I like that they have a variety of seafood options in the menu. This helps encourage my wife to try this restaurant. So we decided to order takeout to gauge if we like the food. We each ordered the 3-taco dinners (my wife had the Seafood Tacos Chipotle with Maui-mahi & Shrimp while I had the Tres Amigos platter with Al Pastor, carnitas & steak) all of which tasted great but the fish portions were skimpy. But the thing that bothered me the most was how long it took them to bring out our takeout order. read more

messed my order up. people don't listen when taking orders. I ordered 2 carme asada dinners and they keep substituting the meat with cheap meat you can't even chew. This has been my favorite place to eat when I came to town but last five times its been nasty but when it's on is amazing tired of spending my hard earned money 3rd class meat and beans are different tonight as well. No it's not Saturday night... So that means full price. read more

The food honestly was not great. The environment inside the restaurant would make you think it would be higher quality. Not the worst Mexican restaurant but I've tried it twice with no luck. read more

I really don't understand the bad reviews. i love their food and drinks. Wait staff is kind and timely. It's honestly my favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

Should you ever decide to eat at Friaco's, make sure you check your bill BEFORE paying it. We were overcharged, and when I noticed it the next day and phoned, the woman manager could have cared less. So, I brought her the receipt, showing the overcharges for three people, and she just talked in circles. She absolutely would not do a thing to correct the overcharges. She is the WORST manager I have ever encountered. Also wrote to the General Manager who never bothered to answer even though their website says one will hear back within a short time! STAY AWAY FROM FRIACO'S. If they don't care about charging you the correct price, do you really think they care about what they serve you!!! read more

Everything is always amazing and service is excellent. The place is always packed and and the restaurant is very nice. Food is consistently awesome. read more

Just had the worst dining experience at Friacos. Our server came took our order and was never seen again. Had to flag down other staff members to get our drinks, which came after our food was served. We could have just walked out and not paid no one was paying attention to us. We have never had such crappy service before. I really hope other patrons don't have our guy as their server. Very poor experince. Should have just gone to Casa Maya, thought we would change it up a bit. Never again! read more

I tried the steak taco. It was good considering it was at an outdoor event but kind of pricey at $4 each.

We've been searching for our Mexican spot and I think we found it! Service is always great and there's always a reason to come here: Taco Tuesdays for their fish and carnitas tacos,, their choriqueso, the quesadillas, good beer prices. I don't know why people dog on this place. It's fantastic and I think everyone should give it a try. read more

My family ate here tonight and everything was great! Great service. Margaritas, queso, chicken fajitas- everything was delicious.

We've been here a few times, but yesterday was probably the most memorable. I went to dinner with my son, around 5:30. We were promptly seated. My son said he'd be right back, he had to wash his hands. Before he even came back, I was greeted by Jose. An older gentleman, gray hair, that asked if I'd care for something to drink. I told him I'd like something, but that my son was washing his hands, and would be back. My son came back and Jose came right back to get the drink order. He brought the drinks and chips and salsa, and we ordered our food. The salsa was already being replenished, and our food was ready. Jose came by to check if the food was ok and brought us more drinks. I can't tell you when the last time a waiter was more attentive. I am usually the one that notices exceptional service, but this time my son also noticed, which isn't usually the case lol. He said- wow.. this waiter is great! He's really on the ball with everything! We literally felt like we were the only customers in the place. He made that dinner enjoyable . I told Jose that his exceptional service made our day, and he so humbly, said thank you. I like to give credit where it's due, and I did ask for the mgr. to let him know he had a great server, and that we would definitely be returning and asking for Jose. A bad server can, and will ruin a dinner out, no matter how good the food is. We pay a lot to treat ourselves to a night out. I just wanted to say, thank you again. I couldn't have asked for a better server. read more

It's been a year or so since I've gone to this restaurant. Went to lunch today with a few people. The waiter was nice enough, but he took the order of six people without writing anything down. When I asked him if he would be to remember it all, he said of course. Well of course he brought one completely wrong meal (not even close). Brought the wrong kind of shells. And oddly, right after the lunch rush cleared out they changed from the typical Mexican music to loud rap music. It was as if maybe the manager went home and the employees were having a good time. read more

