"Ok I'll bust out the crayons for you"…read more My ex-husband and I went to them to help us with our 2018 taxes after our divorce was final. It was our first time using an accountant, so we had no idea what to expect cost and service wise. First, our final preparation fee was twice what we were quoted. We paid $815. Second, the amounts of what we owed/were refunded fluctuated by hundreds multiple times. Even before they sent our taxes to the IRS, the amounts changed. Nervous, we went ahead and let them file our taxes. When we received notification from the IRS that our taxes were filed incorrectly, we contacted them and asked them to help us understand what had happened. In the text exchange they said "Ok I'll bust out the crayons for you". Our questions brought defensiveness, "I'm unsure if you believe us or not that we have both been in this professional field for 5 years not including college", when all we wanted was to understand why my ex's return was so much less and mine was so much more than expected. We used an accountant so our taxes would be filed correctly. If we were going to send them incorrectly and have the IRS correct them, we would have done the taxes ourselves.

He is a seasoned accountant who offers a wealth of knowledge and services to individuals and businesses. I've known Stephen for 6 years - we worked together in operations management for a retail franchise. I always appreciated his sense of organization, attention to detail and easily relatable personality. He was just so great to work with for those reasons. He and I have both moved on from that scenario, and when I heard he went into business for himself I was delighted to sign up for his services. The fees at Brew City Accounting and Taxes are reasonable and affordable. I appreciated that. But more, I appreciated the attentive detail that went into preparing my taxes. It's really nice to know that someone I trust is going to bat for me against the federal and state government. Stephen is like that - he cares about his clients and wants to help. Whether it's finding a qualifying tax deduction, making a suggestion to improve efficiency, or picking up the phone or stopping by an office, he will do what it takes to get the job done. Brew City would make a great partner for any small business looking for a thorough and reliable accountant to help with bookkeeping, because Stephen has been doing accounting behind the scenes for more than a decade. He's got a thorough understanding of inventory management which is also a plus. My taxes aren't really hard to do, but I'm horrible at numbers so I was glad to turn this detail over. I was simultaneously shocked and delighted to learn that for the first time in six years, I got a federal tax refund. Stephen humbly attributed it to overtime I've worked. I'm going to give him way more credit than he'll give himself! I'm glad I'm a client at Brew City Accounting and Tax, and I'm looking forward working with them for years to come!
