It's really nice walking through before it gets too crowded, and the popular vendors will still have your favorite items if you get to them early. We like to bring our dog and walk through the market and then walk through Midtown and Downtown and it's so fun to grab a drink, get a few ingredients for weekend meals, maybe a snack and support local. There's a good mix of farm fresh produce and flowers, some eggs and meat options, baked goods, dips, condiments, and seasonings, plus shopping like clothes, gifts, jewelry, and even house plants. Honestly, this market has a bit of everything. Live music- yeah they have it! I feel so lucky whenever we walk through the market because it brings everyone together and highlights a lot of what makes our city so special.

You can find fresh vegetables, eggs, local crawfish, chicken, meat, bread, pastries, plants, dates, flowers..you name it, and it's probably there. The vendors are always welcoming, and there's such a great sense of community. It's wonderful to see so many people coming together to support local farmers, makers, and small businesses. These are a bit drier and denser than the other tofu products. They are wide and thin...almost ribbonlike. They're a byproduct of the tofu-making process. Rather than toss them, there's a vender here that bags these irregular bits and sells them, cheap. I like them because the are a bit chewy and textured. They don't fall apart during cooking. They hold up to being sliced in shorter pieces and stir-fried. One bag is enough for several meals Many bargains can be found here if you're adventurous enough to try new-to-you fruits and veggies. I recommend making a pass-through of the whole market before making purchases. Prices can vary from vender to vender. You can save quite a bit of money getting your produce here rather than at the regular supermarket produce department. That's if you are flexible in which veggies you purchase. This place tends to have all sorts of asian veggies and only a few of the more common ones.

We met a few crafters and loved their stuff. We bought an adorable bandana, hat, and pinata plush from Xochi's Pawfections. We also bought two delicious Vietnamese coffees (one with pandan cream) from Bing Bing Shave Ice and Coffee. Finally, we met owner Krystal who makes the cutest jewelry with clay. There was plenty of room to browse and no problem finding interesting goods! Street parking can be a challenge but Sundays mean free street parking!

I also liked that it was open later in the day compared to most other farmer's markets. Upon arrival, there was a good amount of people enjoying the breezy August day, and parking wasn't too difficult to find. We ended up parking along the perimeter of the park itself, since the farmer's market is located at Carmichael Park and the main lot was full. For a smaller farmer's market, there were still a good variety of vendors, and a handful of produce stands. Food and drink vendors were also present, and of course the matcha stand was popping. The matcha stand was called Luz & Leaf, and had a small but varied menu, including a seasonal mango matcha lemonade for the summer. I had to go for the London Fog Matcha Latte, since I love earl grey tea (and lavender syrup). This matcha latte was the perfect drink for walking about the farmer's market, and so smooth. The ice level was just right, and I'm so glad they had oat milk for me, as that has been my milk of choice these days for my coffee/matcha orders. There were only two girls manning the matcha stand, and they were working diligently to whisk matcha and get orders out in a timely manner. I absolutely did not mind waiting, and enjoyed watching the girls put together everyone's drinks. I also got a stamp card from them since I would definitely want to have more matcha from them again. The other vendor we ended up purchasing from was a sweet lady who sold green tea leaves, including Kan Cha, which is one of the rarest teas in the world. She works directly with small farms who grow the special tea leaves, and sells them at a really reasonable price point. I ended up getting a packet of the Kan Cha, and will be making some once it gets cold enough to make hot tea (she recommended to steep it in hot water for best flavor notes). As we were busy training with my friend's dog, we didn't quite experience as much of the framer's market as much as I wanted to, but I'm sure we will be back some other time. This farmer's market is super dog friendly, so it's a perfect environment for working on handler engagement and neutrality. The majority of the dogs seemed decently behaved, but I personally wouldn't bring my own dog to this farmer's market, especially since the majority of dog owners don't pay good enough attention to their dogs, and don't hold their dogs to a high standard of obedience like I do with my own dog. We had a few close calls where owners didn't care and literally allowed their dogs to stare at or wander close to my friend's dog, which is very rude. All in all, I'm glad to see this little farmer's market thrive, and would love to check out some of the other vendors next time we visit.

This farmers market happens once a week on Sunday mornings from 9am-2pm. This market is located at Carmichael Park on Grant Avenue. Generally I'd say there are about 50 or so vendors each week at the market,though I have seen that number a little higher on random weekends. Free parking at this park is pretty plentiful as Carmichael Park has many parking spaces available. These vendors are pretty good-quite similar to the vendors that I've seen at the Midtown Farmers Market-fresh fruits and veggies,a few vendors making fresh foods,like the cinnamon rolls vendor that got me to this farmers market. They have a vendor who has massage chairs setup and offers massages to customers. Another vendor I love is an Asian Bakery,selling incredible milk bread and sells these great egg salad sandos on milk bread-solid stuff. The best vendor, though,as I mentioned earlier is the cinnamon roll vendor and it's fabulous.The lines for this vendor can be pretty long and they sell out every weekend-I fully recommend them. There are many stands that serve produce, bread, flowers, honey, and much more. I love the flower booth that is comes to this farmers market every weekend. You can buy flowers by the bouquet (anywhere from $7-$30) or you can ask about bulk purchases. I also like that they have performers that play guitar, piano, sing, etc. This farmers market doesn't compare to the midtown farmers market, but a great farmers market if you're looking to simply buy produce and fresh items. There is plenty of parking. There are no food trucks or food stands with already made food. Also, no dogs allowed.

THE SETUP Being a seasonal endeavor, whenever this market pops up in the Cesar Chavez Plaza (across from Sacramento City Hall), it's the perfect place for someone like me who *haunts* the nearby Downtown coffee shops, or even to grab something fresh while I'm grabbing some Falafels at the eatery kitty-corner to the market. CONVENIENCE With buses shooting down J Street (for me, BUS 30 and the BUS 38), I also benefit from a quick exit from the Downtown region to get back home to Midtown. So this market still makes itself a viable & convenient option for me even though it's not exactly a short-walk. THE LOWDOWN Support your Local Farmers' Markets!

J & J Ramos Farms was there along with Toledo Farms, each stocked with fresh produce ranging from vegetables to fruits. There's also bakery items such as Faria Bakery and Rosa's Bakery. All in all, check out this farmer's market in downtown sac and follow their social media for updates. Everyone here was nice and had wonderful customer service.
