I was sad to see the bad reviews and wanted to post my recent experience. I know the concierge model isn't ideal for everyone but we like it and I love Dr. Farrell. She's great. Wonderful. I love the additional access and follow through that the new model affords (even though I understand why some patients were upset by the model change.) The routine primary care offices are fine if you have one physical a year and are never sick...but if you prefer more care and handling I strongly suggest a concierge model if possible. Used to be a pretty good office. Never had any real issues in scheduling and during visits. Did the job. However, the practice is now moving to a "fancy concierge model" and will be charging a whopping $1950 per patient per year just to have access to the practice! Looking at what you are paying for you will notice that most points are services ou should expect from any PCP (and that they actually provided before charging an annual fee). I guess it shows where their priorities lie, they care about your health if you can afford $2000 a year AND your insurance's copays. Guess their lower-income (and/or reasonable) patients can go find somewhere else to get care. Not a fan of subscription-based health care, I'll be looking for another practice. read more

They incorrectly billed me $593 for a routine physical and after many obstacles to get to billing, they changed the category from the 2 issues they originally incorrectly billed me for, to a "New Patient" visit category which left me with the exact same outrageous bill, and after months of gatekeepers preventing me from talking to Dr. Frekko, when I explained to her the injustice, she discounted a mere $25 off!! They are not worth the aggregation but being complacent and giving in, will only allow them to continue this fraudulent abuse. read more

Family owned business. I've been coming here for the past ten years or so, give or take a few years. I've seen each of the four Doctor's here. It isn't fun to make an appointment when your sick and dying, so even when they say they are booked, I take my chances and walk in and they have taken me; most doctors won't even do that but hey, when you have the flu or pneumonia or whatever deathly sickness, it matters. Even with four doctors, they are crazy busy; I don't think I've ever walked in here when it isn't. They've moved locations for more space and def makes it feel much less crazy. I don't think they are accepting new patients right now, but I love going to Dr. Raffo in particular. They are busy, but they don't treat you like a dollar sign and they have always made me feel like family. Would def recommend the doc's here! read more

My husband has gone to Frekko Primary Care for about 30 years. I've been going to them for about four years. We can't say enough good things about Dr. Frekko's daughters, who now run the practice. We were skeptical when they went concierge, but it has made it possible to have a manageable number of patients. They spend at least an hour with us, answer our questions, post our labs on the patient portal. Getting an appointment is easy, and there is no annoying wait on the phone They even give patients their personal cell numbers for after hour emergencies. Recently, we were having trouble getting test results with a specialist and our doctors followed through, and kept on the specialist until we got what we needed. They care about patients and advocate for us. read more

The service used to be ok. Now, the place probably has too many clients and too few receptionists such that the clients are suffered (long wait time 15 minutes to hours). The place is too busy such that a referral, for my case took more than two weeks to reach the specialist. I am thinking to switch to a different doctor that is not too busy. read more

I was a patient for nearly 10 years but I'm sick and tired of the extreme long wait times only to be seen by the doctor for a total of 10 mins. I'm not understanding why I have to wait 90mins for a physical. These people are so money hungry that they won't just take less patients. They also are always referring you to Frekko's son in law who is also a doctor. So he won't even look at what is wrong with you. He will instantly refer you to one of his sons which is ridiculous because why am I wasting my time with you people then? I really am over them. Don't go here. Save yourself time. I don't have time to be waiting around I am a full time mba student and have things to do. They disregard your whole life and it's disgusting and disrespectful. After waiting for over an hour I decided to leave. After explaining to them why I was leaving the women at the front desk looked at me without any type of care and remorse and told me they were backed up and I could go ahead and leave. According to CareFirst Blue Cross, Frekko Primary Care is accepting new patients. According to Frekko Primary Care's website, they are accepting new patients. After spending half an hour signing up as a new patient through their website, I called for an appointment. Turns out, they are not accepting new patients. I notified them that the CareFirst portal states otherwise. The response was, "Wait, which Blue Cross are you calling from?" While I suspect that they would have changed their story once finding out about my insurance plan, I did not have the heart to stay on. I am not a fan of economic discrimination. Inconvenient, rude, and unprofessional. read more

Just to supplement Mary O's review. I also wasn't told that the office had moved when I made my appointment. In addition the office is now located in an office park where there are many other buildings surrounding it and the office entrance is also located at the rear of the building. Needless to say it was a little difficult to find. When I arrived for my appointment there was only a note posted on the door stated that the office had relocated. Consequently, I had some trouble finding the office and was 20 mins late. One of the lady asked "Do you know you are 20 minutes late?" (of course I did, because it took me 20 mins to find it) ...anyhow, I apologized and told her that I had trouble finding the office and I didn't know that they had relocated beforehand. (I've been going there for 3+ years and was never late.) But instead of being understanding she didn't really care and proceed to tell me that "doctor won't be able to see me now." ...but there was another person there that was kind enough to check with Dr. M. Frekko and thankfully she was able to see me. I work in the healthcare profession and I understand that it could be very stressful at times. But there is no reason for you to treat patient or anybody in general with rudeness and attitude. read more

