The inflated price seems to create extremely entitled, mostly older gym-goers, that hoard 4-5 sets of freeweights at a time, and then hold loud 45-minute work calls while monopolizing a cable tower and glaring at anyone who comes close. If you want your routine to take 2 hours to do half as much actual lifting, spend 20 minutes trying to park, and still cost literally 10x as other gyms, then go for it. And hey, at least the locker rooms are clean. Just never try to cancel. They will call, text, email, and otherwise harass you to re-join every 2-3 months for the rest of your life. And no, they do not listen to requests to stop.

She is absolutely incredible. She's extremely knowledgeable and does such a great job explaining the "why" behind what we're doing, which has made me feel so much more confident in the gym. She also has a fantastic eye for form and knows exactly when to critique, when to push, and when to remind me that I am, in fact, capable of doing the thing I'm convinced I cannot do. I'm hitting personal bests in most sessions, which still feels slightly ridiculous considering the fact that at the beginning of the year I had basically no idea what I was doing. I also started working with her postpartum, so rebuilding strength and confidence in my body has felt especially meaningful. She has helped me focus on what my body can do and celebrate that, rather than getting caught up in where I thought I "should" be. If you've ever felt intimidated by weightlifting or thought, "Yeah, that's probably not for me," GO SEE HER. This place falls into the latter category. It's an old, refurbished firehouse, run by a cool guy, who gives off old fireman energy (that's a compliment btw. I know a couple people who refer to fireman as "fire cops" and I strongly disagree with that branding). It's my understanding that this is unlimited access once you sign up, but I only do drop in for day use when I'm in town and I really appreciate how easy it is to do. Interior design is relaxed with sports and music related art work. They have all the equipment that the vast majority of people will need. There's occasional mask wearers so if that's something you want to wear, there's no dumb jocks staring at you uncomfortably. Generally fine music although, tragically; like most places in San Diego, it plays too much 311-sublime-Jack Johnson-white guy rock. This is a small knock, as most people are wearing headphones or ear buds and the place is otherwise rad. The fact that there's not more reviews on it, lead me to believe that people are trying to keep it from getting too crowded.

New machines look better engineered and they have a large supply of different kinds. This price to enroll beats any public gym x10 Only $36 for 16 weeks plus $17 fall semester health fee. Lockers and showers are always empty and they even have a nice bike training/cardio class I might sign up for next time. The bad side is the hours are 8:30 am to 1:30 pm than they take a break until 4 pm until 7:15 pm, but it never bothered me as I am a morning gym person.
