2 to 3 times per month I'd take my workers to lunch to say "Thanks" for jobs well done, and the Frontier Grill was chosen at least once a month for over 18 years. Even though ownership changed hands they were able to keep some of the best aspects of the experience. You can't beat their daily lunch special for value and it was just a great place to relax and enjoy each others company before going back to work. Truly, I never did get tired of it. read more

I am originally from another (more populated) part of Utah, but now live in Roosevelt. It doesn't matter if you are a local or not - this restaurant is just bad. My friend who has lived here 15 years described it perfectly - everything tastes like hamburger. Not A hamburger, but as in ground beef. Sadly this is the only sit-down place in town, so it somehow manages to stay in business. We've been here maybe three times (people keep giving us gift certificates to Frontier Grill - WHY?!?), and the service is always bad. The hostess never greets with a smile; you're lucky if she acknowledges you. Everyone says the scones (fry bread) are delicious, but my husband ordered one that came out gooey in the middle and refuses to order them again. I've had luck with the burger and the Navajo taco being alright, but I'd still rather cook at home than eat here. It's pretty expensive for what you get when you consider quality, not quantity. read more

One of the if not, the worst restaurant i've ever ate at. the carpet and seats are old as hell, it smells like grease immediately when you walk in, it has no atmosphere. the food is subpar if not terrible. greasy, no flavor, i could make a better breakfast at home blindfolded with one arm then what they serve. i've eaten here at several occasions and have been disappointed every single time. let's start on some of their dishes. the eggs benedict is rancid to put it lately. old muffin, terribly cooked egg slathered in their poor excuse for hollandaise sauce. the breakfast options are downright pitiful, offering typical american food but somehow worse then how other establishments arrange theirs. the lunch options are no better with their burgers being disgusting piles that might as well have been deep fried. at this point i'm pretty sure the waters deep fried. the only redeemable part of this restaurant is the price. it's cheap it's easy and you get what you paid for. i would give it a zero if i could. read more

This is really the last option when choosing to eat out in Roosevelt, UT. I have never been impressed with either the food or service. The food is just not good - and my husband swears the water stinks. Service is slow, and not helpful. One time in particular we stopped in to celebrate a milestone and wanted pie, yuck! We took our brother to the Frontier Grill for a birthday Dinner. I made a reservation three days in advance. The best part of the meal was they had an area ready for us. Great! The accommodations, service and the waitress did a great job taking all our orders and serving us. Great! But the food? Fair to terrible, some ordered a hamburger and fries, one the hamburger was warm but the fries were cold (frozen), another that the fries were warm but the hamburger was cold, in fact we all inspected the cheese which was not melted. It looks and tastes like most of the meals were just warmed over from being cooked previously. Not impressed and this place doesn't hold a candle to what I remember from the Harmston days. I will be hard pressed to ever have the desire to eat at the frontier grill again. We walked in at 1 pm and we were told to sit anywhere we like. We took the large corner booth in the back. There were people in a few tables for lunch but the place wasn't full. It took 10+ mins for us to get water and menus. We should have just left at this point. I had to ask for these items because they weren't freely offering. After this our waitress visited our table once more to take our order, once to bring our drinks and food, and once to bring ketchup and napkins. No drink refills (we had three adults and six kids she knew we were there) she brought to go drinks when we asked at the end, and as she picked up plates to clear the table, one dumped into my mother in laws lap. She never brought our ticket so we had to get our check from the front when we were ready to go. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but while not taking the time with our table, she had plenty of time to talk to the table three down from us for over five minutes at a time. Food was ok, but service will stop me from returning when we visit Roosevelt in the future. Start to finish it was 1.5 hrs and we ordered two salad bars, two chicken nugget meals, and one fish and chips, not much food for it to take that long. If you eat here just beware, you will be waiting. read more

Every year we come into town it's tradition to eat here for only breakfast. The first time I had a good meal. Now this may be our 4th year coming here and the food is still the same and prices are sort of high. --Last year I tried be smothered burrito and I didn't realize it was going to have beans in it. I had choice to eat it, the beans made the meal dry. -- this time I ran out of options of what to eat. Just typical one or two egg breakfast. I had sausage and it didn't taste like sausage and I love sausage!!! It just tasted like a beef patty. I also got pancakes and the syrup was so watery it was weird. Wasn't sure if it was normal to serve it that way. Plus the pancakes were a little on the dry side. Other than that bring a jacket because it's like an ice box in here. Service is good. Didn't get welcomed in but our waitress greeted us and checked on us a few times. Large portions for high prices. read more

