Well i was scheduled for a procedure on december 28 2023. When i received the instructions the prep seemed labrious. I had a colonscopy 10 years ago used moviprep no problem. Something came up and i walked into the office 2 weeks before my procedure. I work for a shipping company and walked in wearing my uniform. The front desk person was very unehlpful and seemed to be put out. I told her im canceling my appointment. She asked why. I said family business. I handed her my paperwork she asked my name etc. It was all on the paperwork i gave her. She said i had a long day. I said so did i. She rolled her eyes and sighed. I told her i would be available in march. I have not heard from anyone since. I will never go back. They don't care about patients. Amazing care! Front office staff, pre screening was wonderful, very communicative. My colonoscopy was scheduled for afternoon but moved to morning due to cancellation. A blessing.. snow emergency the day of my appointment but they make every effort to be open since patients going through the prep. Everyone was great during my procedure, can't say enough about Dr Kamal, wonderful bedside manner, made me feel very comfortable and she was very professional. Thanks to Dr. Kamal, I am FINALLY experiencing relief. I have had painful problems with digestion since I was a child. My problems marred every vacation or special event. I had tried everything, but the problems only worsened with time. After seeing so many gastroenterologists, I became concerned that I would never feel better and that my doctors would eventually write off my problems as a chronic condition that was not worth exploring. Thankfully, I was referred to Dr. Kamal. I drove two hours round-trip to get to her office because of her impressive education and experience. At my appointment, she was patient as I explained my various conditions and unusual symptoms. After listening to me, she thoroughly inquired into my medical history. Dr. Kamal recommended a plan of care, and after a few weeks, I was finally, finally starting to feel better. On top of everything else, Dr. Kamal also identified a potentially serious issue that I believe other doctors have missed. Without her, I don't know what would have happened. I am in utter disbelief at how terribly rudely I was treated after waiting 6 weeks for an appointment with FGA. Frustrated and angry were the only results I got seeing Carolyn Hedin (CRNP-A). I cannot recall another time in my 65 years on this planet of being treated so rudely by a "professional." She provided me with NO useful information to help with my issues, instead all she did was fire off questions and type into a computer screen. And if I did not answer the questions in the exact manner she wanted, she sighed, closed her eyes in apparent annoyance, or snapped at me. Seriously??? What "professional" treats an ailing person this way? I don't know about other associates in this practice, but if they allow this woman to work there, then they certainly cannot be recommended. Stay away from this practice, especially from Nurse Practitioner Carolyn Hedin (CRNP). read more

I have had a multitude of severe symptoms and surgeries over the years. FGA never found anything 'wrong' with me. I chose to go to a different gastroenterologist recently, hoping I could get a second opinion. I received a letter in the mail from FGA. "It is our understanding that you wish to transfer your care to another gastroenterologist. We are sorry we cannot meet your expectations. We will be available to you for gastrointestinal emergencies for the next thirty (30) days as you transition your care. Thereafter, our practice will no longer be involved in your care and we will not be able to participate in your care in the future". I find this to be rude, unethical behavior from a health care specialist. I have the right to seek a second opinion. They have made it clear that this is unacceptable to them, and will refuse me care in the future? I suggest that you skip them entirely and look somewhere else for your gastroenterology needs. read more

I made an appointment for 9:00AM on 1/26. I received a call at 8:15AM that morning that they needed to cancel. I rescheduled for 9:15 on 2/2. They asked that I arrive 15 min. early. I arrived at 9:00AM. I left at 10:00 when they couldn't tell me when I could be seen. Very unprofessional. I understand that things happen but they need to communicate better if/when they have delays. I won't use the Urbana office again. read more

