Customer Experience -- Very Disappointed…read more I've been a loyal customer for years and have spent thousands of dollars at Fruiterie Maruti in Cote St-Luc over the years, but after today I won't be back, unless Sunny one of the owners contacts me with an apology and invites me to come back for 2 good papayas at no charge. About a month ago (for the 1st time), I bought two papayas that after 2-3 days golden in colour were hard and inedible when cut open. When I returned and told the owner Sonny about it, he grudgingly replaced only one papaya because I didn't have a receipt. A receipt, really? I accepted that one replacement, though I felt it was unfair, as I bought 2 and paid for and both which were hard inside and no good. Incidentally, I consider myself an expert on papayas as I've been eating them my entire life. I know when to cut them open, and when they should be ripe and ready to eat. I've heard that transporting them from wherever they're grown to the final destination could cause them to freeze or go bad if not properly protected handled. Today Sept 25, 2015, I returned do do more shopping and had about $150 worth of groceries in my cart, including two new papayas. I brought back two bad ones from last week, which I brought in as Sunny had asked me to do if they ever weren't good. He also suggested I call the store right away and speak to him which I did try and do, but neither he nor his brother Rocky were available, so I held onto them until I was able to return a few days later. I'm recovering from a broken femur and walk with a walker or a cane and I can't just go out anytime I want to. Instead of gratuitously resolving such a minor issue, he told me that I was the only one who ever complained about his papaya, and that I should have returned them within two days. He also told me that I should have kept the receipt ( who keeps fruit receipts)? He actually doubted that I'd had tried to speak with either or his brother Rocky , but when I called a few days ago whoever answered told me they weren't available. Today he again insisted on replacing only one. He then walked away from the cash and left me waiting for about 5 minutes not knowing if he was coming back or not. Meantime, I wanted to pay and leave so I asked the cashier go and find him and he finally returned. When I explained this was making me anxious I then him told him that I could always take my business elsewhere,. Sunny then told me: "You know what, never mind -- don't take anything and just leave." I left without my groceries. For someone who has shoped there for fruit and vegetables many years, this was certainly not the way to treat a very good customer. Sunny's handling of this was rude and poor business practice. Unless I receive a sincere apology, I will not return -- and I hope others think twice before shopping here.
