The store is always clean and being sanitized plenty(which puts me at ease during COVID-19). I've had a variety of their meats and I have to admit I've enjoyed them all. I have never been able to find chicken chorizo but this place has the BEST chicken chorizo. Now they have USDA PRIME and it is amazing. I got the Tomahawk steak and it didn't let me down at all. I am definitely buying more. Good prices and they keep adding more cuts of meat. I drive from Perris every week for meat. That's how good the meat is. I highly recommend Principio Mercado to anyone who is interested in good quality meat.

He'll tell you his process for house made chorizo. He'll talk about how he doesn't offer certain products until he's ready to do them right instead of pushing out something he knows is not going to be good enough. That's the mark of a true professional who cares about what he does. He will not sell something he can't stand behind, even if he can make more money. I've gotten carne asada, chorizo, and al pastor from here. They are all high quality meats and cook up well. The chorizo especially is extra super delicious. It is not greasy at all. The casing has a great snap to it. The meat is well seasoned without being too heavy. There are no big lumps of fat or gristle that you find in cheaper chorizo. The true testament to how good the chorizo is can be seen in the many meals where it was served and people fought over it, eating way more than they usually do, then passing out from food coma. I've witnessed it every time this is served. Even people who are full will eat the chorizo if you cook it up later.

I accidentally side quested into here and it was a pleasant experience. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies from local sources, small indie businesses and artisans and lots of people walking their dogs. I went during the mid morning so it was getting hot, but the farmer's market was in the shade of some of the taller buildings which is nice. I got some delicious poke and ceviche that was packed with some ice and with all of the utensils. Vendor was super friendly and made some small talk regarding the convention and some anime series. Very rare to have small talk with a non normie, so that was refreshing! Got to enjoy all of our food after I got to the con and it wasn't decimated by security. Big plus! Also before I left, I got some mango sorbet with tajin to the side and it was a huge portion for $5 and very refreshing in the growing July heat. Next AX, if I park near this farmer's market, I'll do another walkthrough for sure!

There's several vendors out there, but again, LA is definitely lacking the produce that Bakersfield Farmer's Market has. It's nice to see all the food vendors since I love checking out all the delicious stands, but the point of coming to the Farmer's Market for me is the produce and fresh baked bread or organic items made by local vendors. This Farmer's Market is not as busy as the other one I recently visited; however, it is a lot smaller and literally on the street so maybe that's why it's not as busy. There's so many food options that it seems more like a food event then a Farmer's Market. I really do love that this one stays open til later since a lot of Farmer's Market are only open in the morning. It's good for the people who wake up late or don't like going out early mornings. Parking is pretty crazy, so good luck. If you live in the area then you're pretty lucky just to walk here. This Farmer's Market is pretty close to tons of businesses so it's accessible to a lot of people, it's just the parking that's crazy. I'm not a local, so if you locals have tips for us then that would be great! I definitely would love to come back to see if they offer other stuff. I happened to come late which is probably why there weren't any produce.

Last time, we finally tried their food items as well. OMG, we have been missing out on this place! We ordered 2 mini tlayudas (which were quite large, larger than a personal pan pizza), and the mole divorciado. The tlayudas were crispy, with amazing beans, and the freshest and crispiest vegetables. A mixer of hearty and refreshing. The miles were rich and thick without tasting heavy or overpowering. Walked the line of almost tasting "light" on top of juicy chicken breasts and thighs. Even the rice was good. You really can't order a bad item here.

I believe there is a $5 minimum purchase but it is not really enforced. I've also gotten a berry chantilly matcha with oat milk at the coffee bar here, and it was delicious and only $5.25!! What a steal for matcha in this economy. Recently, I I came here just for the matcha again but the coffee bar was closed sadly :/ leading me to dock off one star. If you're coming in just for the amazing and affordable drinks, would recommend calling the store to confirm if their coffee bar is open!

On the bright side, it easily made my top 10 most disgusting foods ever eaten in my life list. (Think 5-6th place easy.) As I unwrapped (had to fight from the heat and almost melted flour tortilla to separate from the packaging) the burrito looked like it had been put through a car wash, a soaked tortilla fused with the inside crap that was in it. Barely any eggs or cheese, nasty half-assed cooked potato pieces (of course plenty of that) and a feeling of hopelessness and self-guilt for spending 8 bucks on this garbage. Well, at least garbage was good once before it's thrown away. Stick to the blueberry muffins which are great, but this was so bad can't find words in a Thesaurus to describe the level of terribleness and inspired me to write this tragic review.
