One thing to note is that rooms are tiny - it didn't bother me, but I can project a lot of unsatisfied customers.

I had a quiet room facing an interior green area. My room was warm but I was able to open the window and that made it very pleasant. And it wasn't noisy at all other than the church bells ringing late in the morning but that was a joy to hear. The area around the hotel is wonderful. And so walkable. Many great restaurants close by and a grocery store right around the corner. You can walk to the Grand Place by going right or left out of the hotel. Close to everything but in a nice and quiet upscale area. I look forward to my nice time here.

When the AC didn't work in the second room, We were told to open the window. We were told we could not move again because the hotel was booked the NEXT night. I asked why they were not allowing us to move to an empty room for THIS night and they said the manager would have to approve and he was gone for the weekend. When we asked if the AC could be fixed, they said the technician was gone for the weekend. The AC worked very well in my daughter's room. In fact, she was chilly. The restaurant is overpriced and the food okay, but not great. The carpets are dirty and the bathroom has an odor.

The zoo is right next to it, Mier Street (the big shopping area) is about a 10 minute walk and Grote Plaza and the cathedral are another 10 minutes. The Mas and Red Star Line museums are a bit farther, but for me anything within an hour is walkable and these are all within that time limit. The staff is very friendly. When I checked in, the girl gave me a brief, relevant overview (this is the shopping street, it's closed tomorrow so if you want to shop go today. Here's the outdoor market, it's only today and ends at 4. And this is the MAS which is my favorite museum). Overall, the staff was excellent. The room was a good sized or Europe. Actually had a king bed and some room to walk around. Bed was comfortable enough...which to me if you're traveling right you should be out and not in your room much. Free wifi with a good signal. And you can use the gym at the Radisson Blu across the plaza which is a good gym (has weights in addition to treadmills and such). I'd definitely stay here again if I was in Antwerp.

The hostel doesn't provide towels even in the private rooms but they hire them for €1 at reception. They don't have any toiletries in the bathrooms, not even soap, so make sure to pack your own. The wifi worked well both in the reception and rooms. It's free and was a good speed. The bar area is in reception currently and has a good selection of beers. It was still open at 2am when we came back. It was a good place to meet and have a drink but I'm not sure I'd spend the whole evening there. Breakfast is included in the room rate and was surprisingly good. There was bread, cheese, cold meat, cereal, yogurt, eggs, juice and tea and coffee. It's served from 7am to 9am during the week and until 10am at the weekend. The hostel is one street over from a busy shopping street, reasonably close to the metro and an easy walk to the city centre.

I was just disappointed by the points I mentioned below: 1. Which hostel on earth has a check-in time at 3PM??? We arrived very early (around 9am) and we were sooooo tired and we couldn't check in!!! 2. Since we booked a private twin room we were spared from the 'lock-out'. Those who book a dorm have to leave the room from 11am until 3pm! 3. They have no open kitchen which you can use 24/7. The kitchen is just open for breakfast in the morning. The only thing they provide is a microwave, which was really dirty. BAH! 4. Internet is NOT FREE!!! 30min=is 1 Euro. How insane is that? 5. NO TOWELS! and no soap either... BUT at least they had toilet paper, great isn't it?

Included in the room rate that the Conference arranged for was the hotel's breakfast buffet. It was standard Belgium styled buffet, above average in selection and quality. Really nice change, especially when it took me 21 hours of travel and having airline foods, and so I sleep in a comfy bed, and wake up to REAL food! The conference facilities were really nice and what stood out was they refreshed the water after every break! Offered still water (non carbonated) and carbonated water for each pair of attendees in glass bottles. All side drinks were in glass bottles as well. The conference provided lunch was a nice selection of sandwiches, quiches, and salads, with finger sized eclairs - really nice. First impressions very important. After check in, the very nice and personable front desk worker escorted me to my room, showed me all the features, and explained some of the hotel amenities along the way, gave me a contact number and wished me a nice stay. A nice personalized tough I thought. Check out was efficient with no wait. Housekeeping A+ with workers who made sure to greet you when you ran into them in the hallways. I did not get to explore the area much, but it is located on Avenue Louise with a lot of higher end shops. But by walking just a block or so, there quite a mixture of other places, smaller stores, grocery stores, mini pharmacies, etc. But it is a bit away from the city center. So a nice, solid place to stay, with nice service and would definitely stay again.

We came back from dinner to find it open...when I let the front desk know, they asked if anything was missing and if we wanted them to look at surveillance cameras, we said nothing was missing but we did want them to check cameras, they never followed up. I asked to speak to their GM, they said he's on holiday - funny that the next day I get an automated email from "him" asking about my stay. The location - good and next to transport, though about a mile from Brussels central square. The service - terrible. Our fridge was broken for over 24 hours. We had to ask 3 times for them to fix it. It took 20 minutes to get a cocktail at the Louis bar and quite frankly, it feels like no one wants to be there. The breakfast buffet - ok, for 40 dollars, I feel like it should have been more unique. It had all the basics, but nothing over the top and if it's not included in your stay, I'd opt out. The bar - its 20 dollar drinks... and a 30 dollar club sandwich... will leave it at that The room - huge, but outdated and the beds were terrible. The outlet was on the verge of falling off the wall and the shower has no light. The pool - is 35 euros a person, they bait you into thinking the pool is their property but it's actually part of an independent spa. It's just too expensive for what you get.
