My wife and I had to go to Quincy to recover our son's car. He was murdered just over 2 years ago at Buck's Lake and his car has been in the Sheriffs impound lot since then. We were headed out of town, in the rain, when my wife lowered the driver window to clear it of steam. Then it wouldn't go back up. It is an electric window and we couldn't get it to move. We checked for a garage nearby and found this place. They were very happy to help us out. They diagnosed the problem and were able to get the window up. Then they wouldn't let us pay for the repair. This family-run business is fantastic! My air conditioning went out last year on my 2005 Subaru Outback and I didn't want to put any more money into it because it has gone out on me before and it cost a lot of time and money to fix it. But driving through the Sacramento Valley in heat of 106 degrees changes one's mind really fast. I was able to get an appointment in on a Friday, dropped the car off, and within a few hours, they had diagnosed the problem. It was a part that had to be ordered, but they showed me how to install it, the part came in the next day at Plumas Auto Supply, and voila, everything was perfect. If I had taken my car in to a shop in the Bay Area, I know that I would have been out at least a couple of hundred dollars just to have them diagnose it, and I can bet they would not have been able to easily figure out the problem and then fix it for less than $300. They charged me less than $50 and with the part, it cost me less than $60. Yes! I can't recommend them highly enough. They are fast, friendly and honest people doing great work. These are the mechanics that used to be around when I was growing up, who spoke to you as a friend, did honest work, and made sure you were happy. That's also partly on the people of Quincy, too. If you want your car done right from someone you can trust, go to Frank's Garage. I know I'll be back in a few weeks when I'm on vacation to have another problem fixed that I thought was going to be a big deal, but they told me that it happens all the time and it's just a little problem that can be taken care of in no time at all. When I was once again disappointed with a repair shop a couple of years ago, I decided to try Frank's Garage. I can't say enough good things about Brian, Joy and their staff. They have taken very good care of our vehicles and I believe their prices are fair. I'm not sure what this guy is talking about in terms of Frank's not returning calls or answering the phone. I had a pretty good experience with this shop the first few times that they worked on my vehicle and because of this I referred a few people to them. All of the people I referred to them told me that while their prices were reasonable enough they were slow and rarely answered the phone or returned their calls. So, having a new project myself I gave them a call, I was told that the mechanic would call me back that day, 3 days later still no call, I called again and left a message requesting a return phone call, 1 week later still no call. I called another shop that a friend referred me to, the phone was answered and I got to speak to a mechanic. He was knowledgeable about my particular problem and will get my business. Owner is very nice, helpful, and honest. Not condescending (for you clueless men and women out there). They started working on it the second I drove up, fixed my car in a reasonable amount of time, did it in front of me, and explained in detail what they were doing. I later asked some advice about my soft brakes and why I've had to have my master cylinder replaced four times in the last 6 years. He said they could diagnose it (a complicated process that he explained in detail) for around $40. I will be returning, if I can. Plus, Frank the dog is awesome and adorable.
