I definitely will not use Bierman CPA for my tax preparation next year and I would not recommend them. They are too expensive and too slow. I paid 3X more for the tax preparation than I did last year with another CPA firm. Results were comparable, so I questioned the $3500 cost for personal tax preparation. I had to wait one month for the taxes to be completed. I was not told in advance that business taxes take precedence over personal taxes. If they had told me this in the initial consultation, I would not have hired them.

If you are looking for a competent professional tax firm go somewhere else. I'm an attorney and…read morecontacted this firm for bookkeeping services. I thought everything was being handled well until I received my first invoice. I was billed for 3 months of work and presented with a balance. That is all. The invoice did not itemize the work that was completed nor the time spent on my accounts. I called to inquire and was told the person in charge of billing was out of the office. I emailed said person and requested a call to discuss my invoice when she get back to the office. I had to write multiple emails, and finally, more than 3 weeks after my initial inquiry, I received a call back. In terms of the invoice, I was told that "our billing software doesn't print hours spent" or something to that effect. I found this excuse to be weak and bizarre. So I decided to look into my accounts. I realized that none of my accounts had been reconciled for more than 3 months! At that point I decided to terminate my relationship with this firm. I retained a new bookkeeper that has been working hard to fix the errors done by Bierman's & staff. I was content with moving on. But then I received this email from current bookkeeper: "I am not sure if your prior bookkeeper knew what they were doing, but unfortunately none of the IOLTA expenses in 2018 were allocated to any specific accounts, they were just re-allocated back to the bank account. The whole year needs to be reconciled....No disrespect but you really should ask for your money back if you paid for services because almost everything (90%) that was done was incorrect, I have never seen anything like this before" This is a serious matter. As an attorney I have to report my accounting to the State Bar. Bierman's substandard work placed my law license, and my clients lives, in jeopardy.

What sets Ed apart is his AMAZING work ethic (he will get back to you on a Saturday night with questions, even out-of-season), he'll prepare everything for you in a flash and usually can squeeze in a face-to-face when you need it, he'll be there for you via phone to answer any and all questions regarding letters, deductions, etc... and of course, he's a full-fledged CPA, not some kid or old lady that decided to quit her dayjob to become a real estate agent / "tax preparer" - he's the real deal. He handles a ton of my friends' business accounts and taxes and has been truly amazing to me from the get-go, and this is why I return to Ed, year after year, since I was introduced to him by my friend Patrick. You can pay a tiny bit less and get your taxes done by a walk-in place and miss a ton of cash or you can go to a shady tax preparer who doesn't really know what red flags to look for or in my case, tried to write off lottery tickets one year (I wish I was kidding)... ORRRRR you can come to Ed at Simons Accountancy Corp... get it done right. Have that peace of mind. Keep your money in your pockets and in your bank account. For me, it's a peace of mind and professionalism thing, plus of course the access he provides his clients. He's never missed once and for this I am truly grateful - can't recommend enough!

I am not confident in my math skills and am convinced I will do something wrong on my tax return. Finally, I have found a tax accountant who makes the process easy, painless and fear-free. Ed Simons walked me through my profit and loss sheet with kindness, confidence and sound knowledge of his craft. He made me feel in control, and for once I didn't feel like a total idiot about how I kept my records or my lack of understanding of the process. Simons Accountancy prepared my return in record time, and even sent them off online for me--no waiting in the post office lines for me! Even though I had a tax payment due, I was very pleased with the entire process. And the fees are incredibly reasonable. But the icing on the cake was the extra step that Ed and his company took for me. Many tax people had mentioned that I should be sending an amount of money to the IRS against next year's taxes, but never took the time to explain why or how. Not only did Ed explain why I should do it, but also when I received my tax return, there were also four envelopes addressed and filled out for me. This way I can easily send next year's payments to the IRS and maybe even get some money back next year. Never before have I received this kind of service from a tax accountant! If you want a tax accountant that goes beyond competence and crunching numbers, that provides exemplary service and results, then Ed Simons is the man to call. I can't recommend him enough. I know I won't use anyone else in future!

When I received news that his son, Tony Eusebio, opened up a tax office aim Sierra Madre, I made my appointment there in support of this new venture. The drive for my husband & I was about an hour, which was absolutely worth it. Sierra Madre is a small town outside of Pasadena & it's an absolute gem! The office is walking distance from Starbucks & is next door to the Creative Arts Group. It's in an office building on the first floor, even though you go up a few steps. The office is small, but bright & full of light. We were immediately greeted by Tony & shortly after getting settled, Bert walked in. We immediately got started with my husband's taxes & informed them that my husband started a small boutique farm, Happy Leaf Farms, creating organic container farms for those living in small spaces. And that I'd becoming a real estate agent soon. They both have us great tips! We were informed to keep all of our receipts, make a log of miles used for the business. We were asked why we filed separately & let them know it's required for my student loan repayment program. After speaking at length about all that we could do, we came to the conclusion that this was much more manageable than we thought. And next year with the return we'll be getting as a married couple, I won't need to be enrolled in the student loan repayment program. Instead of getting what we thought we'd be receiving, with the tips they implemented, we will be receiving more in our returns! Thankfully, we had all of our receipts saved & transactions made on credit cards & bank statements. I also received a great list of books on real estate from Tony, that I will now be adding to my Amazon list. Tony & Bert make a great team & are so effective in helping business owners achieve the most out of their returns! We highly recommend Sierra Madre Accounting Services! You won't regret it! I…read morehave had the pleasure of working with Tony, and could not be more satisfied with the all around service, and care recieved over the years. I met Tony 3 years ago when I was going through a partnership separation in the business that left me clueless on how to proceed. First off Tony is probably the smartest guy I know. In his practice, he does SO MUCH more for his clients then accounting. He has given me SO MUCH advice, support, and guidance that helped me grow in, and understand business. The old partner did a horrible job with the bookkeeping it took Tony about a year or so to clean everything up. Tony also does my personal and business taxes every year, and takes care of my employees with his payroll service. I can honestly say that without Sierra Madre Accounting, my little grooming salon can not function. They are more then just my accountants. They are my partners.

(1 star) I contacted…read moreGardner, Bench & Johnson CPAs to ask about their tax preparation process. Initially, the conversation seemed professional and straightforward. I was quoted $400 total, which was fine. When I asked a simple question about whether payment could be split (half upfront and half later), I was told they usually don't take payment upfront at all. However, the conversation quickly became uncomfortable and unprofessional. I was then told that based on what I was saying, it seemed like I "wouldn't pay," and I was asked if my money was tight or if I was struggling financially. This was an inappropriate and unnecessary assumption. Asking about payment structure does not mean someone cannot pay, and questioning a potential client's financial situation in that way is unprofessional. Because of how that conversation was handled, I decided not to move forward. Trust and professionalism are critical when dealing with taxes, and this interaction did not inspire confidence.
