I brought my son for a nature tots…read more Upon arrival we were greeted by Angie, the facilitator who was incredible . The children are encouraged to have complete autonomy in choosing how they would like to explore the spaces. Angie was very attentive, always making sure the stations were refilled and mindful with all of the different play areas that she set up for the space. It's a very cute space and a great introduction to start thinking if perhaps you'd like to send your child to Coco Plum nature school for schooling someday . I gave it a four stars because it is smaller and slightly less time as some of the other facilities offered in the area which are priced at the same amount. And the mud kitchen was too high for the children to use no stepstool provided for them to reach. Tables for the crafts were also regular sized, which could work for older children, but smaller table sets with seats for children could potentially be better. However, it makes sense why they don't have these things as the school starts at kindergarten and the nature taught is a once a month occurrence. Overall, it was a fun morning and we will still return.

Enrolling my son in Kindergarten at Cocoplum has been a fantastic decision. He's genuinely excited…read moreabout learning and continues to amaze me with his grasp of sciences and math. This is a stark contrast to his previous experience in a VPK program, which closely followed the traditional Florida public school system and left him dreading school. At Cocoplum, the kids enjoy 1-2 weekly trips, have daily al fresco lunches, and participate in interactive games and peer-to-peer learning for math, sciences, and reading. This unique approach has fostered my son's independence, thoughtfulness, and confidence. He's not only curious but also eager to share what he's learned. I also want to highlight the incredible leadership at the school, which is founded and run by two remarkable women. Melanie, the executive director, exudes a pleasant demeanor and brings a calming energy that the kids adore. Fernanda, the other founder, focuses on the curriculum, taking the time to genuinely listen to the children and connect with them on their level. Her approach encourages various forms of creative play and learning; she's like the Latina Miss. Frizzle! Being Mexican, Fernanda also incorporates a significant amount of Spanish in the classrooms, which is important to me since I speak Spanish at home. The teachers are wonderful and trained in the Conscious Discipline method. In teaching, they are observant and facilitate learning by tapping into each child's curiosity. An example from the other day: In Kindergarten, the kids were read a funny book. They were so excited by it that they took it upon themselves to rewrite the words and phrases from the book. When I was a kid, we were forced to write out sentences from books, but in my son's class, the kids WANT TO :) ! A few times a week, the teachers share anecdotes and photos on an app, which are linked to various learning objectives. While the school is play-based and creative, they do assess levels of competence across various subjects on a quarterly basis. This is something only the parents see and not the students, unlike traditional schools where kids are shown their report cards. It brings me great comfort knowing that my child is in incredibly capable hands and surrounded by kind and caring children and adults, eliminating the need for me to constantly hover over him. Truly, it's a fantastic school. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the small class sizes, which is a huge plus!

Kentwood has been a lifesaver & constant source of support for my family over the past 6&1/2 years…read more My child started there in 5th grade & is now in 11th. We placed S there after trying for 2+ years to get S help thru the public school system. We adopted S after S was placed in foster care at 9 mos old. S endured heavy drug use by S's bio mom while pregnant & lack of care the first 9 mos of life. S has severe ADHD, ODD, & is on the spectrum (very high functioning) with severe short term memory deficits & math LD. Behavior due to severe frustration over inability to grasp things was getting worse & worse despite twice weekly counseling at school & in our home, tutoring & a begrudgingly granted 504 Plan that did nothing for S. When S started in 5th grade, S was extremely defiant & wouldn't work or follow the rules. S was turning our home into a war zone w/constant tantrums & fighting. Kentwood uses a VERY strict behavioral intervention chart (BIC) that they mark every 1/2 hour or hour for every student. If the kids are acting out so much that it disturbs the other students, they are moved to a special skills lab w/staff trained to work with these situations so they can return to the classroom. The teachers are just AMAZING & incredibly calm & well trained. They communicate with parents regularly & fully -- both good & bad. So nice to get emails or texts telling me of something helpful or smart my kid did vs. always getting those terrible calls about a problem. S is very verbal & social & likes to read. Comprehension is not great, but there's a lot of effort & interest. Math is a whole other story -- ugly, bad, tantrum causing. Instead of pushing S forward into areas S would never understand, they work w/S to get S fully understanding the areas missed & then move forward at S's own pace & ability. I've had to adjust my expectations & realize/accept that S will never fully get some of the math areas or be very academic. And that's OK. The staff has worked extensively w/S & classmates on social skills, life skills like budgeting & saving & price checking, etc. They talk a lot about learning to watch for others' reactions & social cues & they practice it. Conflict resolution too. How to handle frustrations & advocate for yourself. I'm amazed at how much S has grown emotionally over the years. S has been nurtured by so many different teachers & staff over the years & thru multiple grades. They have been there for me to turn to re: behavioral issues at home & always offer good ideas & practical, hands-on help at school so we're working in tandem to help S. S LOVES S's teachers, & has made incredibly good friends there as well. The classes are very small & personalized to what the individual kids need. The small environment, mask wearing, cleaning & distancing has made me comfortable allowing S to go back to school in person. I highly recommend this school if your child has a special academic/behavioral needs that just can't/won't be met in the public school setting.

