It's been over a year since my last visit and in that time the practice seems to have re-invented itself. It's on two floor now and the dermatologist I used to see is gone. The staff is even more friendly and my new dermatologist, Dr. Kevin Fajardo, is just as friendly, professional and quick. I was in for a skin check and it was quickly taken care of. I left the office with complete piece of mind and the knowledge that I need to stop comparing moles on my body with pictures of cancerous lesions that are handed out at, uh, dermatology offices. This review is not a reflection of the actual Medical service but about the ability to contact Frontier Dermatology in Poulsbo. I needed to schedule a Mohs Surgery and couldn't get them to call me back within a reasonable timeframe. Everytime I called there was no one to pick up the phone and I wouldn't receive a call back for 48 hours. When I was called back I was unfortunately unable to answer (perils of the pilot profession- no phone access in flight) which would reset another 48 hours of waiting for a callback the next time I attempted to call them. I eventually had my pathology sent to Polyclinic in Seattle and scheduled the surgery on the first call (Polyclinic will answer your call). read more

Billing and scheduling departments do not work in tandem and this is just your classic turn and burn clinic that provides very little "care". I would look elsewhere for quality care. Everything, starting with the scheduler. Train people to ask questions and show that you care about the client instead of what insurance they have. If I get sick before my appointment and make effort to contact you to reschedule, maybe check your messages. Wow, hate to say but the couple times i've come here i had good experiences. The only issue i have had is reaching someone to make an appointment. i leave voice mail & send emails and it eventually gets done. I came to West Sound because my previous dermatologist retired. That doctor office had 2 dermatologist retire, so lots of people scrambling for replacement. My experience with staff has been good enough to return. i'm a low maintenance person who spent too many years in a sunnier climate. My routine appointments have been handled by mid levels (NP or PA). i actually prefer mid levels as an entry point because in my experience (in general) they have more time to spend with you and hear your concerns. My dermatologist in a sunnier state would schedule 16 people an hour. That didn't happen here. read more

5 Stars for back office staff and doctor. 0 stars for everything else. The review should average to be 2.5 stars, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt today and rounding up to 3. First the good: Back office staff and the care received by the doctor. Friendly and professional staff. I've been going to Dr. Levishon for years and years and have always had confidence in her. She's always been compassionate and given me great care. Then the not-so-good (or bad) This practice is now owned by big medicine. That was a surprise. What that means for those of us who self-pay is that we pay more. I wasn't informed of the change in their policy before I arrived, so I was faced with paying a $75 cancellation fee for cancelling when I arrived and was told the news, or continuing with my appointment and paying $80 more than the appointment should have been. For about the last 12 years or so I've been a patient I've gotten a discount for self-pay, but that went away for me this year with no advance warning. This change in policy should have been communicated when I made my appointment, when I received the reminder for the appointment, or when the change was made. It's fiscally good for big med, but fiscally irresponsible for patients. The only one who had concern for me on this day was Dr. Levishon. One major issue was the appalling behavior of the front desk staff, who displayed both rudeness and ineptitude. I found myself dismayed by the additional costs that came out of my own pocket, and their indifferent attitude made the situation even worse. A simple display of empathy on their part could have made all the difference, but it seems that was too much to ask for. Those who work with people should understand that showing kindness is key to diffusing a situation rather than escalating it. Unfortunately, this memo seemed to have been missed by the staff. I do want to acknowledge one exception--a friendly member of the front desk team (whose name I don't know, otherwise I would give her a shout-out). For those of you lucky enough to have this covered by your insurance plan then the change in costs won't affect you. read more

The doctors at this practice are actually good and I felt my exam was thorough. My problem is with their third party billing system. They don't support on-line payments and you have to either mail a check or mail your CC information. I did the latter, but it never posted. When I tried to call I was on hold for over thirty minutes. WSD - please enter the 90's and have an online payment system. I won't go back for this simple reason as I have wasted an hour trying to pay an $84 bill. read more

Unprofessional. My mom had a procedure done (biopsy for skin cancer). My mother informed the nurse (whom we thought was a doctor) that she was on blood thinners. The nurse operated anyways. The very next day she bled out and we had to go to the ER for an adrenaline shot to her face to get her to stop bleeding. She complained of severe pain long after the hospital visits. We had complications and after we expressed them to the Physicians Assistant, the PA did not tell the other nurse. We never saw a doctor , although we should have. They don't have any doctors taking patients right now. You will only see a nurse. They said that my mama wouldn't feel any pain. She felt every bit of it. They stabbed her in the face multiple times despite having numb it, she felt all the pain. She is traumatized. After complications from the biopsy, the PA didn't pass on the info to the attending nurse. My mother informed the PA (whom we thought was a doctor at the time). She told my mama she'd be fine. At this point, after all the miscommunication, and disregard for my mothers health, we didn't want to see the same people again. We asked for a new doctor at the next appointment. Not only did we not get a doctor, we got the same nurse that screwed up my mothers biopsy. Very unprofessional. I'll be reporting y'all to the BBB. Update: We walked right out of that clinic after the third appointment and then not giving us a new doctor. It was at that appointment we found out that we never saw a doctor. A month or two later an actual doctor from the clinic called and admitted that my mother should have seen an actual doctor. The nurse and PA at West Sound Dermatology originally thought (3rd appointment before I walked out on them) my mom ought to have another operation while awake because that was the only way. She ended up having surgery at Swedish Medical Center instead, where they had to put her to sleep while they operated on her because the cancer was so big. It's complete malpractice at the fault of West Sound Dermatology. They had no clue what they were doing. They made it worse and Swedish had to fix it. read more