I just had a terrible time dealing with Frederick Gastroenterology Associate's scheduling people. I was cancelled twice for an appointment and then when I didn't re-schedule (why would I when this had dragged on for a month), the practice billed me $50 as a "missed appointment". I never "missed" an appointment, the schedulers cancelled me twice, and then someone had the nerve to charge me! Thankfully, the Billing Office removed the charge, but this should NEVER have happened. I have had care from this practice for over 20 years, and I have never encountered this issue. I really did like the Doc I was seeing. I noticed in Yelp comments on this practice that there were quite a few negative comments from people (some of whom had been with the practice for years) with similar issues. Sadly, Frederick Gastroenterology Associates has lost my business. It does me no good to be involved with a practice when 1) I can't get care in a timely fashion because of repeated cancellations on the provider's part, and 2) that tried to charge me for something I never did. I think there is a big problem somewhere in the management of Frederick Gastroenterology Associates (Frederick Office) and it needs to be addressed. read more

I am not sure how to rate this. It's both a 1 * and a 4*. Let me explain: I made and was given an appt to see Dr. Bahtia. Two month wait. When I called to ask a question I was informed that I was not seeing the Dr. but the nurse practitioner. Ok. At this appt I inquired as to how they identify stomach cancer, as I have three people in my family who died from it, and was told through and endoscopy. All went well. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. When I thought about it, I spoke again with the nurse practitioner and requested an endoscopy. "Oh, lets get the colonoscopy done and then will see" was the answer. No, I insisted I was not going to go under anesthesia twice. After getting the approval from the Dr. the endoscopy was scheduled. All went well with the procedures, Dr. Husain and staff at the Conley building were wonderful. Endoscopy results ultimately indicated the bacterial infection H Pyloris - the leading cause of stomach cancer. Dr. Husain threated me with an aggressive dose of antibiotics, returned my call and explained things. Although I was not given a follow up appt. I will call for that. Why always the Urban Office? Do the Dr's still take patients in Frederick? Fantastic Doctor's but you can't get an appointment. So no matter how good the are if you can't get an appointment how good are the to you? Are there that many patients in Urbana to justify the office without the patients coming from Frederick? To have to wait a month for an appointment in Frederick tells you something. I've been a patient for over 10 years. This office has literally saved my life! I'm a patient of Dr Liss and he is phenomenal. I'm an Ulcerative Colitis patient and have been through more treatment plans and medication combinations than I can count. My favorite thing about Dr Liss is his willingness to take risks and try new treatments, whereas other doctors would just recommend throwing in the towel and chopping out my guts. I truly appreciate that before recommending a more intense treatment plan, Liss sends me to Hopkins for a second opinion - just to be sure he isn't recommending anything outlandish. Between Liss and Dr Lazerav at Hopkins - I'm well on my way to remission for the first time in nearly THREE years. At one point, I did land in the hospital for a week and was able to meet other doctors from the practice. Dr Hunt was also pretty awesome and has worked with a friend of mine with Crohn's. She's been thrilled. I also need to mention that at one point I was on Humira and suffered from panic attacks when faced with giving myself injections. The super amazing nurses worked with me to actually have me come in every other week and they would administer my injections. While the drugs didn't end up working for me, I will forever be greatful for the incredible care I received... above and beyond, to say the very least. I really do love this practice. They do care about their patients. Dr Liss and Dr Hunt both has super awesome bedside manner. Liss seems to keep up with the latest trends and information in the field, which has allowed me to (again)... save my guts... in a very literal sense. read more

I was in the FMH when one of the Doctors from Frederick Gastroenterology Associates came in to see me. The Doctor walks into my room and places a business card on the table and tells me to call her office to schedule an appointment to come see her. This was not the Doctor who treated me at the hospital and did nothing at all. She said she reviewed my chart to see what the hospitalists diagnosed me and thought I would benefit from being seen in her office. Two weeks later I get billed a consultation fee of $250!!! Is this establishment financially hurting that they have to scam patients? If I come in to their office and try to sell them Tupperware, can I than bill them for a consultation fee? read more

