund. Yet, Fun for Less Tours does not want to give me my money back. They want to offer a different tour in replacement next year without the Passion Play and then I can buy the Oberamagau tour again in 2022. So, now Fun for Less gets me to buy two tours from them. Of course, they try to tell me all that "they did for me" and how difficult it was to deal with the hotels and tour operators in Europe so that a postponement would even be a possibility. Really, they are taking advantage of the situation and instead of refunding me the money because THEY were the ones that cancelled the tours, they are keeping my money and trying to get me to continue to trust them as they hold onto my money another year or two. They have done nothing to help me but have only thought of their own self interests and trying to keep everyone roped into their tours and then, they have the gall to even try to sell more tours on top of everything. Well, I don't trust them and I think that they are a bunch of money-grubbers. Shame on them! read more

We went on a Caribbean cruise and were very disappointed with Fun For Less. We found the leaders to be obnoxious and egotistical. Luckily the excursions with through the FFL group were cancelled due to the hurricane so we could go on the ship provided excursions. The "mandatory" meetings we had to attend just told us the same information we received from the cruise line. We did have a land tour with FFL after the cruise. Our leaders and their families had their own bus, I guess they were too good to ride with the rest of us. Some of our party had a flight out in the afternoon during the tour so they skipped the tour and got their own transportation to the airport. Then when we started the tour we found out that another couple also had a flight out in the afternoon so the leaders told the local guide that she needed to hurry the tour along so they could make their flight. The local guide left us with the FFL leaders at a national park to get the couple to the airport. The leader then asked members of the party who had Golden Eagle passes so they could get the pass holder and three others in for free. When we paid for the excursion that fee was included. It was not appropriate for them ask. Our flight home was ridiculous. We flew hours out of the way to NY and had an extremely long layover. There were other direct flights available. But the leaders weren't on the return flight so it didn't matter to them. I was a good trip only because we had minimal contact with the FFL group. I would not recommend going on a trip with FFL. read more

We throughly enjoyed our March 2016 Book of Mormon land tour directed by Jack Marshall during the week before and after Easter Sunday. We enjoyed Central American via bus and boats. We saw so much during 13 days of travel it is hard to believe. Jack's ability to share insightful information was amazing. He was humorous, good natured, motivating, educational, thought provoking, and inspiring. His hands on approach was terrific. We appreciated the local tour guides and assistants who so ably supported Jack. A special thanks to Nacho, John Carlos, Julio and Mina. They were down to earth, informative and gave 150 percent to us. They graciously represented local folks who really personalized the locations that we were able to visit and the people we were able to see. They, like Jack, were so very concerned about us and we really appreciated their attention to detail. I can't begin to talk about all of the places we were able to visit but the connections to the Book of Mormon created so many "Ah ha" moments. So if I could do it over again, I would have read John Lund's book on Mesoamerica and brought an additional $100 USD to purchase more souvenirs. We traveld to SE Asia. From the get go Fun for Less was not fun. They talk about how great Singapore Air is . . . it is not. I have traveled over 2.5M miles on business as well as personal trips and the flight on Singapore was horrible. What made it even worse was that they had my wife in a seat on one side of the plane and me, one row back on the other side of the plane. It took quite a bit of effort to get our seats together. Our initial flight was changed by Fun for Less from an evening flight, on what was supposed to be the first day of the tour, to the next day so we had to spend even more time, into the wee hours of the morning, waiting. On one of the longer flights, my wife and I had seats together, but upon arriving at those assigned seats we found the host and his wife and the tour guide seated in our seats. The host's wife told us to work out seating with the other travelers, that they needed to be seated together, How nice of them! Office Staff - terribly inconsistent information. I asked, 2-3 months before we left . . .when we booked the tour . . . if we wouldn't need visas to Vietnam, Cambodia, or Myanmar. I was told no. About 3 weeks before we were to leave, we get a letter from Fun for Less telling us they needed our passports, two additional passport pictures, some forms to be filled out, a check for $231 each, and to return it to them within 5 days. Someone had obviously overlooked this issue until it was almost too late. We Fed-Exed our documents back to them. As mentioned above they screwed up our airline tickets, but showed no interest in trying to help us out. Somebody named Steve told me to always ask for a supervisor when calling . . . as apparently the other staff weren't up to speed. A bit odd1 Tipping policy: they collect a significant amount of money from each traveler to hand out to tour guides, bus drivers and hotel staff. I listened to our guides as they discussed how much they were handing out to those people. For the entire trip it didn't add up to 50% off what they collected. On at least four occasions people had to haul all of their own luggage to their rooms. In Thailand all of the luggage was dumped in one location more than 150 feet from the hotel entrance. It was night time and it was dark . . . so 56 people were climbing all over themselves, and the luggage, looking for their bags. No Fun there! I wouldn't have minded if the tour hosts and the tour manager were to receive significant tips, but they did it was less than ethical. It was easy to calculate within 5% or so what the total tips paid out were. I have an MBA in Int'l Finance . . . but I didn't need it to make this calculation. Fun for Less tired to tell me that I didn't have all the facts or that I didn't understand how they tip. No Fun for Less you weren't forthcoming about simply telling the group that any monies left over would go to the host and guide, which no one would have had any problem with. Honesty is the best policy! Many other aspects of our tour that made it Less than Fun. Some of the hotels were definitely not 4 or 5 star hotels, even though Fun for Less advertised them as such. Some of the guides that they hired were just not very helpful. They either didn't know their stuff or got off on subject matter that was totally wrong for what we should have been getting. A guide in Thailand spent the better part of 90 minutes telling us about the "girly men" in Thailand and all about her divorce. NOBODY on the bus could believe it. Problem was you didn't always have one of the hosts on your bus. We had two buses and the tour guide and his wife spent an inordinate amount on one bus. In fairness there were some good things about the tour. Our tour manager was knowledgeable and helped to keep things together. We did get to many sites and were able to mingle with the local people, which is always the best part of any trip. Just too many uncomfortable aspects of our touring with this group. I won't ever be traveling with them again. After this experience I would change their name to Less than Fun! read more