If there was a lower review I would give it to them. The sirloin steak was $22, we ordered it medium, it came well done and tasted like liver. We also ordered a French dip and the meat was like really bad steakems. My 13 old said even the fries were nasty and asked how do you make bad fries. Way overpriced and the food is horrible. It was the only place open after 9 in this town. Go to McDonalds the food will taste better and that is no exaggeration. Do not eat here for any reason!!! read more

It used to be good. I would go for the scones and the rolls. And the dinner menu would come with soup or salad, roll or a scone and the entree. But lately, the vegetables taste like someone opened a can and heated them up until they were mushy, and put it on a plate. It isn't easy running a restaurant business in a small town, and finding consistency in a meal is important. If I like something, I'm going to keep ordering it and expect it to taste the same each time I go back. The scones are great! But the rolls sometimes are very dense, instead of being light and fluffy. I hope they can find some consistency in their meals. read more

This place used to be so good, but has really gone down hill in the past few years. They are the second worst restaurant in all of the basin but are the most expensive. My family started to boycott them about a year and a half ago after quality and service started to decline. This past week we decided to check in and see if anything had improved. Firstly, everything seemed clean and the salad bar looked great (they do have a great salad bar). I went to the downstairs bathrooms to wash my hands and saw one of the grossest things I've seen in a restaurant. One of the cooks was in the stall and his apron was on the floor near the toilet. As soon as he heard me enter he moved it out of sight. I've worked in restaurants and know that that apron will touch food surfaces and he will surely wipe his hands on it. That being said, I decided to stick with the salad bar but my family was still looking forward to a full dinner. That quickly changed when we saw that they had raised the prices a lot. Everybody got sandwiches and burgers for the price of steaks at other restaurants, partly because they hoped not to get sick. My salad bar was quite good, and that's something they've always done well. I'd recommend it even though it's $8 for a plate of salad with no meat. You also get a scone that's got a metallic taste to it, I couldn't eat it. On the way out we asked the cashier if they were always so slow (3 people were in the huge restaurant at dinner time) and she said yes, ever since the oil industry slowed down. That's not true though, people stopped going there because the food got worse, prices higher, and service crappier. We've got too many restaurants in town now for The Frontier Grill to survive without trying to compete, even Taco Bell is a much better alternative. read more

I am from a different part of Utah and went to Frontier Grill on a couple of Saturdays ago. I got the open faced (it's actually Steak) with Potatoes, and vegetable. I also brought my Cherry Pie home to a friend's house. The Scones were really good!! I liked the Steak and it was cooked just the way I wanted it. The Pie was good (a bit too sweet for me). It was different (not in a bad way) as it tasted like a Hostess Fruit Pie Filling instead of the chunky traditional filling I am used to. I am planning on returning soon! read more

I'm not giving any stars due to the fact that they don't deserve it. Our scones were hard. Fish and chips were disgusting not to mention the tarter sauce was gross. We had to ask our server for assistance. Any good waitress will be on her toes to ask if you need anything. No customer should have to ask for anything extra. All condiments should be available when food is served. Don't expect to leave a tip for a shitty waitress, they automatically add the tip to your bill. This appeared to be the only non-fast food place open (on my GPS), though after eating we drove by another diner west of town that was open. The Frontier Grill was seat-yourself, which was posted, but after sitting down we didn't get any service for a few minutes, so we went to fetch someone for a menu when we should have left instead. We barely beat the Church crowd, which seemed ample. Once we chased down a host, the service was reasonable, but nothing special. Our crew ordered a couple Ruben sandwiches, a Navajo taco, and a beef soft taco. French fries were served with the sandwiches and the taco; they were okay and of good quality. All of the entrees were sub-par. The Rubens had low quality cheese and slaw with a lesser quality corned beef - the worst Ruben I've tried (tasted one after my friend could no longer tolerate eating it). The Navajo's scone was okay, but was topped with what tasted like chili from a can - poor. The beef taco was definitely filled with beef, a bit much for my liking, and was of fair quality and taste - I wouldn't recommend it. If any of these were priced under $5, I would cut them some slack, but this was not the case. While this crew normally avoids fast food, we all regretted not going to a fast food restaurant instead. read more

