Dr Leslie has unfortunately retired and sold his practice. I don't think that any of the nurse practitioners are there anymore either.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel people deserve a clear warning about my experience at this office. On October 27th, I had a small cyst removed from the top of my head. During the consultation, the doctor told me the cyst was unlikely to be serious and that the surgery was up to me. He was friendly, but not thorough about explaining what the procedure would actually involve. Based on what I knew, I expected a simple linear incision with the cyst removed. That is not what happened. Once the anesthesia was given, the doctor made a circular incision, removed an actual piece of my scalp, and cauterized the area. None of this was explained beforehand. When he cauterized the area, he burned the surrounding scalp as well, damaging the hair follicles. When I removed the bandages, there was a ton of burnt hair stuck to them, and I doubt the hair will ever grow back. He stapled it shut, left the room immediately, and that was the last I saw of him. The nurse gave me topical antibiotic ointment and sent me on my way. This is where the issues really started. I was told to take over-the-counter pain meds, but they did nothing. My scalp felt like it was on fire from the staples pulling constantly. I couldn't sleep for almost a week. The wound bled, oozed, and continued to pull on the staples with every movement I made. I called the office during that week since there was no checkup on me until the staple removal appointment. I told them my wound continued to discharge, bleed, and was so painful I couldn't lay my head on a pillow. All they did was call in antibiotics--no follow-up, no instructions, no concern. Fast forward to November 18th, the day the staples were removed. I went in hoping this nightmare was finally over. Instead, the nurse looked alarmed and said, "I need to get a doctor. The staples didn't work closing the wound, and your wound is totally open and looks infected." Another doctor came in, looked at my head for a few minutes, ordered a culture, and told me results would be in within a week. They never came. I was told to continue antibiotics even though they were running out. I was then told I would have to leave the wound open to heal from the inside, and the nurse joked, "You're going to have a good scar." After seeing it myself, "good scar" was an understatement. The scar I'm going to have is severe, and I do not feel a second thought was given to how it would look. Considering this is on the top of my head, aesthetics should have been a high priority--not an afterthought. I had no idea how bad it was until I got home and checked the mirror. I called again on November 25th for the pathologist report to see if my wound was infected. Still NOOO results, even though I was told they would be in. Then on December 2nd, I received a call informing me that the office had LOST my lab results entirely. They did not discover this until that day. I was told they were sorry, but luckily I had gone for a second opinion--otherwise I could have been walking around with a serious untreated infection that might have required additional surgical procedures. I have never in my life experienced a surgery where things were handled this poorly. At this point, I am still dealing with an open wound on my head, a patch of missing hair, and a scar that I will have for life. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE considering the way I was treated. The only thing I can do now is leave this review to warn others and never return to this subpar establishment

I have been a client of the Skin Wellness Center since 2018. My primary doctor was Ms. Linda, who…read moreassisted me in managing the dark spots on my face. Over the years, we tried various treatments, including Brighter Paths, retinol, and Vivant Daily Pads. On 6/20/2023, Ms. Linda recommended a peeling treatment to be scheduled for 10/23/2023.   The center's hours of operation are rather inconvenient and limited, being open from 9 AM to 12 PM, then closed for an hour, and reopening from 1 PM to 4 PM which makes scheduling appointments difficult for people who work a conventional 9-5 job. Additionally, reaching the center by phone is challenging as calls are rarely answered or returned.   When Ms. Linda performed my peeling treatment, she applied a very strong peel to the areas she had been previously treating and she advised a follow-up after two weeks and provided me with instructions to use Brighter Paths for use post-treatment.  She did return one call to follow up since the peel treatment, but the call was missed since I was at work. When I attempted to return her call, no one answered or called me back.   During the 2023 holiday season, I received no further communication from Ms. Linda or the Skin Wellness Center. Concerned about my skin's reaction and condition, I sought a second opinion elsewhere and was informed that the peeling had caused a burning reaction and damage to my skin. I attempted to contact the center again without success, so I visited in person. I was informed that Ms. Linda had been terminated in November and the center failed to notify me of this change.   I spoke with the owner, who reviewed the missed calls during that period. Despite my willingness to give the center another chance, I agreed to schedule another appointment and, in the end, it ended up being another letdown. I was told to schedule an appointment with Dr. Melanie for a biopsy to assess the damage to my skin and determine a new treatment plan. However, once again, scheduling this appointment was extremely difficult due to her limited availability.   Two months later, I finally met with Dr. Melanie, but the experience was disappointing and something I hope no one else has to go through. She was rude and dismissive, blaming me for the damage (saying it was my fault since I'm the one responsible for scheduling, she was not understanding/considering that the center was not returning calls) and stated that there was nothing more she could do. She abruptly left the office shouting and left most of my questions about the new treatment process unanswered. To say there was a lack of compassion was an understatement.   This center demonstrates a lack of concern for their clients' well-being and fails to take responsibility for their actions and poor medical treatments, which can lead to serious health issues. My experience has been extremely distressing, and I want to warn potetial customers to avoid this place. Do your research before visiting a place like this so you don't end up with physical and emotional scarring like me!! Your skin and well-being deserve better care than what this place provides.

The doctor prescribed steroid cream, which made his rash extremely worse. My son called and emailed photographs to the doctor and received no response. By this time he had traveled to another state. Made another appointment with another dermatologist, who took the time to listen and review all of his photographs of his rash and listen to the diagnosis. This dermatologist with 100 percent confidence diagnosed and confirmed it was a fungal infection, and that the steroid cream prescribed by Dermatology of west Florida was THE ABSOLUTE WRONG THING TO DO!! It made it WORSE!!!!! Now he's treating it for fungus, and is now improving. So disappointed with Dermatology of west Florida. How can a doctor misdiagnosis a fungal infection? Plus not offer a follow up? Grossly negligent. I sure wouldn't go there for anything!!!! If they can get this wrong, what other harm are they doing to other patients? My advice? Don't go there!!!! I wish I could give 0 stars.
