We have been with the school for three years and would recommend it to others. Other things to note: there are new owners as of this year (they seem great). The open hours (7:30 am to 6 pm) are some of the longest as compared to other daycares in the area which has been especially helpful with the return-to-office traffic and the struggle to get out of DC. The school is receptive to feedback and problem solving when specific issues arise. They were able to accommodate my kiddo's allergies (the school offers breakfast, lunch, and snacks a few times a day). And the curriculum has a great mix of activities, including science projects, gardening, other play-based learning, and intro to very basic reading and writing skills for the older classes.

My daughter, Kathani, has been here for about 15 months and the growth has been incredible. Ms. Shakia is truly a baby whisperer. I'm not kidding -- she has taught my kid things I couldn't get her to do at home, and then all of a sudden Kathani comes back like she's been practicing choreography in secret. She is also the ONLY person on this planet who got my child to wear her Trolls headband. Miracles happen in that classroom. Ms. B, Ms. Kyra and Ms. Shanica have been so kind, supportive, and patient with her. Drop-offs used to be emotional in those early months... and now my child literally runs to them and gives everyone hugs. That kind of trust is earned. And they earned it. The front desk team, Ms. Dorsa and Ms. Abby, are the kind of people you actually want to see before you've had your coffee. Warm, friendly, never rushed. And Ms. Megan gets the big high fives at pickup -- a whole routine at this point. And the admin leadership, Cidney and Celia, deserve a real shoutout. The communication, the consistency, the tone of the whole school -- that comes from the top. They have built a culture that feels safe, joyful, and intentional. As a first-time mom, I needed somewhere that would support my daughter and make this whole working-mom-life possible. Primrose has done that and more. I'm so grateful we found this place. They have become part of our village -- the good, dependable, loving part. Highly, highly recommend.

My daughter was just about a year old at the time. I was impressed at the ownership Flori took with her own new business. She created a great environment for the kids to play. They had fun toys to play with, books to read, and she also did art projects with them. This part of Arlington County is so difficult in terms of finding a spot in a daycare for children under the age of two. I was so relieved that with Flori, I had a seamless transition between the old daycare that closed and her new one that opened. I didn't have to take any days off work between the transition. Flori was also flexible with my schedule, and was happy to let Alexandra stay later if I thought I might need to arrive late from work on a given day. We stopped attending the daycare because we moved to Maryland.

Now that she has her own place, she has been caring for our younger son for the last two years, from his earliest months. My husband and I both work full time, and with 2+ years of experience with Flori, we couldn't be happier. Our son adores her and always goes to her happily. Often in the first year, he would cry... when I came to pick him up! He loves being with Flori and we owe her so much for taking such wonderful care of him. Developmentally, Flori helped our son get into a napping/mealtime schedule as an infant, introduced him to many foods as a toddler, and is now working with him through potty training. She sends photos of their activities, including art, songs, and outdoor play, and he is always happy with her. He comes home singing songs in English and Spanish, counting, and talking up a storm. Flori also provides snacks and lunch, which is lifesaving. We also appreciate Flori and Garden of Dreams for flexibility. When we have needed to vary the hours (at either end of the day), Flori has been more than accommodating. She has also been open for many of the smaller closures that tend to affect schools but not working professionals, and has welcomed us bringing both our children to stay with her during snow days or lesser holidays. She has also provided babysitting in the evenings, which is a great resource to have. Flori has a great deal of experience working with children and has always gone above and beyond in doing anything that our son has needed. She loves him like one of her own and we've been very lucky and blessed to have her be the one to spend time with him every day during the week. I recommend Garden of Dreams highly.

If it weren't for that, we would have loved for him to stay here as long as possible. It's hard to put into words how incredible this place has been for our family. From the days when he could barely lift his head, to learning to walk, talk, sing, and share stories about his day, we've watched him grow into a happy, curious, and confident little boy--all thanks to the loving care and nurturing environment of Family Academy. He not only learned language and knowledge, but also good manners and a true love of learning. The teachers are absolutely amazing--kind, patient, and so easy to communicate with. My son is a slow and picky eater, yet they always gave him extra time and gentle encouragement. They care for each child as if they were their own. The administration team is just as wonderful; they know every child by name and engage with them warmly every single day. What makes Family Academy so special is not only the quality of education but the genuine love and attention they give to every child. The environment encourages exploration, creativity, and curiosity about everything in the world. I could see every day how happy my son was here.I am deeply grateful for everything the Family Academy has given to our son and to our family. This school is truly a treasure in the community, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to any parent.

Under the center's care, my son truly blossomed. Well before we expected, he was singing songs to us, identifying letters, counting, and more. And most indicative of this center's awesomeness--my son was always so happy to go to school. It also meant a lot to me that the staff and teachers made genuine, impactful efforts to include our family's culture alongside mainstream culture, for example welcoming us to send in books about our holidays, directly engage the class in activities, and share ideas for the teachers to use. Would recommend Family Academy to anyone!!

