You can get a nice walk in with the looping combo of paved trail and boardwalk/bridges. There are a few shelters and trees around to help with the sun a bit. On the far end is a playground, with a very nice large shelterhouse with picnic tables. The playground is a lot of wood, metal, and climbing nets, and has sections for ages 2-5 and 5-12. By far the biggest draw appeared to be the very tall, fast slide, accessible via climbing net. There are benches available, and play shades available in one section. A nice sized parking lot is available too.

Huge space to roam, hike, see natural habitats and also let the kiddos climb, slide and swing, etc. -- I did not see restrooms. But didn't get to see all the trails. The paths are mostly gravel and natural elements with a touch of modern engineering here and there. Covered shelter picnic area available. (See pics) Cannot see park from the parking lot. So littles with necessary diaper changes and meltdowns may pose a difficult space to take a break in the car. Parking is a trek from the actual playground. Plan accordingly.

Just north of here there is a low-head dam currently situated on the Creek. so we needed to avoid that structure, and selected this park as a starting point. there is a nice boat ramp, and although there have been quite a bit of rain the water level had receded overnight, so we had to walk the boats out to the center of the creek. After a little scooting around we were on our way. This is a great launching point, and it made for a great float of about 1-1/2 to 2 hours into downtown Gahanna. Our kayak takeout was Friendship Park, just south of the Creekside area, but you can read all about that and another one of my reviews.

We got all that here, and so much more. There is a fair-sized playground with several slides, climbing areas, swings, etc. And: an obstacle course with logs, tunnels, little houses to play in, and more. Wow. Plus it's a great park otherwise: shade, plus green space, a shelter with bathrooms, tables, a rain garden, places to fish by a big pond, paths, basketball courts and playing fields, and more. Beautifully laid out, full of fun, we will definitely be back.

I used to go to this park in the summer, over the years because they hosted a summer concert series in the amphitheater that included one group that I enjoyed more than others (anyone know if Paradise Island is still performing?). Outside of that, we never spent much time there. Yesterday, we decided to check out areas to relax and decided to give Sycamore Creek Park a look since we really hadn't seen the park itself. It's fairly decent, with a walking trail and a few picnic areas, in case you want to take family and friends for a cookout. It even has a section you can reserve. There's also a tennis and basketball court, if you're feeling active. I took interest in the pond area, in which several people were fishing. I walked over to the south side of it and found a nice vantage point or photos. However, if I wanted to take advantage of the sunset, there was a huge rock that I could pose my subjects on. I didn't walk around, but I may do it later to see if there is anything else of interest. I did add two photos so you can see what I'm taking about, regarding the pond. I understand that they have a sledding hill in the winter time. Something you might want to consider for the kids (and adults). Worth checking out.