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful 10 day trip to Central Americal to tour the Mayan ruins. What a wonderful experience. Our tour took us from plane, to bus, to plane again, to boat, back on smaller buses and again to plane - all as we traveled from Mexico City, to Southern Mexico and into Guatemala. Never did the tour company miss a beat. It was orchestrated perfectly and so professionally done. We stayed and some very nice hotels and ate some of the very best food. Jack Marshall was our educator and he was marvelous. I have only positive things to say about our Fun for Less experience. This was my first trip with the company. It will not be my last. read more

I just went on a Fun For Less Tour, and I don't think I will do another one. It was to Romantic Europe. Two highlights were the home of Anne Frank and Neuschwanstein Castle. We saw neither of them. One bus toured Anne's house, the other was told there wasn't enough time because the lines were too long. So that group didn't get in the tour line, and then had to wait an extra hour for the first bus. At Neuschwanstein the guide, Ari, ordered tickets for the wrong day so we didn't get inside for a tour. Ari was a pompous jerk who was with us for a whole week. He insisted on talking on the microphone in the bus constantly about Hapsburg kings and architecture--oh and how great the Swiss are. He made us pay for sheets about his lectures. The Fun For Less educator didn't get a chance to get in a word after Ari showed up. The Fun For Less manager of the tour bowed to Ari's wishes too. There was no organization. Directions for the day's activities were changed constantly, plans weren't made in advance, the tour directors acted like they had never been to these places (though I know they had) and didn't give advice to the participants about what would be the best things to do when there was a choice. Ari got lost going into Munich and then tried to get everyone to just go to the hotel instead of have a city tour. When he was forced to take a group, he didn't know much about the city and gave wrong information. It was a joke. I have been on some good Fun for Less Tours, but this wasn't one of them. My husband and I were privileged to take a Book of Mormon Lands Tour with Fun for Less. Obviously, this tour is specifically targeted to an LDS audience. We just barely got back and want to share it with everyone. We weren't exactly sure what to expect, but wanted to get some insight into the background of the ruins we were seeing and the things we might not notice on our first time there. We got even more than we hoped for. Jack Marshall, our guide and educator, was extremely knowledgeable and a dynamic speaker. He kept us captivated with information and was very approachable to answer questions. The daily agendas were explained and followed, and we were able to cram a lot of sights into a short period of time because of the advance planning done ensuring that travel connections, local details, security, and even bathroom breaks were arranged for. In a few short days we visited numerous sites in Mexico and Guatemala. The accommodations were wonderful, the food was great, the atmosphere was pleasant, the information was invigorating, and the experience was amazing. As a result of our experience, we have renewed enthusiasm to study the Book of Mormon more carefully and are able to picture the events more clearly in our minds. We would highly recommend this tour with this company to anyone with a desire to strengthen their knowledge and have a spiritual experience. read more
