For the last 4 years, every…read moreChristmas, our family has trekked out from Quincy to this beautiful little Christmas tree farm to pick an evergreen to bring home and put in our livingroom for the month of December. This place is simply magical. Tucked away on the back of a gravel road, this farm sprawls over 13 acres of rolling country hills. Different sections of the farm are planted in different plots, so your family is likely to find their own private section to shop from, if they so wish. Saws are provided on fence posts outside of each entrance, and each plot is fully fenced in. The little plots are surrounded by beautiful timber and farmland scenery. You truly feel like you've escaped the city life and walked into a real life Christmas movie. The trees are planted far enough apart that there's a wide grassy walking area between each row, so viewing and sawing is convenient. There are many different types of trees, so you'll find the species and height that's just perfect for you. There's everything from 2-story high spruce trees to Charlie Brown style pines and everything in between. The everygreen woody smell is simply perfect as you wonder through with your family. After cutting, you bring your own tree back to the check-out area (which is the front of their family home), where they'll cut a straight base at the end of the trunk and shake off any dead needles. They provide twine to tie the tree to the top of your car and will help you get is secure if you need it. Tree stands, imported trees, and wreaths are also available for sale in this area. New trees are planted yearly, so I'm sure they'll be in business for many years to come. And, goodness, I dearly hope they'll stay for many generations, because this farm truly is the best start to our holiday season every year. Absolutely beautiful. Truly Hallmark Movie-esque in the scenery. It's quiet, peaceful, and truly, just, magical. That's the best word for this little farm. Magical. Please bring your kids and find your perfect tree. Its red and white sign stood out on a simple beige building nestled under massive power lines. We entered the bright store and took a look around. In addition to the usual DVDs, toys, and lingerie, there was a theater, two preview rooms, and a video arcade with eight private and semi private booths at the back of the store. There were other customers in the store, but we didn't know whether anyone was in back by the booths or in the theater. We decided to take a look. Admission to the theater was $9 for RG and free for me. RG went back to the front to pay and the clerk buzzed us in. The theater was empty, but I was surprised by how large it seemed in comparison to some others we had visited. The room was a long rectangle, maybe twice as long as wide. The flat-screen TV was mounted on one of the long sides, making the theater wider than it was deep. Although the room was plain, the seats were relatively fancy -- three rows of real, upholstered theater seats with built-in cup holders, 25 seats in all. (Yes, RG actually counted.) Since we were alone, we decided to sneak a few pictures before moving on to the booths.
