We rolled into this campground on November 3rd 2017. camped right on the water and it was beautiful. We did not have any problem with the bathrooms. The campground was not full. The water from the spicket was delicious it did not smell like rotten eggs. I didn't mind the trains. We will be back.

having fire rings 12" from each other is unacceptable.

The potential of this place is great. The location cannot be beat. Hearing the river all night is the most peaceful sound. However, the place is very shabby. Sites are extremely small, which was not a problem for us as we were only there for a weekend so we had no need to 'spread out'. There was a mistake with our reservation (not sure whose fault it was but it doesn't matter) and we had to move down a couple sites after the first night. It was actually a blessing. Our first site had a campfire ring about 12 inches from the fire pit for the site nest to ours. Very disappointing. We're friendly people but are not interested in sitting around 'communal fire pits'. I posted a picture of how close the fire pits were together. There are also several trailers that we thought were just sitting there, wasting away. Apparently, however, people live in them. They have obviously not moved in several years. It just made the whole setup seem....weird. Overall, a nice relaxing place for a weekend but would not recommend for a longer stay. Bathrooms were a little rough, but we saw them cleaned daily. Only 1 shower in each bathroom.

It should be a crime that the government wants to privatize all national parks and it's a shame that we may not be able to enjoy this stunning area of the United States much longer. Take the long way during your roadtrip and drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway with the windows down, you will not be disappointed! The fresh air and calming scenery is healing to the soul! There are plenty of overlooks, as well. Take your time, enjoy the ride!

The open stretch was in higher elevations (hence not impacted by the hurricane) which meant we had some really spectacular views of the mountains and terrain. It really was wonderful. There are a ton of scenic overlooks and a few maintained spots where you can pull over and enjoy a picnic or use the facilities (they're barebones restrooms but they have them) but aside from that amenities are few and far between so be sure to pack some food, drinks, and make sure your tank is full of gas so you can enjoy the views and explore stress free! The only trouble was there wasn't a lot of information available on what we'd find on the parkway (meaning what stretch was closed, what was open, must see overlooks, hiking trails, etc) as the visitors centers were closed and the Smoky Mountain NP visitor center we stopped into didn't have any brochures or maps or anything. Luckily once we got onto the parkway we were able to find a scenic overview with some signage that had a map so we took a picture of that and was helpful. The good news is is that I believe right after our trip they reopened another large stretch of the Parkway northeast for Asheville (which I believe has has all the amazing waterfalls) so we'll have to come back another time to enjoy all those views!

The beds were comfy the tent was cute inside and everything was clean including the public bathhouse. I however did not use the porta potty because I don't use those but I'm sure it was clean. We came in the winter time and if your issue with camping is bugs then i suggest this is the time to go if you can bare the cold! Did not see a single insect which helped because I cannot do spiders Lol! Ended the long day coming back from snowboarding by easing down in the hot tub while watching the stars. Honestly stayed warm for 20 minutes after getting out of tub. Couldn't figure out how to use heat/ac unit so we used our own space heater we brought but theres a page in the binder about how to use it that I wish we saw. (our fault) Either way the blankets kept us plenty warm and the sun in the morning warmed us up too. Fun experience overall and did not dissapoint. Saw somewhere in a review I think about frozen pipes and prepared for that and I think they were frozen because no water came out of sink or shower. That was no problem for us though because we brought plenty of water bottles. Still recommend regardless because you don't get a shower camping usually anyways.

I am not sure if other people were there- it was suuuper quiet. If you go here make sure to take a short drive up to hot springs resort and enjoy the natural hot springs (you are welcome lol one of my fav activities) Also- Ashville botanical gardens were free and a fun adventure for both kids and adults

The grass was a bit high around our pad. It took me quite a while to find the tank hookup because it was covered in the grass. We didn't have the hookup until the next day because we couldn't find the connection. They had a bath house at the end of the lot and gave the code by email but I could never get the password for the WiFi. There was tubing available at the end of the lot. Sky tubing was the name. It is $15 a person and you have to sign up online they their Facebook page. They said they are open 3 days a week thru the end of August (Friday thru Sunday). There free is river access if you bring your own tube, ‍ surfboard or kayak/canoe. I couldn't find any office in sight to ask any questions. Plus our spot was backed up to the highway, which wasn't a problem but there was no shade at all. It got very hot during the day. Across the street was better though , but when we came there wasn't any other space available. If you want to come here make sure you reserve online because it's usually full if you don't have a reservation. I myself would of liked it better if it would have been a little more room
