Gorgeous yellow sand, clear and clean water, jetties extending hundreds of metres out to sea and boats sailing past. Beautiful! Plus it's in town. If Frankston was considered a seperate city, which it is not, it would be the second biggest in Victoria. It's a thriving place and only 40 minutes drive to the centre of Melbourne. So what's wrong with it? It has a reputation for being filled with drug addicts and chav's. Unemployed people and bogans. The reality is very different to this reputation. Frankston High school has a great scholastic and sporting reputation. There is a thriving arts community. There is an enormous amount of new development and new opportunity. Frankston is not included in the Lonely Planet guide book at all (for this snobby reason) and is almost never visited by tourists. Cheap, beautiful and exciting. Check it out!

The north end appear to be where single men meet & the middle is usually more couples oriented & entire families are often at the middle & south end of the beach. This beach is easily accessible and reasonably private, considering it ajoins a camp! You can get…read morethere via a 5 min walk along a thin path, starting out North from the car park or by walking directly on the rocks around the bend. As this beach faces the bay, the water is cool and calm and it is a bit more protected from the weather and elements than some other beachs (such as point impossible) As with all nudist beaches, the creepy male presence is high and detracts from the experience, especially if you are female. I actually ended up confronting one particular man after he stared at me non stop for a good 30 min. Also had a funny moment with a passing by stand up paddle boarder who I thought would fall into the water considering he didn't watch where he was going for a good 5 min until I waved and he promptly pretended the water was more interesting. I was pleased to see that I wasn't the only women on the beach (as I often am) and that the people were quite friendly. We ended up meeting a few nice people who chatted easily and shared stories. Unfortunately some of these stories were about sexual assaults perpetrated on the beach :( I encourage women to frequent places like this and speak up and report inappropriate behaviors. This is the only way we can change the sexist culture and enjoy our own freedoms. Ladies, next time you feel gawked at, say something. You'd be surprised by how well supported you will feel by the regulars who frequent this beach and want everyone to feel safe

It was quite peaceful when I was here, though it does look like they are developing it a bit more. I'm not sure what it is like during the hotter days, though being near a railway station sort of suggests that I probably does get crowded. However, it isn't so much of a touristy beach like some of the others, so I'll say it does happen to be rather nice.

In contrast to the bustling commercial beach of St Kilda in Melbourne, Mills Beach is a quiet and…read morerelaxing beach. Depending on whether you want something a bit more busy or maybe a beach that leans on the peaceful side, Mills Beach is a hit or miss depending on your mood. Essentially, if you want a relaxing time, there probably isn't a better beach than Mills. ~ The water for one is extremely clear with a sandbar that stretches out as far as you can see. When I say clear, I mean REALLY clear. You can see the little fishes swimming around your feet and legs. ~ Every now and again you'd see an owner walking their tiny little puppy. If you're a puppy lover like me, prepare to squeal your heart out. ~ The sand is soft instead of hard, rocky, and polluted by plastic. Like I said, typically there's not many people down at Mills Beach nor are there commercial shops nearby. Mills Beach is more of a relaxation getaway. My recommendation? Bring a book!