I was a patient there for year, but after I was in a car accident, I had to do a few follow up appointments after the hospital released me. He handled me like a piece of meat and never, ever let me finish speaking about my problems like neck pain and such, cause he couldn't figure out the computers. After he rushed through the visit I had to actually tell him "But I have more issues we need to talk about" he got pissed and started yanking and pulling on me to the point it cause enough pain that I had to tell him " I DO NOT WANT TO BE SEEN BY YOU! PLEASE GET ONE OF THE OTHER DOCTORS." BTW you cannot request to not see him at the practice they don't give you the option to be seen by the doctor on your card, its whoever they want to put you with. Horrible practice, I left them for a much better practice with multiple locations and have had no issues since. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

I have been a patient for over 25 years. I started with Dr. Frekko and have been to each of his daughters who have joined the practice. I have nothing but the highest praise for all of them and the nurses as well !! Someway, somehow, trying to get refills is like pulling teeth from them, even though one has an appointment 3 weeks away from today's date. Not sure who or what is the problem but they have a nurse practitioner that made me change an appointment to fit her schedule before which I lost time from work to go to on a previous request for refills. Guess not taking ones medicine is what they want. Thinking about moving to another group as it is becoming obvious that someone there isn't patient friendly. Other than that, the Doctors (esp. I love this practice absolutely I love the patients and the staff everyone is amazing . What I don't like though is the care for the patients. There always rescheduling patients , patients have to wait long times, and everything down to the office manager is just out of place . The Frekko's Including Mr and Mrs Frekko are very sweet people they just have to see that the poor management is really why nobody stays there or want to work for them . If I could give zero stars I would. Years ago, I was given the wrong vaccination by one of their staff members. I was younger and so I didn't know how potentially dangerous this was and how bad of a mistake it really was. But recently, I was given another vaccination and the person behind the desk was really pushing me to get another appointment soon for a shot that I had just gotten that day. If I had not refused and asked for clarification, I would have gotten a double-dose of a vaccination, THAT IS NOT OK! I'm not sure if it's a lazy job by the people behind the desk taking records, the nurses being lazy, or their lack of good training. It might be a lack of good communication between staff members but they definitely don't communicate well with me the patient. The doctors could be nice I'm sure, but the nurses and people who run behind the desk never seem to know how to do their job. I've had basically the same problem years apart, which shows me they haven't done much to fix issues that could potentially be very serious. I doubt I will ever step foot in that place again, unless it is to inform the owners or head doctors or whomever is in charge of the staff about the ineptitude and lack of doing a good job the people who work there have displayed to me. I really hope I'm the only person who has experienced this kind of thing here. If I had children, I would not trust these people to give them vaccinations, and I will never get any service from here again except maybe a simple check-up or something that is impossible to mess up. From my experience, this is the last place I can trust to give anyone a vaccination. I would have gotten another wrong vaccination, meaning there is the same problem here years apart that hasn't gotten fixed. I hope this review will warn everyone of the risk you run if you decide to go to this place, you might get something you didn't ask for. I hope this helps. read more

My issue is with the billing rates. I was seen for the first Time by a nurse who asked mute a few questions and renewed my percription. The whole visit was very short and I ended up not seeing a doctor. For the 15 mins I was charged a whopping $ 350. When I complained I Was told I was billed based on the issues I had. Keep in mind I was seen by a nurse, no doctor. All she did was write a persciption for existing meds. When I told my Sister-in-law who is a nurse about the bill she was encourage me to challenge it as a possible coding error, it was not. REDICULIOUS! Zero out of five! read more

I love my doctor, Dr. Mary Frekko. She is gentle and caring and always takes time for all my questions. The rest of the staff is the problem- the front desk is rude, cold and plain unkind. They didn't even tell me the office moved when I made an appointment then acted like it was my problem I didn't know. They never smile, or act like they even care (and in the medical field that is super important!) - they always act like you are a bother. I keep going because I love my doctor but be forewarned to brace yourself for the rest of the staff. read more

