Dr. Thuente is wonderful, caring and extremely knowledgeable. His speciality is children and…read moreclearly I am not a child. I was referred to him several years ago by the U of M Peds head docter at that time. He saw me the same day as the referral. I did have to wait 20 minutes but it was the same day I asked for the referral and they were working me in because of the issue I had. He has continued to treat me with kindness and expertise. The staff are professional and helpful. A smile and a kind word goes a long way. Many patients are scared, anxious and therefore short tempered so consider the mood you were in and the attitude you presented. I give high ratings to this clinic and the staff. Dr. Thuente is a gifted surgeon and caring doctor.

Dr. Christopher Gilmartin is a superb optometrist. He has a sterling education and decades of…read morepractical experience. He's thorough, methodical, professional. But what I find most valuable is his practical advice to help patients preserve their eyesight. He takes the time during an examination to explain to a patient what they're doing right, where they're running risks, and what they can do going forward to safeguard their vision. That's invaluable information, particularly for someone my age (67), who wants to keep their eyes working properly, and avoid painful and costly repairs.

VERY difficult to get an appt within a reasonable time frame. My wife informed staff there of her…read morework schedule the first contact with them. They cancelled the appt via letter that we got two days before the appt and rescheduled to a day my wife had informed them was a day she worked. They said they called but could not leave a message on our phone ("the phone just rang and rang"). They did not attempt to call again. When my wife was reasonably upset about this and their inability to accomodate her schedule until July (we had hoped to have her surgery done before a long-awaited trip with our grandaughter who we haven't seen in over a year due to COVID) the woman became haughty, officious, passive aggressively rude. We then got a message that they would not see my wife at all because my wife "would not like us". This made us reasonably angry and when I called there was no resolution and the woman was completely unable to deal effectively with people who are reasonably upset about such things. There was a snarky quality about her refusal to reschedule at all, and a refusal to let me talk to whoever supervises her, knowing that they are only one of less than a handful of offices that do this procedure in a huge region. I also don't understand how a very highly paid professional can take a Friday off at the last minute when he or she has a day fully scheduled unless it was a personal emergency. In my profession that was never tolerated. There was no indication that this was an emergency situation. I can practically hear the office staff's snarky and deriding comments about this review...
