Consequently, they were placed in a dangerous position where horses were too close and bucked. Put my daughter off riding to the point she quit. I was contacted the morning of camp. She canceled the day due to lack of interest. I was to be credited 3 private lessons, for which there was no availability and I was waitlisted. It's been 5 months.!! I contacted for a refund with no response. Accounting is a mess, they constantly miscalculated my payments and attempted to charge me for lesson package after we were no longer riding here. She kept trying to charge me for past lessons, when I paid for all our lessons and lesson packages upfront. And in addition, to sending incorrect invoices, they included some other person's credit card info, which is funny because they told me they only take checks and a real bummer for the other guy. Over 3 months I never saw one stable hand anywhere on the premise. The girls paying for lessons take care of all the lesson horses, completely unsupervised. This is an accident waiting to happen. They still owe me money for lessons. Red Coat is a mismanaged barn operating in the dark ages. I've asked around since then and other professional riders have had similar experiences. We are at another barn in Lake Forest. The experience has been night and day! And they take Venmo, like normal people.

Beth Contos brought this place to the very high level. Sadly, it fell very fast to the level 0. If you really want to learn to ride with harmony with your horse, find place with Beth. Turnout is very very limited, and the pastures they used were small. Communication was hard with owners/trainer, often with conflicting information. My horse was given medication without my permission. Grooms are fabulous but seem really tired and rely heavily on tips, which is fine, but it is difficult when you are paying a pretty penny for board. Great barn for shows but not for horsemanship. Edit to add: I was with a different trainer whom I left a while ago, but the grooms still did things the other trainer requested be done.

However, beware- if you desire or request a different program or plan for you and your horse other than what the Resident trainer sees fit: be prepared for public admonishment, nasty comments, texts, emails and your horse being borderline neglected (i.e. not turned out daily, nor supplements given as directed). Further, if you propose to speak to the owner regarding any concerns, be prepared to receive a cursory response via email but do not expect any resolution of your matter. All this for $1200.00 per month. Training rides are mandatory and expensive. If one chooses to board here, good luck; you will appear to be spending time in a brass finials gilded cage--but it will be one that hasn't been cleaned in a very long time.

Started out here at their summer camp when I was in third grade, which is a little late to start…read moreriding. However, they put me with people my own age and they worked with everyone individually, and by the end I felt very comfortable here. I rode her for about three years, until I broke my toe(not from horses) and stopped for two months. I came back for camp, which was great, although Kara no longer works there. The new instructors were really nice, but the lessons were only half an hour but still cost $60, which we couldn't afford. However, if you can afford this, I really, highly recommend Galway because they can teach any level of rider and I learned something every time. They have great lesson horses and take really good care of the horses they board. I still really miss this place.

Whether I have had full service or just a few services, my gelding is still treated like he's the owners horse! The best tell for how wonderful it is, is that people who leave, no matter why, return! They say that there is no place like Townline. It's absolutely the truth. My daughter even feels like the barn manager is like a second mom. It's a family here, and not just for our horses!

I really liked the energy that the instructor gave us as well as to the kids. I really thought it was going to be a boring learning class. BUT it was not she made it fun they played Simon says while riding the horses! They had student's from the farm assisting my kids and it was great because some of my kids were a little . The farm had a picnic table right outside by the shade which made it convenient. Everything went so smooth! Great organization! Thank you again for having us!!!