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but I had a chicken mole enchilada and it was amazing. I don't find many restaurants with mole. The wait staff was attentive and the ambiance was a little dated but good. When my wife says she has a taste for Mexican, I'll be steering towards here. read more

Very nice patio area! They have lights all around, both covered and non-covered areas, and tables are at a good distance. I loved the little bike with sunflowers in the basket, nice touch! They brought us each our own separate dish of salsa. The salsa was mild and can be enjoyed by everyone! One of the group had a bowl, you know, it was like a burrito in a bowl without the carbs of the bread. She said it was very good and she would get it again. The other person in the group had a burrito and the plate was licked clean. What does that tell you?! It was a lovely meal in a lovely, pretty, spotlessly clean environment! read more

Great Mexican food. The Steak tacos were seasoned great portions could be a bit bigger. The margaritas are fire. Out server Chris ware quick and friendly. Definitely recommend read more

The chicken enchiladas were yummy. It is my go to & Friaco's never disappoints. Also, service was great.

Food was not good. Didn't get everything we ordered for take out. Jury wasn't worth it to call about it because I wouldn't go back to get it and we have no desire to order from there again We live close and my wife was there waiting for the food to be finished, so it definitely was not a case of the food sitting for too long. It was probably 5 minutes tops from when she got it to when she got home with it. read more

I came here with my family of 10 around 4 pm on a Wednesday night and we were the only ones around. Service was good, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I did notice some staff members not wearing masks which did make me a bit uncomfortable. They start you off with chips and red salsa and water served with lemon. We also got a pitcher of mango margarita. They bring out glasses with salted rims and limes. I found the experience overall enjoyable and the food was cooked well. The salsa verde was more like a crema which was different. The tacos come with stands that my younger cousins enjoyed very much. read more

terrible customer service and too loud of music food was mid tbh smh, they never told my party that they charged for refills

We went to the new naperville location which does not show in yelp yet, but vegetarian food was bad all round Bean soup was not well textured, enchilada was no enchilada at all And street corn had a funny smell in the cheese Ambiance music was nice Will not likely go again read more

Took my family to dinner here and was told by neighbors it was a great new place on I-59! The food was really bad , had Cheese and beef enchiladas , could not find tortillas in either and tasted like it was reheated. The Margaritas we ordered tasted like it was over aged mix only. If you have ever had great Mexican food don't go here! A lot better at Taco Bell and a hell of a lot cheaper. Stan S. Aurora, Il. read more

Margaritas are the best , excelente service and definitely the ambiance is very cool experience

This place is packed every Friday and Saturday night. We wish we could call ahead for seating, but they do have a waiting area. Food is amazing, and everyone raves about the queso cheese dip. It has a slight kick to it, and it's great to dip the free chips they give you, or in my case, I like to drizzle it on my burrito. The servers are great for dining in, they have a pickup window if you just want to call ahead and drive up, and we also catered with them for a private party at our home. They have a driver who delivers the food in a van. We frequent the Joliet area location, but I heard they also have one in Naperville by the Fox Valley Mall on Rt59. read more

Our first visit to this location. I was a bit leery after seeing all the negative reviews, but decided to give them a try. We were pleasantly surprised with how great the food and service was! Our server, Mike was very attentive and extremely helpful and friendly. Started off with a mango margarita (half price on Thursdays) that was delicious and refreshing. No skimping on the alcohol like some establishments do when drinks are half price. I tried the Carne Asada con Camaron. Very good! The steak was a bit over cooked, but still very tender. My wife had the steak fajitas and enjoyed those as well. The endless chips and salsa they give you were very good as well. Not too sure why they have so many negative reviews. Maybe they have improved for the better. We will most definitely return!!! read more

Order The Friaco's enchiladas and was very disappointed. The meat was not seasoned and was dry. They did not bake the enchiladas. They were plain tortillas pulled out of the pantry filled with plain meat with sauce drizzled over it. Portions were small as well for $14 a meal. Sorry to say will not be returning here because they are not like it used to be. read more

