Our family of seven reserved e-bikes and regular bikes to rent for a day of cycling while on a cruise stop. We were welcomed warmly by the Framework team and were soon helmeted and on our way along a route the staff advised: gorgeous coastline views and stop at picturesque Low Point Lighthouse. I was travelling through Sydney Nova Scotia on an extended North American vacation. I stopped in to Framework Cycle and Fitness looking for a bike I could purchase to ride on nova Scotia's rougher trails. My road bike just isn't suited for many of these rides. I talked at length to the owner and found him to be very knowledgeable. He convinced me that a cross hybrid bicycle would best suit my needs and even went so far as to say the one he had in stock, in my size, was probably not the best for my style of riding. Framework Cycle & Fitness, Sydney N.S., Canada If you are looking to rent a bike this shop does NOT welcome walk-ins. We arrived to this small town on a cruise ship and walked some distance to their business and they were unwilling to rent to us for a few hours. They had bikes there but said they had not been inspected. We offered to wait patiently but the lady who worked there was more concerned about going to lunch. Just wondering, if you ran a business in a small seasonal town that depends on tourism, would you check the ship schedule and have your bikes checked and ready in case you get walk ins when the tourists are there? Seems to make sense to me. Anyway, either reserve in advance (we were unsure about the weather) or rent at any of your other stops where there are plenty of friendly and customer-focused bike shops. We had great success renting in Bar Harbor, Halifax, Quebec City and Montreal. read more