I never write reviews, but I'm compelled to write one because of the amazing care I always receive from Dr. Husain! I always refer anyone who is looking for a gastro on my community pages to him because he possesses every trait a terrific doctor should have. Not only is he brilliant, having been a Rhodes Scholar and earning a multitude of other distinguished educational awards, but he is kind, compassionate, caring, and witty. From the very first visit I had with him, I knew this was the type of doctor I was lucky to have found. The nurses at the practice are just just as wonderful and I have to say I've always been able to get in as soon as needed. In fact, even though Dr Husain was out on vacation and I had to book later than I wanted, I was able to get in on the day he got back due to a cancellation. I can't say enough good things about this practice and will continue to refer everyone to them and Dr. Husain specifically. read more

Front desk personnel are very friendly and helpful, if only the rest of the staff were half as good... Nurses were rude and terse at best, very unprofessional and act like you are nothing but a bother to them, nothing positive to say about them, they made the entire process extremely stressful and tense! . Doctor Yang was nice, but obviously had no clue as to the symptoms that predicated the appointment, told my son to take otc for a condition that my son never once stated he suffered from. ..would have been nice if the doctor bothered to read his file before seeing us. Left there with high anxiety and more questions than answers. Overall I do NOT recommend this facility, go elsewhere if you can. read more

As to I wish I didn't even have to click one star because this facility sure doesn't even deserve one star!!! When I first started seeking GI help I went to see Dr. Sukumar. As this woman did not give any cares to helping me, and as a matter of fact thought my mother was the patient. At my last visit with her she said oh well come back in 4 months. As I could not wait 4 months for help. I requested my records to be sent to a new GI who would better help me. I received not only a nasty letter stating that I am no longer a patient there and never will be in the future, I also received a voicemail stating the same nasty message. As I was informed yesterday at my new GI doctor that FGA felt the need to send them a copy of the letter stating that information. First off that is very very unprofessional!!! Second off that has nothing to do with my medical history so that should not be sent in my records. And third I have rights as a patient to seek other opinions if I feel the need. I would not reccomend this facility to anyone!!! If even it was the only GI facility in the world, I would rather suffer than to be treated like dirt. read more

If you are reading this, run for the hills. Never in my life have I had such a negative experience with a medical office. These people are running a circus which includes - not answering patients' e-mails and calls for days, leaving voicemails after 4:00pm (when they shut off their phones) so that you have no way to call back and talk to someone about your medical condition and next steps, no empathy for any time of agonizing pain, dumping patients via voicemail because they can't figure things out, referring you to doctors but yet never sharing any information (no address, no phone, nothing) and charging you for missed appointments AFTER they have left you a voicemail stating the doctor is no longer treating you. I was under the care of Dr. Husain and I can say that 'disappointed' does not begin to explain how I feel about the care (or lack thereof) that was provided. You are far better of scheduling an appointment elsewhere. Hopefully with a doctor that will at least return your calls within 24 hours if you are in excruciating pain and not require you to land in the ER within the five days it takes them to call you back...after 4:00pm. read more

I have been a patient at this practice sit 2007. In 2007, this practice was a good place to go. The nurses and doctors were a well oiled machine. Fast forward 9 years later, I have always received calls about a reminder for an upcoming appointment. Apparently I had an appointment on 6/24/2016 and I missed unbeknownst to me. When I called the office to reschedule, the lady who answered the phone asked me why I didn't show up for my appointment and I explained to her I did not have one. So, I rescheduled it for 7/6/2016. When Dr. Sukamar walked in and sat down she explained to me that the office was going to have me removed from their practice. However, the doctor explained that she stepped in to keep me. After all of the money and time I have given these people and for one appointment I didn't have the office( doctors, front desk etc) were going to get rid of me as a patient I was angry and walked out. DO NOT go to this practice. If you live in Frederick, go to Baltimore instead. FGA really is falling apart and I'm not saying that over what happened. Get your act together FGA. read more
