I still can't believe that I made it here...absolutely feeling like a tourist (which I was) but as we were crossing the street I could already see a glimmer of the Cloud Gate shine and just couldn't believe how massive it really was. Not only it was massive so was the park as there were many features with a restaurant water feature and even various art scattered all around it's not just the Bean that many come here for but to just take in the beauty that sits right in the middle of a massive city giving you some bit of nature and fun all in one area. I'd return here in a heartbeat as I don't think that I'd see it's full glory but am so grateful to have a moment to take it all in as we just have moments to enjoy each and every day and this one was just as special to share with friends that enjoyed it all as well. As a must…read morevisit, Millennium Park is a full attraction on its own and famously know for having "the bean" As a touristy attraction it can get crowded as everyone enjoys their photo opportunity with the huge mirror reflection of a bean at Cloud Gate with the amazing skyline in the distance. For more calmness and relaxing atmosphere at the park, you must explore the nearby huge outdoor amphitheater Jay Pritzker Pavilion that hosts great performances and concerts. Or take a stroll through Millennium Monument or Wrigley Square and Lurie Gardens Great attraction that's hustling and bustling with a balance of fast pace and relaxation to match anyone's energy and daily plans. Check out this incredible transformation of a quarry into a park in Bridgeport. In between it was a…read morelandfill. Palmisano Park has went through a lot of changes to be sure. A lot of nature of course. There's trails and an interpretive wetlands among the many things to come across while going through. Best to know about the transformation before going. It used to be the Stearns Quarry. The city purchased it in 2008, cleaned it up, and opened it the next year. Has lots of nature to see and more to do. There's more than a mile of paths, including recycled timber boardwalks, and walkways. At first this was the site of a coral reef if you can believe it. Limestone was formed, and there's been fossils discovered here that are now in the Field Museum. In the 1830s it became a quarry, and operated until 1970 when it became a landfill. There's a fishing pond that still has the old quarry walls. After opening this park there was cause for celebration. The community before this had a lack of green space. Have to go here if you like parks that have been restored from abandoned areas. It's quite impressive. There's all kinds of plants and wildlife.

Field This playground features a giant rocketship-themed playground with mission control "knobs" and launch pad platforms, a rock climbing wall, numerous winding slides, a zip line and several additional climbing features. I went down one of the slides and got rub-burn (or is it called "slide-burn"?) on my elbows. I would estimate that the slide is about 20-feet long. Disclaimer: I have children. So no, I didn't hangout at the playground by myself like a creepy old dude (not disclaiming that I'm a creepy old dude, in general). And if the main structure wasn't enough, there's a second area younger children to enjoy slides, swings, a small swinging bridge and many other climbing features I have to say, this playground was one of the best public playgrounds I've been to. So sad that I couldn't check in, as there was no Yelp listing of it.... until now! :-D

It's huge, multiple levels. There are at least three slides coming out from it. Lots of places for kids to climb and scurry and jump. But that part was too big for my kiddo so we went to the smaller section a few steps away. There was a structure to climb, several slides, some bars, and then even a little further away a bunch of swings. I tried to keep her from seeing the swings, to be honest, since I didn't want to have to deal with an upset kiddo when we had to leave without enough swing time. She played around a bit but didn't seem as interested in the playground. We went down a slide or two, but some of them had standing water since it has been a bit rainy recently. The playground isn't technically fenced in, but it is effectively so because it's behind the practice courts which are all fenced in. It'd be hard for your kid to get away from you. There's a parking lot for the Norridge Park District building but the neighborhood parking could be tricky, especially in the summer because there is restricted parking from Memorial Day to Labor Day (ostensibly because of the large pool structure that would keep the residents from having any parking for three months otherwise). The terrain of the park is wood chips and soil, decidedly not my favorite (maybe especially after a rain) and she got dirty pretty quick. I may bring her back when she's old enough to play on the rocket ship, but this won't be a park that we return to much if ever.
