I saw Betty Feir during a very difficult period for my family. When she learned that our insurance…read morewould not cover a treatment facility, she abruptly discontinued care, leaving us without support at a critical time. After reviewing patient feedback across multiple platforms, it is clear that my experience was not an isolated incident. This experience raised serious concerns about her professionalism and judgment, and it was troubling enough that I would strongly caution others. Based on both my personal experience and publicly available reviews, I strongly encourage prospective patients to conduct thorough research before booking services.

I have observed Betty Feir for many, many years. She engages in discernable patterns. She is…read moredisproportionate hostile toward vulnerable clients. By singling out court-appointed clients for worse treatment she is targeting those individuals seen as having less recourse or power. She is (when it is to her advantage with her private patients) capable of appropriate behavior but chooses not to apply it consistently, pointing to situational control rather than inability to control her conduct. Patients experience emotional whiplash directly linked to HER poor emotional regulation or intentional dominance displays. She treats those with less perceived status more harshly, while maintaining decorum with those who can impact her reputation. Traits Associated with Narcissistic Personality Features o Sense of superiority over certain clients. o Devaluation of others to maintain self-image. o Two-faced behavior depending on audience. o Rudeness and contempt in low-risk settings. o Lack of empathy for those she sees as "less deserving." o Grandiosity: Acting superior to certain clients. o Lack of empathy: Showing disregard for the emotional well-being of court-appointed patients. o Exploitation: Using the lower status of court-appointed clients to justify disrespectful treatment. o Interpersonal manipulation: Being civil when reputational consequences exist, rude otherwise. o Disregard for rules/ethics: Making disparaging remarks about patients outside professional contexts. o Impulsivity or callousness: Shifts in demeanor without regard for the client's vulnerability. Betty Feir's conduct violates APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (2017 edition). In preparing your complaint categorized the conduct under the relevant standard as cited below: Standard 3.04 - Avoiding Harm "Psychologists take reasonable steps to avoid harming their clients/patients... and to minimize harm where it is foreseeable and unavoidable." * Being mercurial, insulting, or disparaging to court-appointed patients causes foreseeable emotional harm. * Selectively treating court-appointed patients worse than private patients shows that harm is avoidable -- she simply chooses not to avoid it in certain contexts. Standard 3.01 - Unfair Discrimination "In their work-related activities, psychologists do not engage in unfair discrimination based on... socioeconomic status..." * Court-appointed patients are often lower-income or in vulnerable legal positions. Treating them with less respect than private clients constitutes discrimination based on referral source and likely socioeconomic status. Standard 3.05 - Multiple Relationships "A multiple relationship occurs when a psychologist is in a professional role... and at the same time is in another role... that could impair objectivity, competence, or effectiveness... or risk exploitation or harm." * Socializing in the same circles as attorneys involved in cases she evaluates (e.g., at parties) risks blurring professional boundaries, especially if she makes disparaging remarks about patients in those settings. Standard 4.01 - Maintaining Confidentiality "Psychologists have a primary obligation... to protect confidential information obtained through or stored in any medium." * Making derogatory or identifying comments about patients to others outside a professional context breaches confidentiality. Even if names are omitted, enough context can reveal patient identity, especially in a small community. Standard 3.06 - Conflict of Interest "Psychologists refrain from taking on a professional role when personal, scientific, professional, legal, financial, or other interests or relationships could reasonably be expected to... limit their objectivity, competence, or effectiveness." * Her apparent disdain for court-appointed work may create a bias that undermines objectivity in evaluations, affecting legal outcomes for patients.
