I am sad to have to write this review. Fresh Green has been my go-to dispensary for going on 3 years now. They had great service and good prices. Additionally, they gave a 15% discount on Friday and Saturday. I am on a fixed income, so this was very helpful. I primarily buy edibles because they work well on pain, and I also have a nasty, chronic sleep disorder. I smoke and vape a little to control my anxiety. The greeters and bud tenders were always very helpful and insightful. I learned a lot about different products and what worked best for me every time I went in. Over time the quality of the edibles got better and better as more brands became available.
My last two visits have been very unpleasant. The first one was about two weeks before they opened for recreational users. I have always been pro-recreational use. I've used cannabis my entire adult life. I started as a recreational user but as I got older began to use medicinally. So, a few weeks after Christmas I go in with a happy, fat wallet full of Christmas money to stock up. The bud tender was stand offish and impatient. I have found, in the past, that I get better results if I ask for their input on products rather than just looking stuff up online. This is how I learned the difference between live resin, cured, etc. This particular budtender seemed miffed that I wanted his input. Additionally, I discovered that they no longer carry Chill Cakes. Chill Cakes were my go-to for doing projects as they keep me energized and focused for hours. I asked the budtender why they stopped carrying them and got a very odd response. He said he wasn't allowed to talk about it. I laughed and told him that that just made me more curious. Was there some controversy? Was the company unethical? So, I joked that I was going to have to Google it to see why it was such a secretive thing. He got pissed! He said it was company policy that they did not disclose information about the business to customers. I thought it was weird. If I asked my hairstylist why they stopped carrying a certain color or product, she would just tell me. It was an innocent question driven by curiosity and a desire to know why I would no longer have access to one of my favorite products. I wrote it off as the guy was just having a bad day.
My next visit was about two weeks after they opened for recreational users. The place is completely different know. It is not even a remotely chill or relaxed environment. They were blasting music so loud I could barely hear myself think, let alone hear the budtender that helped me. There was no one working there over about 25 and they were all dressed like they were going to a nightclub or party. It felt like I had stumbled into a GenZ hell of indifference and lack of professionalism. And they no longer give the 15% discount on Friday and Saturday. The only reason I went in on those days was for the discount. I would much rather go during the week when less people are out. As I've said, I have anxiety. I am much more comfortable with fewer people in a relaxed environment. If I am going to subject myself to people, it needs to be a mellow, happy place with friendly interactions. I am unsure why they would stop offering the discount at least to the medical patients. We're the reason they even have a well-established business to begin with. I had a coupon for a lower quality but more expensive brand of edibles that I used, and the budtender took pity on me and discounted the cart I bought also. I am giving an extra star for him.
In the future I will be going back to my original dispensary in downtown LS. I may order my favorite gummies from Fresh Green from time to time if they ever manage to restock them. The budtender said they are very popular and is expecting to restock. I thought it was kind of him to explain that rather than getting bitchy with me for deigning to ask him a question! If I preorder gummies only and just have to stop by and pick them up, I'm hoping it will be less stressful than just going in there to shop. I may ask the other dispensary if they would consider stocking the brand I like. I hope they are more amenable to considering their customers' needs. Their prices are a tad higher and they have a very large, armed security guard in there which can be a bit intimidating. But I would rather have a big armed guy that is there, in part, for MY protection than walk into a rave environment that makes me want to run home and not have any more social interactions for the next week! Also, their website says they offer discounts to medical patients only. I don't know how much the discount is, but I am glad they are at least attempting to reward the customers who helped build their business. Plus, they are locally owned, and I am happy to pay a few dollars more to support a local business that focuses on patient care and courtesy.
Goodbye Fresh Green. It was fun while it lasted. read more
