My inner artist loves Frenchs Forest Fruit World, if only for all the colours that it sees there. Especially in the warmer months, the shelves are awash with red strawberries, yellow mangoes, pink grapefruits, blue blueberries and green avocados. It's all very aesthetically pleasing.
The pleasure extends here - all the fruit is extremely firm, fresh and tasty. You know that vaguely rotten smell some fruit shops tend to get towards the end of the day? None of that here! The range is always seasonal, which I approve of - not only does it reflect a consistent use of local produce, it also shows that there are no excessive food miles on your fruit. Very important! The prices are very reasonable (again, probably a reflection of the focus on local produce); while sometimes a little bit dearer than what you'd pay at Woolworths or Coles, the quality of the fruit and supporting local businesses seem worth the extra 30 cents per kilogram to me. read more
