I saw some amazing reviews for Rook when searching for food on some other platform. Room looked…read morelike it won some awards in some dessert wars as well! We were on our way back to the Avalon airport from a Melbourne and needed a stop in between to spend some time before our flight. Rook is located a little out of the way, but it was perfect cause it's in a little small where we could kill some time.. and parking, which beats trying to find parking in Melbourne's CBD for food. I've never had Sri Lankan food before so this was definitely an adventure! The restaurant is nice, very clean and has a semi opened kitchen, so you can watch where all the magic happens. There's a good selection of teas from Sri Lanka and a nice selection of coffees as well! I loved the tea pot setup and had some amazing sour sop tea that was fragrant and yummy. For food I opted for the Hoppers with an addition of Lamb Curry. The bowl made out of coconut was pretty cool, like a very light coconut crisp. The lamb curry was flavorful and delicious, lamb tender! You pour and mix everything into the coconut bowl and eat from there! I wish there was a little more instruction to the first timers but alas we had to ask them how they would recommend eating the Hoppers and the String Hoppers. I loved every bite, just the portions were a little on the small side for the price! Everyone seemed to enjoy the food though and the servers were friendly and accommodating! The owner came out to help us as well and he was very nice, even gave us photo cards to help us decide on food! Would definitely come back to try dessert next time we're in Australia and would recommend this restaurant for those of you who want to try something new! We also wished our dishes came out hotter cause they were just room temperature, but flavors were spot on!

Not gonna lie - I went to this place because of the free wifi. The delicious food, incredible…read morecoffee, and the quirky decor was secondary. Although my heart broke a little when they told me their wifi was no longer connected. WHAT? Australia, catch up to the rest of the world, please! I turned international roaming off on my phone so I wouldn't get an astronomical bill at a later date - I NEED WIFI TO SURVIVE! Once I calmed down and ordered lunch I almost forgot all about why I was upset in the first place. I ordered the quiche with asparagus, caramelised onions, goats cheese (local from Drysdale!) that came served with a pear chutney, rocket, parmesan and walnut salad. DELICIOUS. The flavors worked perfectly together and I couldn't get enough of the chutney! This place is super cool. It's a renovated house turned into a cafe and it's absolutely charming. The staff were really friendly and always laughing with one another. I can't wait to go back to Cafe Go - wifi or not! :)

I knew I would like this place…read more As soon as I saw the quirky set up for outdoor seating, I just knew I had to go to Cafe Go. I was not alone. I opened the door shortly after midday to find half of Geelong crammed into this place - either by the cosy open fire, in the quaint outdoor courtyard or lining up by the counter. This place looks cool and has a great casual ambiance. Getting a table inside was too challenging so I opted to sit out the front in the sun and enjoy my rye sandwich which was very good. The only reason this place didn't get a 5 was because I queued for at least 10 minutes busily drooling over a chicken and walnut sandwich, only to see the girl in front of me snap it up. Egg salad was my back up choice. The broader lunch menu looks appealing as does the breaky options. The counter is decorated with many sweet choices including chocolate brownies. I would recommend you give this cafe a go.
