You've got to stop in here next time you're out looking for your next hit. My husband and I literally walk past 4 other nice coffee places to come get our morning coffee from here. They don't do food, but the have the standard array of muffins and such that look nice. They also sell the cartel coffee beans as well as a vast collection of teas and related drink-ware. Very cool cafe, reminds me of being in the city. Geelong is very lucky!

No matter what I choose on the menu, it never disappoints here and I have too many favourites to make some suggestions. I loved the ecclectic, retro feel of the place and the mix of chairs, tables and lounges. I also loved the menu on the wall...but what I didn't love was that I couldn't try everything that was on offer! So for $22 my wife and I shared the tasting plate that included ×3 cakes, ice cream and x5 sides...now you know why we should have skipped dinner :) Best of all, if you are gluten free or vegan they have something for you. We were on our way back to the Avalon airport from a Melbourne and needed a stop in between to spend some time before our flight. Rook is located a little out of the way, but it was perfect cause it's in a little small where we could kill some time.. and parking, which beats trying to find parking in Melbourne's CBD for food. I've never had Sri Lankan food before so this was definitely an adventure! The restaurant is nice, very clean and has a semi opened kitchen, so you can watch where all the magic happens. There's a good selection of teas from Sri Lanka and a nice selection of coffees as well! I loved the tea pot setup and had some amazing sour sop tea that was fragrant and yummy. For food I opted for the Hoppers with an addition of Lamb Curry. The bowl made out of coconut was pretty cool, like a very light coconut crisp. The lamb curry was flavorful and delicious, lamb tender! You pour and mix everything into the coconut bowl and eat from there! I wish there was a little more instruction to the first timers but alas we had to ask them how they would recommend eating the Hoppers and the String Hoppers. I loved every bite, just the portions were a little on the small side for the price! Everyone seemed to enjoy the food though and the servers were friendly and accommodating! The owner came out to help us as well and he was very nice, even gave us photo cards to help us decide on food! Would definitely come back to try dessert next time we're in Australia and would recommend this restaurant for those of you who want to try something new! They have some amazing sweets so perfect for for a sit down and some chill time. The staff a super friendly and there is a great atmosphere with a mixture of mid century and modern touch. Coffee was excellent and you can tell fr the little subtitles that the barista knows his stuff about coffee. Love the little simple touch of 3 smarties you get with a coffee. The specials board is the best choice for these types of cafes as you can bet there is going to be something seasonal and super fresh. I chose the mushroom soup with brown rice, vegies and sour dough. It was fantastic, although I would have loved more rice as later in the day I got a little peckish. A very relaxed, dark spot to enjoy an organic lunch. The cafe is also kid friendly with toys supplied for them to play with. Plenty of reading material for the adults too.
