VERY difficult to get an appt within a reasonable time frame. My wife informed staff there of her work schedule the first contact with them. They cancelled the appt via letter that we got two days before the appt and rescheduled to a day my wife had informed them was a day she worked. They said they called but could not leave a message on our phone ("the phone just rang and rang"). They did not attempt to call again. When my wife was reasonably upset about this and their inability to accomodate her schedule until July (we had hoped to have her surgery done before a long-awaited trip with our grandaughter who we haven't seen in over a year due to COVID) the woman became haughty, officious, passive aggressively rude. We then got a message that they would not see my wife at all because my wife "would not like us". This made us reasonably angry and when I called there was no resolution and the woman was completely unable to deal effectively with people who are reasonably upset about such things. There was a snarky quality about her refusal to reschedule at all, and a refusal to let me talk to whoever supervises her, knowing that they are only one of less than a handful of offices that do this procedure in a huge region. I also don't understand how a very highly paid professional can take a Friday off at the last minute when he or she has a day fully scheduled unless it was a personal emergency. We have gone here for many years and been seen by Dr. Hanley and Dr. Hummel. We have always been treated well and the staff is respectful and very friendly, always ready to help. I would recommend them to family and friends. read more

As a new resident of Traverse City, I scheduled an appt. to meet with Dr. Hummell for a full exam. She was very pleasant and professional and the exam was very thorough. My exam was over 2 months ago, and there has been 0 follow-up regarding advancing my need for contact lenses, a common request as a patient. I had to call twice to see what next steps were because no one was getting back to me. The first delay was that they failed to have me fill out a release authorization (while at my appt.) in order to have information sent from my former optometrist. The 2nd delay was that the front desk told me that they hadn't received my form via the email they told me to use. The IT person got involved and went into the email given to me and found it immediately. Having a tenure of 25 years in healthcare, I can't work with an office who doesn't provide follow-up to patients, nonetheless, a new patient. I've returned to my optometrist in Chicago for a more professional and better customer service experience. read more

I called to schedule a new patient appointment. The front desk girl was snotty and rude. She asked me what type of insurance I had under my regular insurance. I wasn't familiar with what she was referring to and in a very unprofessional tone told me that "maybe I had better figure that out". That was enough to put me off from ever setting foot in that place. read more

I had a medical scare involving my right eye on a Friday morning and called this office to see a doctor. The girl told me I would have to contact my optician for a release before she could even talk to me!! Nothing I said about my eye injury was of any concern to her. I hung up and got an immediate appoinment elsewhere. I would never again consider this business for my healthcare. read more

This is the best eye care center/facility in the area. i started going when my mother needed cataract surgery several years ago, the care then was terrific and continues on today. I always go there, recommending the facility and it's Doctors all the time. Those people who have tried it continue to go. read more
