It was a beautiful August afternoon in Virginia. Warm, but not sweltering. The sun was lowering, but not yet ready to hide. I found myself driving a slender gravel road up a hillside. The mountains to my right, vast open fields all around. Picturesque would be an understatement for description. The setting alone conjures awe and appreciation. But that was not my primary purpose for being here. This venue, so deceptive with the simplicity of its exterior, was why.
Outside, a single story building with a metal roof. No special lighting, impressive paint choices, or extraordinary landscaping. But then, you step inside. The wood beams crisscrossing the open space and lining the ceiling immediately draw your attention. From there you begin to notice the perfectly placed lighting, including a chandelier marking the center of the room. Long pieces of lace flow like a visible evening breeze throughout. And the dark hardwood floors serve as the capstone to this setting. You look out the windows to see the aforementioned mountain side, leaves turning color (or covered in snow, depending on the time of year). There is a outside chapel area, if needed, and a brick patio for various options.
It holds a full sized commercial kitchen, two rooms and two restrooms. It truly is a space for any occasion, though I was only an attendee this time. I don't know if I'll ever have a reason to return, but if given the option I will not hesitate. If you need a venue, or just a relaxing Sunday drive, go and check this place out. read more
