This is definitely the facility that you want your loved one in. My mother was at Fox Hill/Genesis for about 5 weeks & I could not have asked for better care for her. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable & responsive; the grounds are inviting & well-kept; the care is excellent. The food is very good & there is decent variety of meals served. Activities are diverse & plentiful. From the maintenance staff to the aides & nurses, everyone is doing their job & doing it well. I never worried that my mother was being ignored or forgotten & more importantly she felt safe & as though she was getting everything she needed. read more

I spent two difficult weeks there after an accident that left me wheelchair bound and needing physical therapy. The room I was given was used as a store room for other equipment. The food was disgusting and the breakfast "eggs" gave me such diarrhea that I actually had an accident in the doctor's office during my first visit post-surgery. There was one very nice and dedicated nurse but the rest were dismissive and all but two of the aides acted as if I was an inconvenience. I will say that the therapists were very good but also very overbooked. Only 30 minutes of therapy Monday through Friday and none on the weekend. The medical "staff" if you could call it that was seen via a cell phone link except for the nurse practitioner who was pretty much useless. They were also out of network even though the facility was supposedly in network. read more

My friend was here for post hospitalization rehab.The first thing I noticed was the urine stench as I entered the front door. The place is run down and gloomy. The semi-private rooms are too small for 2 patients and lacking in appropriate furnishings i.e. no guest chairs and no closets, except a rocket wardrobe. The bathrooms are sad. My friend filled out her meal orders, but was never given the items she ordered. We couldn't figure out what her meal was supposed to be. It did not look or smell appealing. She mostly ate cold cereal and snacks that we brought for her. My friend rang for assistance, but no one stopped into her room to see what she wanted. Good thing it wasn't an emergency. My friend said the physical therapist was nice. The front desk receptionist was polite and helpful. I don't know why the state of Connecticut allows this place to stay open. Disgusting. read more

My mom has been a resident of Genesis Foxhill for over a year. We have been very pleased with the care she has been given even through the Covid-19 crisis. They have been very upfront and transparent via twice weekly Zoom updates. Their goal, I'm sure, was to try and make those of us who have loved ones in this facility feel comfortable. I feel they accomplished that with these by-weekly updates, window visits and now outside table visits. By fortunate chance, my mom was moved to the negative area and was able to use her window, which pleased her immensely and helped her get through this difficult time since she's in dementia. Thank you Genesis Foxhill for all you have done and continue to do! read more

Its really too bad I really like my Dr but the support staff is destroying its physician's reputation.

Firstly, the salesperson said they have a calendar filled every day with activities so that the…read morememory care (Harbor) patients would always have something to do to keep their mind at work. I saw this calendar just outside the entrance to the Harbor area, and it looked great. Well, every single day I went to visit my mother there wasn't ever ANYTHING going on. Everyone was just sitting on the recliners asleep. I never witnessed a single activity. I had a private aid with my mom every day all day as well, and she told us there wasn't anything going on during the day. Secondly, while my mother was in the facility I had to reach out to a few people in upper management, Peg Sullivan and Jenn Brin, to get some basic questions answered. The emails or voicemails I left were rarely responded to. I'd have to get in my car and drive down there to get any communication across. This was very annoying. Thirdly, I reached out to get a couple simple things addressed in my mom's room. There was a ton of dirty dust on the outside of the AC vent register on the ceiling. I wanted it cleaned off. You guessed it, nobody responded. When taking the tour of the facility, I noticed a lot of base trim work was removed in the large community area where the sofas and TVs are. I asked the salesperson about that. She said they were doing some renovating and painting. A month later and the base trim was still not reinstalled. If I had to guess, I'm sure it's still not reinstalled at this very moment. My mom's house was very neat, and in perfect repair, so these 2 minor things were important for me to get addressed. Finally, when all was said and done and my mom was no longer living here, they owed me some money. I went back and forth several times asking when I'd get it. It took them over a month to get me the money they owed me. That was a bit insulting. For the amount of money you pay to live there, they really should have MUCH better service. Some words of advice - stay away. If you absolutely have to move a loved one here, get them their own private aid and make sure they have a lot of visitors.

(I can laugh about it now, but it obviously was not very funny at the time). I won't bore anyone with all the details about my own medical situation. Beside, I'd rather keep it private, if you know what I mean.... Anyways, the hospital environment is very, very clean - just the way a hospital shoul d be. (Sterile would actually be the more appropriate word to use.) And I was extremely impressed with how clean and neat everything was. The bed linens are changed each day, even if you don't request it. I don't know if they do that with all their patients, or just me a self-proclaimed germophobe, lol!! The hospital staff there are also very friendly, and I developed a really good relationship with one of them during the time I was there. She really made my otherwise uncomfortable stay here much more manageable with her great sense of humor and genuine care for all her patients. I really hope they recognize her as their employee of the year at the hospital, because she definitely deserves it!! On a scale from 1-5, I obvilously would give them 6 stars, lol!! Seriously though, I do definitely recommend them: great service, clean environment and a staff who really cares!!
