I'm from the Capital District and was attending my son's wedding in Corning, NY and needed and updo. My daughter called Fringe and set up appointments for herself and me - she also wanted make-up. I can't say enough how pleased we both were with the outcome! My hair was so perfect for the wedding, and bonus was i was able to "save" the style using the braid and combing out the curls for a top bun the next day. It looked great for the brunch! How did someone delete my review without my knowledge? I waited almost 6 weeks just for the appointment and when I got there I was told they did not have me on their schedule! They were kind enough to fit me in later the same day. Color to cover the gray, a few foils and a great haircut was over $100.00 which would be fine BUT at the very first wash ALL THE COLOR CAME OUT of my hair exposing all the gray I couldn't wait to get covered up!! I tried calling the salon repeatedly, but no human ever answers the phone..you are directed to use the website. I used the website, but still no one has contacted me. I do NOT recommend them for all the reasons above, HORRIBLE color that washed out at the first shampoo, BAD, BAD, BAD communication and even worse at on line appointments that they say they did not get. I cannot believe this place has so many 5 star reviews. My advice to anyone who cares about their hair even the slightest bit is to stay far, far away from Kayla. Normally I would not publicly name and shame a stylist, but my self confidence has taken such a massive hit from this that I want to save others from going through what I experienced. I am shocked that someone with a cosmetology license could do what she did to my hair. I will attach photos which pretty much speak for themselves. She was also very very rough while cutting my hair. I actually posted photos of my cut on Facebook in the largest group for professional hairstylists. It quickly became one of the most commented on posts in that group. All of the comments were in shock and horror that someone could do this to a clients hair. They also informed me that since the angle was too shallow and too far back in the hair for the face framing, there is no fixing this without losing length or waiting till it grows out. The salon didn't even apologize and refused to refund me, dismissively stating that they don't do refund. If you have a stylist this abysmal working here, you better start as I paid money to have my self confidence completely destroyed. The owner offered to fix it, but the consensus is that it's really not fixable. I was not given the service that I asked for. This salon needs to think long and hard about their business practices and whether or not they care about their clients. I am a healthcare worker and working through the pandemic I was not able to put as much time into my appearance. I was hoping this cut would help me feel pretty and gain some self confidence, but I feel ashamed to leave my house looking like this. read more

I had a new stylist at Fringe, she was pretty young and new to the profession which made me nervous at first. But it ended up being a wonderful experience! She was so open to my input and we worked together to decide how to cut my hair. I have thick curly hair which can sometimes be hard to deal with. The cut ended up beautifully. It was $45 for a cut which is pretty standard at the smaller salons around Corning. The atmosphere inside the salon was fun and trendy. I think I will make Fringe my new go to hair salon! read more

Fringe has a clean green vibe! Stylists are youthful and up on trends but can still give your hair a classic look. Products are fantastic!

I visited Corning for a wedding this past weekend and wanted to get a quick blow out. While walking down Market Street I came across Fringe, which is an entirely green and Aveda concept salon and made an appointment for that evening. Being from NYC I'd say that I have pretty high expectations for how I like my hair done, and I was seriously floored with how awesome my hair came out. As in she did my hair better than some places in Manhattan where I've paid triple what I paid at Fringe. They just opened last month, and I absolutely recommend making this your salon if you live in the area. I wish I remembered her name to give credit where it's due! read more

So this place is a fairly decent Aveda salon. However the services I've had here are just mediocre, if that. Crooked brow waxes & extremely strange cuts- one side being way longer than the other, weird in back, etc. I love Aveda & I think these girls, especially the younger ones, need a lot more classes & trainings to be up to par. The price is also more than I pay in bigger cities for much better cuts, services from Aveda salons. read more

My "go to" place in Corning. The staff is great and I am always happy with the finished product. There isn't a better place around.

This is a great salon and I highly recommend it. I have been to expensive salons all over the world, and this place is not below the caliber of celebrity LA and NYC salons. But, their prices are much better and getting appointments does not take an act of Congress. At this salon, you will get upbeat, friendly stylists that know all of the newer trends and styles. They can help you find a color and cut to actually match your face, leaving you looking better than before. However, they are not pushy and would not talk you out of the old style you've had since the 80s, if that is what you love. One thing I'd like to add is that their color products were gentler on my hair and scalp than when I've colored at home. I am sold on the Aveda products they use. Again, they are not pushy about selling their products. Best of all, I got my own carafe of pressed coffee and dark chocolate while getting my hair done. How great is that?