After starting her onboarding and getting her keys, id, computer, etc., they fired her 10 days later telling her that she flunked her drug test with a THC content of 15 ng/ml, less than the minimum federal standard of 50 ng/ml. The funny thing is the lab had called her a week before she started working and the lab said they would send the results to the school that day. She called the school the following day and they said everything was okay. The weird thing is she attended a diversity training seminar the day before she was fired and stated her modestly liberal opinion. When HR called her the next day, they said it was the failed drug test that got her fired. Why did they hold on to the drug test so long, and why did they onboard her? They told her to reapply and she would be given a chance to take a drug test, but that was a lie, and they have hired someone else. Talking to attornies now as I am left holding the bad on her expenses.

All students are selected by lottery after their parents submit them through the CHOICE application, which is due in January of the year before. A unique thing about this school is that it is 1 of 2 public elementary schools in the entire County that accepts 3 year olds into a full-time day program. This is 1 year before VPK, and instead of a half-day program (like VPK), this is a full-day, from 8am-2pm. This is kind of incredible, as we were able to put our 3 year old into school rather than daycare, which is much preferable, as well as cost-saving. However, in order to take advantage of this, you have to submit an application while your child is 2 years old, and most parents are not thinking about applying to the school board website after being a parent for only a couple of years. 3 year olds are put in a mixed classroom of a small group of 3, 4, and 5 year old children, with a lead teacher and an assistant, in a classroom that has Montessori elements to it. All teachers here have received additional schooling in Montessori education, and many have been teaching at the school for decades (as well as having sent their own children to this school). This speaks volumes about the institution itself. We have experienced wonderful care from the teachers here. Spady's official website, like most PBC public school's sites, is confusing and lacks basic information. I knew very little about this school before applying to the program, due to the overwhelming and convoluted system that the School board administers, which is way behind the times. I would love to see a modern website with basic information about the school displayed. If you're reading this, I encourage you to write a review for your children's school, so that parent voices and experiences can shine and help fill in current gaps in information and content.

It's very unfortunate that my daughter had to be the one who was hurt at only 9 months by the cartake named Wanda. My daughter had 7 sctraches all over her body. They were caused by Wanda with either her nails or jewelry. Which was inappropriate to have jewelry... wearing rings on all fingers when caring for the infant class. So unprofessional. The scratches were from her face to her arms to her pelvic to her legs. I saw only the one on her arm from the daily pictures in the tadpole app. When I called to ask Wanda consciously lied saying she came like that. That was so alarming because as any parent or caretaker or human being can imagine that any scratch will hurt and will cause a baby to cry. This is a disgraceful person. It was obvious NO GLOVES were used!!! And she did not report it. It was reported to the director and an occurrence report was done what I was further disappointed was that the next day before dropping my daughter off I wanted to make sure that Wanda was not there and she was. She should have been suspended until the true story was told. I did not drop her off. I took off and lost a days pay. I want to also point out. That day the meal report was wrong as well. items that i didn't provide my daughter were listed. God forbid she was allergic. I immediately withdrew my daughter from here. She was taken to the doctor to get it documented and the doctor was very surprised about this. My daughter is well but I don't trust daycare places any longer. I don't know what the status of her is. I am hoping she is expelled. The fact that she LIED is enough to know that this is a person that is not mentally stable. She is an abuser because she hurt my baby and lied. Pictures are attached. Others are on her face but I will not disclose.

Two different schools in the Palm Beach County Public School System fought with us when we wanted to leave him back and it was clear that he was seen as a lost cause that would just be passed along from grade to grade unless we changed schools. 5 years later the progress my son had made at Providence was truly remarkable. Obviously, they taught him how to read but also the skills necessary to learn, both in the class and at home. Socially, he became a gregarious confident young man who sought to help his fellow students. For him, in the middle of 7th grade, we decided it was time to try public school again because of what Providence had done for him. We could have not envisioned a better result. He has moved into advance classes in all his core subjects but for English and Math, and the only reason he has not advanced in Math is because he did not start public middle school until 7th grade. His teachers look to him to assist other students, a task he truly enjoys. Socially, he has also thrived, easily making friends and bullying no longer an issue. Thank you, Providence, for this amazing result. If you are considering Providence, do not hesitate. It is truly a remarkable place.