I have had both good an bad experiences at this office. I have seen two of the three female doctors who are on staff there and they are kind, care, and seem to take a general interest in your health and well being. The staff however... terrible, rude, and make you feel just plain uncomfortable. Especially the German and Indian women who run front desk. Just awful. I think they would provide much better service if they had a friendly staff. I haven't even made it to the office. I called in early February to get an appointment as a new patient and was informed it would take a month and that someone would call me to set it up. They didn't return a call, so I called again in early March. (They told me to call if I didn't hear from anyone by March.) Finally, they made an appointment for me on March 25th. I am a teacher, so I reserved a substitute, wrote lesson plans and prepared to be off that day. Then I got a call today and they cancelled the appointment for an "emergency." I have been a patient for over 10 year and every time I am sick, I end up going to Urgent Care because they can't see people same day and sometimes you have to wait for a week for a sick appointment. I thought things were getting better once they became a part of Privia but they clearly still have problems managing patient load. The Frekko practice has been our primary care provider for at least 6 years and I have gone to them about twice a year on the average. I have always been treated with the utmost respect by both the staff but especially the doctors. I have been examined and cared by all four of the doctors at various times and always come away pleased with their attentiveness and skill. I recently heard a comment from another patient that it may be time for the senior to retire but after my first year there I was passed on to the sisters and cannot confirm that opinion. The new facility is an improvement over their previous office but it has always been what is inside that counts with me. I think I can comment on the front desk from a perspective of having worked with customers who can be difficult to deal with. I cracked the ice by recognizing them for who they can be, and now they are. I hear a friendly voice when I call and see a pleased look when I walk in the door. read more

The doctors and PA are very friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, they take time to listen and offer advice. I like them. I have absolutely no complaints with them. The office staff is fine, not the most friendly and very busy but certainly have seen much worse. I don't feel they go out of their way to help you but that could be what they'e been instructed to do. I really only have 1 complaint with this practice (and it's the same as everyone I know who used to go to them) and it's that you can NEVER get in if you're sick or having an issue (hence why friends have left the practice). I've called several times over the years when sick and just today when I'm having an issue and each time I'm told there are no openings, they can see me in a week or two and if I can't wait I should go to the Urgent Care. WTH - isn't that the point of having a personal doctor??? I have learned to not bother calling when I'm sick and just go to Urgent Care but I would have thought today when I called they would have worked me in considering the nature of my call (I'm ill b/c my meds not working correctly); I probably shouldn't wait another week to be seen. Going to the Urgent Care isn't who I need to see in this case since they don't know my history. Bottom line: If you're looking for a Dr to do your physicals and help maintain your health then this practice is perfect (I make my appt a yr in advance) - I would highly recommend them. But... if you're looking for a Dr who will see you when you are sick or have an immediate problem this is NOT the practice for you! read more

I can believe in this day and age I cant get a call for the dr. I had a question about my daughters visit. I called talked to the nurse and she said she would tell the dr. She calls me back the next day and explained what the dr. had told her and she could not answer my question. I was flustered and didn't understand the situation so I asked her to please have the dr. call me. I get a call 15 min later from the NURSE telling me the dr. would talk to my daughter on ther next visit. WTF. Are you kidding me!!! I have been going to this dr. for 10 years now along with most of my family and this is the courtesy I get! I am so disappointed I cant get a simple 5 min call from the dr. My VET has more common courtesy and is just as busy to take 2 min. to talk to me to easy my concerns! Im done. Now I know why they are taking on new patients the old ones are leaving!. I've gone to Frekko Primary Care for years using United Healthcare, Aetna and BC/BS Carefirst and would have given them a 4 stars but recently I lost my job and am now on Medicaid - MCO Healthchoice. I was very surprised to find out that Frekko PCP does not accept ANY Medicaid plans! I hope that Dr. Raffo and Dr. Kilavos especially read this because this says something about the elitist attitude of practices that will only accept health plans that they can bill for large amounts and not actually care about women's health. I will have to say that I agree with the previous posts. I am not switching Primary Care Providers because I do like the Providers. As far as the front desk staff goes, I am the front desk staff, phone person, bringer backer, etc, for the Pediatrician's office at which I work...and, I will state, on record, the front desk staff at Dr. Frekko's office is seriously lacking in intra-personal skills, charm, warmth, etc. I go to their office every three months and none of the front desk staff acts as if they know me...In my office, we greet people by their names as they walk in as we know our patients....Makes a huge world of difference! Dr. Frekko,senior, if you read these posts, this is something that you need to correct, my co-worker has switched primary care providers because of your front desk staff... read more

This is a great office if you need to declare a primary care physician for your insurance. If you actually need to GO to a doctor, you should continue looking. To echo other's sentiments here, Dr. Mary Frekko is a terrific doctor. The staff is just lousy, disorganized, and insensitive. read more

A generally well run practice; expect to wait about an hour, in any event, before seeing a doctor. Most of the doctors are very approachable and good listeners, but tend to be relatively young (mid-late 30's), so still building experience. read more
