During my representation, there was also a delay in responding to a child support adjustment motion that resulted in nearly two additional years of litigation. Because of that delay, I ultimately had to retain different counsel at an additional cost of approximately $10,000. Before I retained the firm, I was told my case was straightforward and that they had experience handling matters like mine. Carrie Kelly and the firm were aware that I was a single mother of four. I was encouraged to use credit cards and financing options, including Affirm, to pay the retainer with the expectation that the judgment would be collected and the fees could be paid from those proceeds. That never happened. Despite never recovering any money on the judgment, I was billed approximately $15,000 in legal fees, which ultimately resulted in a judgment against me.