A friend and I were traveling in the area and she started to tell me about the great fresh scones they had there. So we stopped in so she could get a scone and dinner. We entered a very outdated dining room and sat at a booth. my friend ordered her scone. as we were looking at the menu the scone arrived some 30 seconds after ordering it. My friend check and it was an old, cold, & stale. she sent it back and they brought her a fresh one. Not really what I call a scone, but it did taste good. at this point we both ordered the hot turkey sandwich. We got our food and it was stone cold. we told the waitress and she took it back. She returned with it a minute or 2 later. They had simply put both plates in the microwave to heat them up. when they did this it turned the turkey into rubber. The mashed potatoes were instant as I am sure the gravy was. Will never go back. read more

I lived in Roosevelt many years ago and Frontier Grill was the best place in town. Homemade desserts, soups, rolls and scones. My wife grew up in the Basin and said this place was the "go to" place to eat for as long as she can remember. The place was consistently wonderful! Amazing food always and wonderful service, most of the time. I was back in town for a night and decided to eat here. Yuk! I ordered the chicken cordon bleu and can I just say, I like the Schwan's frozen chicken cordon bleu better than theirs and it doesn't cost me $16.00 for one, granted I got fries, who gives you fries with chicken cordon bleu? I thought I would at least get a choice of sides. Usually with the dinner menu, you can get a baked potato. What disappointed me the most though, No sauce on the cordon blue, It was dry and flavorless. I was glad it came with soup and salad but they were not anything to write home about either. I wished I would of went to Taco Time and got some crisp bean burritos. Sadly, the service wasn't good either. Farewell old friend, I shall not see you again. read more

We had dinner at Frontier and I ordered a steak cooked medium rare. The steak arrived in two pieces, one was cooked medium rare and the other was medium. It was so tough, it was not edible. I complained to the waitress and asked if they had another cut that could be tender. She said all the meat was the same. I asked to not be charged for the steak. They would not budge. I brought the steak home and fed to my dog. I live in Roosevelt but will never eat the Frontier Grill again. Poor food quality and poor service. read more

I've lived in the basin my entire life, that being said I've seen the grill at its worst (about a year ago) and it's best (about ten years ago) and boy oh boy do I have a lot to say about this awful restaurant. To fit everything here I'm going to paraphrase, I do not have a single family member or friend who has not had food poisoning at least twice from eating at the grill. We as locals have shunned the restaurant (aside from a few members of surrounding communities desperate for an eatery and service) and when new management took over the filthy, dim lit, pathetic cafe we tried to enjoy what used to be a community favorite. A cleaned up version of the original with the same menu items it didn't look very promising, we were right. Horrible service from angry waitresses was at least understandable when there was a two inch layer of dust on the blinds but the entire idea of new ownership is to get rid of the bad things from a restaurants past, not to keep going with the same frozen premade food and disgruntled staff. In short the grill sucks. And no one should eat here. read more

First we, two adults and two kids,were wanting Chinese food, but the local place was closed since it was Sunday, as were most other places in town. We decided to try out Frontier as we drove by. The atmosphere was dark and dingy, but we figured it would be a good local diner. We were wrong! While looking over the very over priced menu we asked our waitress questions about sandwich and soup/chili options, to which she basically said she couldn't do anything outside of what was on the menu...didn't even offer to check with her manager (turns out there was a reason for that). The kids were happy with their food, as was I, however the second adult meal we were served was absolutely disgraceful! Chicken strips that were so over cooked they tasted like charcoal. We waited for our waitress...and waited and waited. Finally approaching the hostess to voice our concern about the chicken we were told there was no manager on site, but they could call them if we wanted...uh, what?! Our waitress gave us dirty looks as we asked the food be taken away and that we did not want anything to replace it. We were so done! Once we got our ticket we realized they had charged us and extra $1.50 for fries with the kids meal, though they neglected there would be an extra charge.