So while this was nowhere near the best Mexican restaurant we have tried it was enjoyable and we would definitely eat here again. To start with they were short handed so we tried not to let that play into our decisions on this place. The staff was all very nice but our waitress couldn't make a recommendation and when asked literally listed every margarita they sold as what she recommended. I have to admit it was one of the worst margaritas I have tried. They was no flavor other than a sickeningly sweet sugar flavor. That was the only thing we were disappointed in. The chips and salsa were very good. The fajita burrito, the refried beans and the tamale were the hit of the night. The steak tacos and the shredded beef burrito were just ok. The mahi mahi taco was good if you got all the flavors in a bite. My first bite had only fish and while it was ok it was very fishy flavored, the rest of the taco had sauce and avocado and it was very good. With them being so short handed it did take over 10 minutes before anyone noticed we were waiting for the check but again that hopefully will improve as they get the staff they need. read more

Intro It was 8:30 pm, about an hour after my volleyball practice, when I heard it, a loud rumble in my stomach telling me I needed food now! I must have sweated off all of the nutrients within that two hour practice because it felt as if I hadn't eaten in weeks. As I'm searching my house for something to settle this possessive hunger, my stomach only wanted one thing, and that was a quesadilla. I quickly googled hispanic restaurants near my house, but I wasn't in the mood for any old quesadilla. My body needed the best I could get, so I made sure to check the reviews before leaving. Suddenly there it was, Friacos Mexican restaurant. The reviews on this place were very promising, and I'm very pleased to say it was nothing short of stellar. Interior design I'm not one to believe in love at first sight, but that idea completely changed as soon as I walked into the restaurant. It was like walking into your own room after a long day of work, it was very cozy. You automatically begin to feel welcomed, but the first thing I noticed was the music they were playing. I had no idea what the song was called but it just made the place far more enjoyable. Customer service The customer service was top notch, they were quick with helping me get seated and getting what I would like to drink with an appetizer to munch on before the real meal gets here. Even while the restaurant was very busy, they consistently checked if I was ready to order and when I did the food didn't take any longer than 10 minutes to get to me. Food quality After a short amount of time there it was, my steak quesadilla. The smell alone was already satisfying me. I wish I could savor that first bite forever but I couldn't. I must've eaten the food before the waiter could even leave. The melted cheese combined with the stake was almost too good to be true. With that being said the food was perfect. Overall With all that being said the only minor flaw I would say would be the food may seem a bit pricey to some people, but honestly it's worth it. The beautiful interior design and cozy feeling, to the amazing customer service and damn near perfect food quality is why I highly recommend going to Friacos to any and everyone. read more

Good food, good service. Bartender was attentive and food came quickly. I had fajita nachos and they were good.

Disappointed. I normally love Friaco's. Today is 1/2 priced margaritas. I ordered a skinny margarita in which I was advised that yes, those were also 1/2 priced about 1 month ago. Today, I guess not. So when I got the bill and saw $37 for 3 skinny margaritas, I almost spit out my drink. So when our waitress came to grab our bill, I started taking to her and she acted like she didn't hear me until I got a little louder. Then she stopped and I asked her about the bill. She admitted that ONLY THE HOUSE MARGARITAS are 1/2 priced. I said ok, I wish I would have known that because I wouldn't have ordered it...and said it twice. She literally said nothing. No I'm sorry, I should have told you, nothing. Could I have done some research? Sure. But apparently someone wanted a bigger tip. I hope I never get seated with her again. read more

Worst service by Manager Mike. I placed an order through Uber and they did not have my items, however accepted the order. I let the employee that called me I could only get my money back if they did not accept the order. Since employee did not know how to do that, I asked for Manager. Mike came on the line. Mike was very ignorant and has no problem resolution skills. Only resolved my issue after I asked for owner and let him know I would post this review. read more

We did a online order on Father's Day. When we placed our order it said that it would be ready in 20 minutes. So we knew it would take us about that long to get there so we left. We waited for our order for about a hour. The kept telling me that they are working on it. The restaurant was not busy, which were were surprised when there were hardly any car in the parking lot. After an hour & going back home out order was all messed up. Our sampler platters looked like they just threw whatever in the container & called it good. Every order has something wrong or missing. I did call to let them know that our order was wrong & was told I would get a partial refund on a order of $95. Well I'm still waiting & have called & emailed them many times. The first times going there it was good but won't be going back. read more
