Ok, the lighthouse itself is nothing special and also not very impressive (aside from the size…read moremaybe). But the walk to get here is the actual sight and the interesting thing about it. And the views of the coast and ocean from up here. Several ways and paths are leading up to this Faro. The easiest and also most convenient option starts right beside the carpark at the northern end of Gorliz Beach. It's a nice and paved way from there leading up to this Faro. Some cows, farms and lots of wonderful views along the way. Nice ocean views, cliffs and rock formations. It's a great little walk and not too hard. We had our Bulldog in her stroller with us and managed fine. Some few parts might be a bit steep and need a quick extra burst of energy. Besides that a nice walk. Most parts are under the sun, but the ocean breeze provides some freshness. We really enjoyed the walk up here. And there were only few visitors. Which is actually very suprising. It's really a nice sight.

This is a very pretty boardwalk leading around the nice town of Plentzia. There is lots of shade…read moreprovided by the many trees. Lots of benches to have rest or to watch the world go by. It's lined with several restaurants, offering wonderful food. Some park, some playgrounds as well. There are nice river views and nice views of the bay on the northern end. We walked here starting from the Gorliz Beach. And then back again up to the northern end of the beach. It makes a really nice, rewarding walk with amazing ocean views on the way. It's all flat, easy and paved and suitable for everybody. Also good for wheelchairs and strollers. Really a great thing to do after a hearty meal.

A stunning modern bridge right next to the Guggenheim. We walked on it a few times and took a ton…read moreof pictures. The views from here are spectacular. We took a boat ride that went under the bridge and again gave us a chance to marvel at the architecture.

Adjacent to the magnificent Guggenheim Bilbao is the La Salve bridge that sweeps by the museum to…read morethe center of town. After seeing the museum proper we made the trek up to the red arch. Taking the elevator up almost the top a guy in the elevator reminded me by saying Arriba! Great views of the river, the old town,the new construction and the sweep of Bilbao proper

We were in the area to go to Gaztulugatxe and had a few hours to kill. We ended up coming to Bakio…read morewhich is a small town and just 5 minutes from Gaztulugatxe. It's a small town with a few restaurants and an awesome beach with a small promenade by it. There were only a small handful of people on the beach and we loved the water and weather when we were there.

This place was just down the street from where we stayed for a few nights. Went there with my dog…read morein the afternoon. Only costs 1 Euro, dogs are free and welcome here (on a leash of course). It's a nice little spot here on the coast. A few trails leading around the nice lighthouse. Lots of green, lots of nature, impressive coastlines. It's a quiet, peaceful place. Only a handful visitors were there that day. A bunch of information panels give you more insight about the plants and animals around here. There are also (free) telescopes to use, in case you need to zoom in on something interesting. Also a good number of benches, in case you just wanna sit down and take in the wonderful scenery here. It's possible to take a stroller here, most of it is gravel, but most trails are not steep. Wheelchairs would have problems though I'd say. It's really a nice place to come to enjoy the coast and its nature.
