In interesting monument near Københavns Hovedbanegård, this 20 meter tall obelisk is in memory of the abolition of land reforms from 1788. The foundation stone was initially placed by Crown Prince Frederik (later Frederick VI) on July 31, 1792. The monument itself was completed in 1797.
The tall obelisk is surrounded by four smaller statues that symbolize fidelity, [bondage from Google Translate, or peasant diligence from Microsoft Translate], bravery and civilization.
Worth a stop to look back on history from 220 years ago.
It is located on Colbjørnsensgade between Bernstorffsgade and Reventlowsgade. read more
