Vacationing in Ihla Bela for New Years and my Brazilian friends really wanted to try this place…read moreout. I was excited for the Brazilian-Thai fusion, and Marakuthai did not disappoint!!
Towards the north end of the island, this restaurant is hidden from the outside by a white wooden fence and is only open for certain hours for lunch then dinner. We arrived right at 8 for dinner (opening time) and seated right away! The location is great as it's right on the sand with a view of the water and boats docked near by.
Dim lighting and lit candles really set the tone here! We decided to start with a crispy, and thin sliced fish covered with an oriental sauce I wasn't familiar with. Perfect starter! For the main dishes, we ordered Bali, Surim, Thai Spaghetti, and Camarón fora de Morange. My dish was Surim and I have to say it was the crowd favorite.
The dish consisted of shrimp, calamari, and octopus mixed in what seemed to be a very thin risotto. The sauce consisted of tomatoes, basil, coconut milk and more. I was amazed at how tasteful my dish was. Still dreaming about it...
Highly recommended to all visiting the island!
