I guess there has been a suggestion here on Yelp by the owner of Frontenac Boarding Kennel that I am not a real customer nor have I been to their facility. Trust me, the only being who wishes that were true is my poor dog. While rummaging through a drawer the other day I actually found the "receipt" the young girl gave me at Frontenac Boarding Kennel. I posted it in the photos for my account if you want to view it. As stated in the original review, it was $84. So how about that Mr Owner? I will never ever bring my dog back to Frontenac Boarding Kennel. Ever. read more

I love Frontenac Boarding Kennel, it was a great first kennel experience for us and our dog and I will definitely be bringing him back. My wife and I had never gone away without Max but when a last minute situation came up and we had to bring him to a kennel we were nervous. We had brought our dogs before Max to kennels but never FBC so we thought we would give it a try. When calling them they were friendly, informed us of everything we would need to bring for Max's visit, and confirmed our drop-off date. The day came to drop him off, my wife and I were nervous about dropping him off because we treat him like a son but once we got there all the nerves went away. We were greeted by a young lady. She smiled the whole time I was there. She seemed to know her way with dogs, letting Max smell her hand before petting him, and in the time I filled out information she knelt on the floor petting him and keeping him calm. I was not worried at all about Max's stay once I saw how interested she seemed in him. Before I left I informed her that it was Max's first stay at a boarding kennel and that my wife and I were a little nervous for him. Shje informed me about how some dogs do not eat as much as normal and they tend to be shy at first being in a new environment and not being used to the commotion of other dogs. We returned a week later in the late evening, we called to inform FBC that we were home and asked when a good pick-up time would be. My wife and I went to pick-up Max the next morning. This time we were greeted by a gentleman. I assumed this was the man I had been talking to on the phone. I asked how Max was during his visit and my wife stated how worried she had been the whole trip. He said that Max did great, was a little shy and nervous at first but then eventually came around. I had expected that being informed by the young lady that it may take a bit to get used to the environment. The gentleman went back to get Max and he ran out to see us, the man followed behind with his belongings. The man and I sat and chatted for a bit about Max and how long he had been in business, etc. I asked how much the total would be, he looked it up, I handed him the check, and he said thank you and asked if there was anything he could do for me. I asked for a business card, I shook the gentleman's hand and my wife and I were on our way. I have since become a regular at FBC whenever we go out of town and are not able to bring Max along. He gets so excited and anxious every time he goes for a visit and has even made a new friend with the owners dog. We have never had any problems with scheduling, pick-ups, or drop-offs and I recommend them to all friends and family that ask for a good kennel. read more

You cannot tell anything from a website. We brought our 4 cats and 2 dogs 800 miles to stay at Frontenac Kennels for a short time while we were closing on a house in the area. The owner assured us he had proper facilities for boarding ALL our animals. BUT through his negligence, all 4 of our cats were lost. The owner did not tell us he didn't have cages for containing the cats, only after they escaped did we find out he simply allowed them to roam around the front room. The owner left a slding window open wide enough for scared cats to push through a flimsy screen and they disappeared! A person with proper knowledge of cat behavior would never have left cats unattended, unconfined, next to many barking dogs, in a strange place, with an escape available! We managed to recover only three of the cats, they were bug-bitten, skinny, and one has lost most of the hair on his back from stress. One cats has completely disappeared- At our expense, we bought live traps and have been checking them, and searching the woods. I am heartbroken. The owner did not charge us for boarding-which was the very very least he could do. He does not have the proper facilities for cats! He should not be boarding cats, and I saw he changed on his website "We no longer are able to provide boarding for cats"- changed after my cats escaped-yet, on July 9, 2012, as I was searching the woods for my still-missing cat- THERE WAS ANOTHER CAT IN THE SAME OPEN ROOM, TRYING TO ESCAPE THROUGH THE SLIDING WINDOW. Because of this, since the owner has continued to keep the same practices for boarding cats, I feel I have to tell people of our sad, could have been prevented experience. I was very surprised reading one of the reviews on here. I hope you will take a minute or two to read my review as well. Our two year old dog was well cared for by Frontenac Boarding Kennel. She stayed there for two weeks recently while our family went on vacation, and she came back to us happy and healthy! Our pup is rather high-energy, however she was nice and calm when we returned, an added bonus... I could tell she got some good exercise outside while we were gone. Prior to having our dog boarded, I stopped out to meet the owner, Joe, and get a little tour. I left after my tour believing that Joe cares about the safety and well-being of the animals and that was worth its weight in gold. When we dropped off our dog, there were several other dogs there at the same time, and a cat. (The cat was, of course, in a separate area). The animals all looked content and clean. As relatively new dog owners, we are pleased to have finally found a place where we can leave our pet, knowing she is in capable hands.
