Update.. I stand by my initial review! Also it took years and additional training before he carried my service dog. She really has no clue as to what she is talking about and is trying to "spin" an incorrect tale. I never miss represented my riding abilities they just lied about the horse. They said he was safe for a beginner and he was broke for trails. Neither was true. It took our trainer at the barn working with him daily to get him where he is today.. Yes he has an amazing personality and runs to me as soon as he sees / hears me and will follow me... we have an amazing connection but he was sold green broke at best to someone who didn't know how to ride! I was very honest in that and still don't know how to canter!

I got recommended to Friesian Marketplace after I lost my Friesian mare in October 2018. We gave Cheryl and Kelsey a call and my mom and I were very excited to travel to South Carolina from Kentucky to possibly find my next dream horse. After my loss, I was skeptical of finding "the one". Meeting Kelsey and Cheryl was a real treat. I instantly felt welcomed and cared for. They were very honest and open about which horses would work for me and gave me lots of helpful tips. They showed me a couple horses, and the second I saw Daisy (now called "Nala") my heart recognized hers. I felt a connection almost instantly. Once I hopped on, I was hooked. She was such a fun ride and made me feel confident in the saddle, and Kelsey and Cheryl were both very encouraging of my new adventure with Nala. I've owned her 2 and a half years now, and she has changed me for the better. She's taught me patience, love, determination, and that it's okay to mess up. I love her so very much for all that she's given me and for being a best friend to me. I didn't think I'd find a Friesian that was perfect for me after my loss, but I definitely found her at Friesian Marketplace, and I will forever cherish my time I had with Cheryl and Kelsey and will always hold it dear to my heart. Thank you both so much for connecting me with my dream horse and best friend. I'll never look anywhere else for a Friesian and will always recommend you guys. Much love from Paige and Nala

I bought my Friesian Ellert at Friesian Marketplace. I hadn't owned a horse for 40 years and was very nervous about getting the right horse. I had seen videos on line of Ellert and fell instantly in love. I flew down to South Carolina and he was so tall it really scared me.Cheryl and Kelsey were really great they worked with me and showed me what a great horse Ellert was. I am so thankful for all their help. I could not love a horse anymore then my big guy. He is perfect for me. In addition they were great about taking care of the transportation to Nevada and all the things I would need. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a Friesian they are very professional and they care very much about both the horse and rider.

Unfortunately we will not be buying any more Friesians any time soon ...only because we now have the BEST 3 at our farm from Friesian Marketplace ! We love our new addition Valentijn and he is another fantastic dream horse that fits right into our family...He is the most amazing and tall horse I have ever ridden! Thank you again Kelsey Lake and Cheryl Baird! *Update* We took our amazing boys to High Bridge State Park and crossed over a huge high bridge, the boys never flinched and trusted our guidance...Kelsey and Cheryl, you have the best quality and loving Friesians!

Hi Cheryl and Kelsey,  I wanted both of you to know how well Xander is doing. He is my true HEART horse. I never dreamed I would be able to find my perfect horse, but with your expertise and help I did. He was everything you said he was. The description of his training and behavior was spot on. The videos of his training completely and honestly represented what is level of training was. I think he's even better than what you said. He is amazing!! Everything with his purchase went smoothly, you made sure of that. The pre-purchase exam done in the Netherlands was complete and exceptionally well done. I say this because my husband is a veterinarian. You also made sure his teeth were floated, new shoes put on, booster vaccines and new veterinary exam done for insurance purposes. A complete package of Care. Xander's travel to my farm was seamless thanks to the arrangements you secured for him. He came newly groomed and with a care package to boot. LOVE THE SHIRT!!  Then that's not all. When I needed help with training and grooming questions you never hesitated to help me (I called a lot). Your kindness will never be forgotten. What more could anyone want. My next horse will come from you. Thanks so much.

After trying to familiarize myself with Friesian's and doing lots of research on my own I thought I knew the key questions to ask. I had followed the Friesian Marketplace page for a long time and finally reached out. I spoke to Kelsey online and over the phone, not only did she answer every question I had, but also encouraged me to come down and see the horses in person. I couldn't be happier that I did! Fast forward to the day I went to look at the horses, they provided me a list of good places to stay and were so accommodating. I've been in horses all my life but had never had a Friesian. From top to bottom I feel fully prepared for every inch of Friesian care! Tried and true products and I was able to buy a saddle directly from them. It has an adjustable tree so it fits my boy perfectly! The horse I bought and i couldn't be more perfectly matched! He is a total dream come true!! I never once felt pressured to buy a certain horse, like I had at other farms. From start to finish the process was so smooth and easy! Cheryl and Kelsey stand behind their horses 100% they take the time to really learn who each horse is. I fall more in love with Sierd every day and I couldn't imagine buying a Friesian from anyone else! Thanks again!

