the ONLY positive thing i can say about this reservation is that the location and apartment itself was fine. however, this was all overshadowed by my experience at the friendly rental office in Madrid. I arrived earlier than my check in, was exhausted after sleeping 2 hours and being sick all night prior and the morning of. The man at the front desk stated I could sit in the back and charge my phone a bit before my apartment was ready. I sat in the back part of the office and rested my head on my arm to close my eyes when a woman (40's, blonde highlighted hair, slender) yelled. "HELLO HELLO, EXCUSE ME YOU CANNOT SLEEP HERE. THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR SLEEPING. OKAY???THIS IS A BUSINESS!. THIS IS AN OFFICE. NOT A PLACE FOR SLEEPING" Now if you work at a place called FRIENDLY rentals and are in the business of hospitality, comfort, and accommodations that is NOT the way to talk to your guests. A more civilized person might ask if i were okay first and then calmly explain that I cannot sleep there. Not yell at me like I am a homeless person sleeping on her floor. Needless to say I left shortly after, feeling like i was in a hostile environment. I complained to the front desk person who apologized and told me that she was THE BOSS! there was no one else I could complain to. He also expressed that he and another coworker expected she would react to me like that. So this is her usual behavior. I called Barcelona main office and requested a refund of the first night, seeing as how she completely ruined it. They refused and only offered a 6% discount to future reservations. WHY would I want to book through them again after that...and 6%?? that is ridiculous. Oh! I might add that when I walked into the office, there was already another argument happening between guests and employees. They proceeded to talk about them more after they left. The apartment was fine except there was NO basic comforts such as salt, sugar, cooking oil. Very inconvenient if you're only staying a week. Also, only ONE roll of toilet paper. Stingy and mean. I do NOT recommend this agency unless you want to risk ruining a potentially beautiful vacation. read more

I had a very different experience with this company than the other reviewers here. I stayed at the Museo Reina Sofía apartment in Madrid, and it was modern, well-decorated and well-stocked. I cooked at least a meal per day in the kitchen (which was lovely). Check-in was easy. Plus the location was excellent. We did have one issue we had to contact the office (in Madrid) about, but they worked with us to resolve it quickly. I would stay there again. read more

The apartment itself was more than fine. The location was good too. I struggled with the fact that the company provided very little in terms of basic necessities - no sugar, no salt, no coffee, a limited supply of toilet paper and no paper towels. This was fine for a our limited stay as we planned on eating out for most of our meals. There was also no way to contact the office except for calling. With the number of international guests they must have, it would been great if they had responded more quickly to emails or if they used WhatsApp (which can be used with WiFi.) read more

Unfortunately, there is no option to rate ZERO stars. DO NOT rent from Friendly Rentals. Broken Air Conditioning in mid-summer Madrid, leaking faucets, poor shower drainage, and absolutely AWFUL WIFI. And unlike the one other review, this was NOT a cheap place. And that is only the high-level of our issues; please read on... Upon our arrival, they refused to meet us at our apartment and instead made us drop off my mother in a random neighborhood on a one lane street in the middle of a crowded festival as foreigners in uncharted waters. Additionally, the company works a mere 8 hrs per day and claims inability to provide service after hours even though they are a service company. They are "closed" on weekends, and do not follow through on appointments to come by the apartment when problems are reported. Friendly Rentals is an absolute embarrassment of a company and we will not only be fighting for a FULL refund, but also ensuring that they receive cross-site negative reviews in hopes that they wake up and figure out how their industry actually works. Beware of Friendly Rentals Plaza Alamillo 8, Entr. 1a! We had a nightmare experience with Friendly Rentals when we rented their Plaza Alamillo 8, Entr. 1a apartment from Sept 11-16, 2014. We were a total of 7 adults and 2 children. Firstly, there was no A/C in the apartment and being there during the summer was uncomfortable even with the 3 electric fans. The apartment is very dated. Some electrical fixtures are broken, like the light switch in the kitchen. The microwave button was broken so everytime you open the door, it falls off. The cushion in the couch is torn in half. The bathroom smells of sewer, and the sink is dripping water. The washing machine never really dried our clothes even if the apartment manager claimed it was both a washer and dryer. The stove top kept on locking up so we couldn't turn off the burner. When we checked out, I went to the ofgice to talk to Raquel, our contact at Friendly Rentals and to show pictures of damages in the apartment and when I complained about our experience, she metely shrugged to say that it's the cheapest apartment they're renting so what can we expect? Wrong answer. Worst of all, they gave us a difficult time with our damage deposit. After following up with them countless times to no avail, I had my niece in Brussels talk to them directly. They finally admitted that it may have been an accounting error. So after 1 1/2 months, they credited us with an amount that is not even the entire amount we deposited, and we are still awaiting the balance. I'm still reeling with shock that a company like this is allowed to be in the hospitality business. I strongly discourage anybody to do business with them. If you're American, go with Airbnb which we used for our Barcelona apartment. The difference between these two experiences were night and day- from the facility to the customer service. read more

Although they were very easy to contact during my stay in Madrid, they are giving me the run around and hung up on me when I called on several occasions to inquire about my security deposit refund. It is almost a month later and I have still not received the $575 security deposit they promised would be refunded weeks ago. read more
