Brilliant shop in Beechworth & Fitzroy and now in Braddon in Canberra!! A shame not open for Friday late night shopping.

Westside Sunday Markets - Damn Fine Coffee Shop and Daana Indian food

Very cool space in a tiny shipping container village. This market has so much potential, but right…read morenow it's a bit too small to make this a draw, with less than 15 stalls in total. I walked around and saw everything in about 10 minutes. Stalls have a good variety, from vintage clothing and books to plants, candles, soaps, jewellery, art, greeting cards, homewares, and produce. There are several food trucks that make great food, however, so it's a great place to stop for lunch. I had a couple of steamed bao at The Fish Can, who specialise in seafood (but I was craving pork belly, and for a seafood place they did it very well). The soft shell crab bao was also excellent, and at around $4.50 each I thought it was well priced for what you get. I was surprised that such great food can be made in a food truck! My sister ordered the chicken wings from the truck next to it, with the BBQ sauce (you could also choose from hot sauce and one other which I can't remember now), and the chicken was juicy and the sauce delicious. At $6.50 for 5 wings it's also pretty good value. Damn Fine Coffee serves up really good (and large!) coffees, milkshakes, pies and hotdogs. There are other options, like street food, charcoal chicken, Vietnamese, Indian, and gelato/ice cream, but since we didn't try those I can't comment. If you have kids, they'll love the face painting and balloon animals. Our balloon dog popped and the man was nice enough to replace it - he has a same day pop replacement guarantee! It's also worth noting that parking is free here on weekends, which isn't the case in many parts of the city.
