The French are world renowned for their style, so it is only natural that the boutique French school in Paddington is beautiful enough to inspire you to sign up. The woven baskets and flowers are enough to attract the eye and behind the timber French doors is a communal table where 'l'érudition commence'. The school is run by Martine, a native French speaker with over 18 years teaching experience. I elected to take a Foundation 1 class which runs for 10 weeks on Tuesday evenings for an hour and a half (630-800PM). The class is much less rigid than I expected it to be - you're encouraged not to make notes or memorize. You're very much focused on the teacher and their explanation of French conversation. I came away from this course with much more than a laundry list of names for food, animals and colours. I came away with a real confidence and much better understanding of French conversation than I had anticipated.