At the risk of sounding like complete snobs, we have a nanny during the week, but use Bright Horizons back up care through our work in case our nanny is sick or on vacation. Here are the pros and cons of this location: Pros: - It's cleaner than other locations and much more organized in each classroom. Both times we've used it, the front desk experience has been odd, but once you're in the classroom, they are organized. - The staff are more engaged, friendly, and competent. They are the type of people you'd want to take care of your child. -The classes are capped so there isn't a flood of children allowing more attention to be given to your loved one. Cons: - If your child is quieter, it's easier to get lost in the pack. This isn't a Bright Horizons issue, but a daycare issues. It may socialize your kid, but for newborn babies, it's easy to get lost. If you're in a bind, this is a great option for back up daycare.

Our family, unfortunately, had a very poor experience at Bright Horizons Rosslyn early this year…read more(February-March). Our son was ~6 months old. Among the many issues were these major ones: - There was little to no consistency in caregivers and poor communication between the caregivers coming in and out of our son's classroom, so there was no predictability for him in his day and he had a hard time adjusting. We often found front desk administrative staff filling in for trained caregivers. - There was no separate napping area in our son's first classroom, and in fact his crib was right next to the area where circle time happened so he had a hard time settling (his morning nap happened to fall during circle time). In our son's second classroom, his crib was next to a boom box playing loud music and a disco ball projecting colored lights onto the wall. Needless to day, he had a hard time sleeping. The directors were surprised when we suggested white noise versus music and said "he will adjust in time." We saw no improvement over 6 months and our son was sleeping ~1-1.5 hours/day, on a good day, when he should have been sleeping ~3-4 hours/day. - I observed some caregivers being physically and verbally rough with infants. - There was poor adherence to the cleanliness standards that BH advertises. I raised these issues with the director and while she made many commitments to improve the napping environment, caregiver consistency, and other things, we did not see any changes and moved our son to another day care center. I do not recommend.

Michael often requests that we take a trip to China. When he asked again today, our daughter, Brianne, started singing "Ni Hao Parker". We couldn't believe it!! We are so appreciative of the education on diversity they receive from their teachers who do an excellent job discussing different countries, cultures and languages with them!! There are countless similar stories ranging from their teachers working with them on motor skills or learning basic skills/concepts or exploring various topics. The school is also very flexible and supportive of our family given that both my husband and I work full time! I would highly recommend this school!

I had been warned that securing a daycare spot for an infant in Arlington County was a horrendous…read moreexperience and that no childcare option would be perfect; however, my experience with Bright Horizons (BH) at Courthouse has been nothing short of Exceptional. As a first-time mother and planner, I placed my unborn child on waitlists across Arlington when I was 8 weeks pregnant. My various encounters with the other neighboring daycare centers were less than ideal given their lack of transparency with waitlists (despite my calling for updates, I was often given a run-around), dated facilities, poor health requirements for teachers/caregivers (e.g. tDap and Flu vaccine, which is recommended by the CDC) and one exceptionally rude director. Megan and her welcoming team at BH Courthouse were completely transparent with their enrollment/waitlist process from the beginning and have continued to provide me and my family with a sense of security that is priceless. We transitioned to BH after having a nanny when my daughter was 5.5 months old and have never looked back. The backbone of the center is its outstanding director, Megan, who is a great communicator with a friendly open-door policy. Her experience with children, BH and daycare in general makes her a solid resource and her commitment to excellence is always evident. The teachers are also exceptional. They are passionate and truly love children. The transition from home to daycare was remarkably easy and I owe that to her teachers who honored my parenting style, worked with our prior routine (making appropriate recommendations as indicated) and listened carefully to my questions/concerns. I never worried about her safety and could see how tenderly they cared for my child every single day. There is careful attention to cleanliness and hygiene at BH Courthouse, particularly with the rate of illness and risk of contagiousness among infants. The center does a great job communicating with the parents about any contagious illness if/when it occurs to prevent spread and keep everyone safe. We receive updates/pics through the BH app, and while I wish I could see more of her throughout the day (there are no video cameras), I almost always had a solid account of what her day entailed in terms of diapers, feedings, naps and activities. There was even one time where she started developing a minor diaper rash and I was called as a courtesy given she was not previously prone to diaper rashes; the BH policy requires teachers to change infant diapers every 2 hours and while we went through a lot of diapers, I felt the prioritization of her hygiene and health far outweighed the cost. When I transitioned my child to solids, the teachers were critical in helping me understand if/when to try something new, how much she was consuming and ideas for how to encourage independence with feedings. Our transition to the toddler classroom also occurred with tremendous ease due the clearly outlined process incorporating scheduled visits and activities over the course of weeks (thankfully, not an abrupt move from one classroom to another) as well as the support of the teachers and director. The culture of the center and the teachers' happiness was evident to me from the day I entered the facility prior to enrollment. Even now, my daughter and I are consistently greeted by staff who are not even directly involved in her daily classroom. When my daughter was hospitalized in the PICU, two of her teachers traveled to an inconvenient hospital to visit her and teachers from other classrooms put together get-well cards for her as well. The BH at Courthouse feels like a family and I feel lucky to have enrolled my child in their care from the beginning.