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at Essentia in April and had around 150 guests. We were…read morelooking for an affordable venue with amenities, but couldn't find any we liked until we found Essentia. With the price, we also got dance lessons which were a BIG help for our 1st dance! Starlina was so helpful and professional before and during the wedding! She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier. Choosing this venue for my big day was the best decision I made. Essentia was absolutely perfect and I would recommend Essentia to ANYONE for ANY occasion. The staff is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the decor is breath-taking.

I did not even want to give 1 star and this is why!:…read more The only things that this vendor provided were the two dance lessons included with the wedding contract and the initial consultation! When trying to pay for this venue, we hit some snags financially since I was in between jobs. I would call at least a week in advance to let her know if a payment would be delayed. (This only occurred twice) Even with the notice Starlina was very rude and not flexible at all. We tried to let that go, and we did. We did notice that she only seemed concerned after we paid. She was not friendly at all until she was paid in full. Then we wanted more dance lessons to show off. We forked out for those lessons too! When we realized our budget was getting out of hand we tried to reason with her. Now full disclosure here, yes in the venue contract it says no refunds. But here is our problem with that. We just let her know yesterday about our change in plans because of budget. Our wedding was not even going to be until October 2016 and we booked her in August of 2015. Well over a year in advance and we cancelled well in advance as well. She did not even want to do a refund even on the dance lessons, which no contract was ever signed saying we could not get our money back. (We only did 3 out of 10 lessons) What seemed so outrageous is that anytime we tried to schedule lessons, she was ALWAYS BOOKED!!! I would get off work at 5pm but we had our dances at 7:30pm. Then every time we talked to her or other customers it seemed she always had some kind of event going on almost all week! So we knew she had plenty of time to fill the day with another event and fill our unused lesson days with other people. The thing about all of this is that we were not even asking for all of it back, at the very least we only wanted half back. Plus, the 2 times I met her mother she would be rude to her in front of me. Be family and do what you do, but be professional in front of customers, no speaking down to your mother! Now she is mad about the review on Wedding wire and disputed it. Good luck because I will just do this every where else! Oh and before she tries to say she offered to help us with the dance lesson money back, she only did so after I told her I would post a review and let people know our experience! (I have the email to prove it!)

Stopped by The Spinning Jenny on whim while camping in the area over the weekend with some friends…read more The facility was dog friendly, allowing pets to sit on the patio, which is always a plus for me! The studio has a great variety of wine to choose from and wine tasting are reasonably priced. We all sampled a variety of wines and all agreed the Viognier was are all around favorite of the day! We ended up buying 2 bottles to bring back to camp with us! The owners were also very friendly and elevated the experience even higher! Definitely recommend a stop by for anyone in the area.

The good...it was a cool night and the inside was moderately cool, but not cold and not overheated…read more We were there for a concert and the seats on the side were a mix of old chairs and couches, mostly comfy except for the one couch no one sat in because it sinks down to the floor. That was a waste of space and seating. Bar had a good selection of wine and beer, and the server was attentive. The bad...this was a show with 3 acts, the best and most popular for last. We sat through the first two and were excited for the third and that's when the disappointment hit. Seems that the third act and sound man were disagreeing over the set sound. As some one who has worked in the field and worked a sound board, I'm really putting the blame on the sound guy that couldn't handle it. I understand musicians are cocky and want things a certain way, but don't work with creatives if you can't handle it. The sound guy pissed the singer off, turned all the lights on bright, and essentially caused it all to end early. Sorry, we pay money for the act, not an event employee to have a fit. The audience was confused and after speaking to several other attendees after, they too were confused and disappointed. Some had driven from Charlotte and Asheville for this concert. As others have mentioned people will stand right in front of you even if your sitting. Make a standing area in the back. Being handicapped, I'm also surprised that they let a food truck use the handicapped designated spaces near the entrance. Seriously considering not going back and skipping any more shows here. I love supporting local, but don't appreciate how their artist conflict was handled.
