Love Sun Soo and especially the Mighty Lion and Might Tiger instructors…read more Master Dexter has a background in elementary education and it is apparent because of how great she is with the kids. I think though, if you desire a certain "atmosphere" for your kid, read on... We moved to Asheville in Oct '18 and wanting to make friends for myself and my boys we thought some kind of physical activity with a group would be a good thing. Especially the part about expending energy of said boys. We had a private lesson with Master Dexter and was very excited to sign up. We would be paying up front for the whole year, had two boys signing up and we are a homeschooling family. (make sure to mention you HS before paying tuition!) The lessons started - it's so cute watching the boys in their little uniforms doing their kicks and punches. Also learning good behavior and self control with a "yes ma'am/sir!" Every other month they have testing, which means they test your child on what they know and if they pass they get a higher level belt. Those testings are $20 (but $40 for us). They also have spring and fall tournaments where you can sign up and the kids compete with each other and break boards. They get cute little medals for that. That is $25 (and $50 for us). As for the meeting new people part... not so much for us. We head to class, which is twice a week with 4 different days to choose from, the boys run out to the mat and the lessons are started. The parents sit on the sidelines and play on their phones or chat with their BFF who also is signed up for classes. I believe I tried meeting a few other moms but because of the different days and amount of parents I've never actually seen the same mom again. The boys finish their class, run back to me, shoes on and we head home. They don't know anyone in their class. If you're looking to make friends for your kids/yourself TKD probably isn't the best option. If you're looking for expelling energy and instilling discipline, then TKD is probably a better match for you.

Love this place. I'm stronger and more confident than I've ever been and I've also made some really…read morewonderful friends. Thanks Sun Soo and all your wonderful staff!