I went to West Sound Dermatology after initially being interested in their cool sculpting services. I had a neighbor who had loved her results so naturally I was interested. I had a consultation but was told in order to proceed forward I'd have to put down a deposit to reserve any initial appointments. A deposit of $2500 (the procedure total was going to be between $5-10,000 depending on how many sessions I ended up doing in total). I was a little on the fence but decided to proceed after I was assured that if I changed my mind they would refund my money no questions asked. Well, I did change my mind and I've now been trying to get my money back for 3 months. I've made numerous phone calls to them, and every time I am handed to a different person and told a different story. First, it was that it was being refunded to my card. Twice they told me a check was in the mail. The latest BS is that they can't give me an answer about what is going on because "the employee handling it isn't in the office". I'm fed up and about to report them to the BBB. For all I know they might provide great procedures but their scammy billing practices and withholding of my $2500 made it so that I've warned others from using them. read more

Poor Scheduling, Waiting room was full with 30 to 45 min. wait times. PA way over scheduled. What is the deal with the lady on the zoom call watching. The signage in the waiting area was offensive. Suggesting that the customer will be charged for not cancelling. You can't charge for services not rendered. Your pre-visit questionnaire is woke to the core. Asking about pronouns, it tell me that your organization has gone racist and gender destructive. If your organization can't be serious about medical treatment instead of political ideology you should get out of the business. You have offended all Christian's Muslims and Morman's with you ignorance. read more

I first became a dermatology patient in 2019. My initial experience with a different provider was very positive. I had three moles removed for biopsy at that time. Thankfully, my results came back benign. Due to the spots I have covering every square inch of my body, I was encouraged to get annual skin checks. Due to COVID, I did not attempt to return for a check until 2022. Come to find out, they don't accept the insurance I had (Molina through Medicaid). As someone with state sponsored insurance I was already prepared to pay out of my own pocket for care, to make sure I didn't have anything cancerous developing. After two pregnancies during the pandemic, I had a lot of changes in my skin including new growths, and a number of pre-existing moles on my back which are difficult to inventory due to their location. I told them I would be a "patient pay" but they would not allow it. If you have Medicaid, to them, you may not be seen by paying cash. This feels like an extremely discriminatory practice, and a dangerous barrier to early cancer detection. Here I was concerned about my spots, cash ready to pay, and was denied an appointment. It hurt my feelings, too. Fast forward to 2023, and I am now gainfully insured through my husband's employer. I was able to schedule an appointment for a skin check (again at my primary's recommendation due to some spots she saw during a routine physical). I did not have a referral from my regular doctor as I was told it wasn't necessary. The day for my exam finally comes. I was nervous to be seen, but looking forward to getting a clean bill of health. What I didn't expect was how I would be humiliated by Dr. Hardaway and her MA. I was already in the exam room when the MA informs me that Dr. Hardaway doesn't recommend skin checks for people who have no history of skin cancer. I was confused to hear this. Did I schedule the wrong type of appointment? I still don't know for sure. I had to "insist" (MA's words) that I wanted the skin check in order to proceed. Yes I have spots that I'm concerned about. Everywhere. So MA leaves, I strip down to a gown, and wait a while. Dr. Hardaway barges in with her MA in tow - no formality of an introduction, how are you, nice to meet you, welcome to the practice. She used a sensitive tone of voice but her attitude made it clear she wasn't taking me or my health or my time or money seriously. I got choked up as soon as she started pressing me what I was there for. I told her to look and see, there were a lot of spots, old and new. She gave the fastest exam I've ever been subject to. She didn't bother to look in my bikini region and I had to stop her from running off, awkwardly pointing out a couple of concerns in my pubic hair, splaying my legs in a completely embarrassing fashion because I wasn't given the dignity of a proper exam. She said everything looked fine and was out of the room in under 4 minutes. FOUR. I started bawling as soon as they left the room and took a while to compose myself before exiting the practice. There is NO WAY that Dr. Hardaway can feel proud of the care she provided me today. It should be criminal to bill my insurance for that "visit." I guess their philosophy is if you didn't have skin cancer before, you can't possibly develop it in the future. Even if other doctors have recommended a skin check. With a more positive experience I may have been interested in some cosmetic treatments/removal of some spots that are bothering me, but wasn't even given an opportunity to discuss it. read more
