I recently took an extremely informative two day workshop here where the foundry owner, Ronnie Frostad, gave us an overview of the entire bronze casting process, a tour of her immaculate foundry, and later coached us as we learned to sculpt in wax. I had been thinking about having a sculpture cast in bronze and knew too little of the process to make any informed decisions on how I wanted it done. I had contacted the foundry after finding it online, then took their suggestion of taking the September workshop. I learned so much! Not only that, the sculptures we created will then be carried through the rest of the labor intensive process by the foundry (sprued/gated, covered with 7 layers of a ceramic/sand mediums, fired to remove the wax and harden the ceramic shell, pouring the bronze and finally, even adding the patina.) It is an incredible deal just for casting our bronze sculptures alone, but I am most appreciative of all I learned about the process and related information like budgeting and marketing. Another extra bonus is hearing some of Ronnie's fascinating stories about being one of the first women to start a foundry in an extremely male dominated profession. It was more than evident her passion for the art and how wonderfully she cares for her clients. I will definitely be back to have work cast here. If you take the workshop, you will know why they produce superior work. I could go on and on--I highly recommend this foundry and the workshop! read more
