Actually, for emphasis a minus five (-5) star rating. When Ken Fox stilled owned this business, with his sister Jacki Willard running ops, this was a reliable facility. Jacki Willard 5-plus years ago: "Two distinguishing characteristics drive our everyday service: honesty and reliability." The shop was subsequently sold to a local shop owner, Patrick Howard, with Jacki still efficiently, ethically and honestly managing ops. Jacki has since died unfortunately. Patrick Howard moved to Texas and, per staff, was in the process of selling this shop when we last contacted Fox Auto. Still trusting Fox from work performed when Ken and Jacki were managing the business, major engine and drive train work were performed by Fox. FYI, a change in shop repair staff (mechanics) was noticed at about this time but that was attributed to industry related attrition and normal turnover. To make an already long narrative shorter, attached are copies of work performed by Fox. All this work needs to be redone, with less than 1,000 miles on those alleged repairs. Fox will argue statute of limitation since repairs are 4-5 years old. What unscrupulous shops fail to realize is that statutes of limitation are not limited by time frames alone. Put another way, these repairs should not have failed or be required to be redone in under 1,000 miles. I strongly recommend avoiding this business for major repairs. For minor repairs, e.g. under $500, should you experience failures due to poor workmanship, you can simply move on to a more reliable and honest auto repair facility. However, should repairs require thousands of dollars as in this case ($7,910 - ref attached invoices), again, I strongly suggest researching other options (I want back to another shop right up the street, owned by the same family for over 40 years). read more

I went in for an oil change, and while they did provide a complimentary inspection, I was shocked by the price they quoted: $1,200+ for a back brake replacement and the oil change. When I declined, they came back with a reduced offer of $1,000, but even that seemed outrageously high. They claimed I needed to replace my rotors and brake pads, which I knew wasn't necessary because my rotors were fine. I ended up paying over $300 for the oil change alone (the most expensive I've ever had!) and took my brakes to another shop. There, they confirmed my rotors were fine, and I only needed new brake pads, which cost me $300. If you're a young woman who they might assume doesn't know much about cars, I'd be cautious about going here. I wouldn't recommend them based on my experience. read more

My husband and I were referred here two years ago. At the time the gentleman at the front was a little eccentric and not our cup of tea but the service performed was good. We came back recently as the brakes were horrendous. A new gentleman, John, was super kind and informative and was excellent with communication. I am a returning customer and my second experience was a drastic difference. My first time with fox was efficient , friendly, thorough and affordable ! I scheduled and apt today for the same service I received in march 2022. A full synthetic oil change. They greeted me with friendly customer service but to my surprise a HUGE change in price!!! My previous oil change was $60.14 (labor included) !! This time the receptionist said it was going to be $90.00 ! I viewed the price and asked why the price difference. He response was "inflation". That's over $40 for the same service!! I understand inflation but that's a DRASTIC price increase. Even with inflation !!! I decided to call around and found $65 price else where. I would have liked to be a loyal client and have more services worked on but I don't see how , when the prices fluctuate so dramatically. read more

Wow! So impressed with this Auto Care Company!! I leased a Land Rover 18 months ago. It's the first car I've had that doesn't have service included. So I was totally shocked when I took it in six months early for my 21 month Service only to find that the cost was $997. I left with my car and the next week I got indicators that both my washer fluid and coolant were low. I found fox auto care on yelp and gave them a call. I explained what had happened and then I just wanted to get new fluid. I was told by Savannah to bring the car over right away... And they would do it for me. However I was at my parents house and said I will call in the morning. I called the next day and spoke to a gentleman, I didn't get his name. But, he said bring your car over now! I drove over was surprised at how nice their waiting room was. I explained my story once again and he said no problem took my car back topped off my fluids, gave my car a once over, shook my hand , and I was on my way! Holy shit! I'm a customer for life. I also inquired about prices for oil changes and a few other things and they were more than reasonable. I'm just blown away about how kind every employee I interacted with was. I should've grab cards to hand out to all my friends!! So once those cars are out of warranty... Fox is a place for you! Or, do you have to pay your own way at your dealer... Don't! When my car died on me and I had to have it emergency towed to a nearby location I wasn't expecting much beyond basic auto care and to be overcharged. Not only did they take a free look at my engine problems, but when they knew I was going to have to replace it - they forwarded me to a personal contact at the Kia dealership who set me up BEAUTIFULLY. Not only that, because I was traveling for work and didn't have time to arrange for a quick tow. They were gracious enough to let me store my car there for a few days out front where the tow truck had left it without being able to move. Where, at some point during the middle of the night, a vandal broke my window. Without even discussing 1st they replaced it for free!!! Jacki and Reuben were a life saver during an auto catastrophe that couldn't have been worse timing. I can't thank them enough for their stellar customer care, attention to detail, and willingness to help as much as possible (and I wasn't even technically a customer)! Please read the whole story if you consider this shop for your car. I went there for my Mercedes C300 because they looked great in Google review. It may not be applied to all people. but they are basically ridiculous and mislead certain customers seriously. Be careful. My 6 year old car engine light was on in sudden, and I looked for a local mechanic since my warranty was expired. I called this mechanic and asked if they could handle engine issues for Mercedes in general. The guy on the phone confidently said YES. I trusted him. He showed up their German computer based diagnostic system and performed it to my car, and said it was crankcase ventilation malfunction. The guy at the front desk told me clearly this issue with my mileage and model year would be covered by manufacturer warranty specifically under emission warranty executed by State of California. I told him I did not want to make another travel and scheduling, and told him I willed to pay the cost to fix it here if it made sense. He tried to pass the topic for some reason by unclearly telling me ballpark of the cost (he said "like $1300 or something") and asked me the reason why I wanted to spend money that could be covered by warranty, which literally made me trust them and made me go to a dealership. They ended up not fixing any of my core issue but said they found other minor issue that I had not even aware of, which costed about $800. I thought they saved a lot of my money that could cost for the engine issue, so it was worth to take it and paid $800 to fix it, which might have not been even needed. As they guided me, I called Mercedes dealership, schedule another appointment for this and made another travel to be there and spent almost half day to deal with this. As a result, the Mercedes dealership basically said crankcase ventilation malfunction IS NOT COVERED BY EMISSION WARRANTY AND NOT EVEN CLOSE. And it costed over $4000 to fix it at the dealership. I decided to fix this issue here otherwise I had to drive my car with the engine light on over 80 miles to go back and forth between home and the cheating mechanic and my office and Mercedes dealership, which could cause more issue they said. Here I wonder how the guy at the front desk in Fox Auto Care was so sure and confident of his statement to me. I assume either they were not capable of fixing it so at least they tried to make some money out of my visit, or he honestly told me a wrong information that wasted my time, money, effort, and trustworthy. I usually try not to write bad feedback to small business because it impacts their biz. But SERIOUSLY this shop is not worth to be there for customers who are looking for affordable solutions with trust. If FOX Auto Care owner disagrees with what I am saying here, you must bring me evidence and legal documents that explain crankcase ventilation malfunction should be covered by manufacturer warranty that fairly allows me to claim the Mercedes dealership I fixed my engine from. read more

Patrick and the receptionists were very kind, generous, adaptable, and efficient! They changed my light bulb for free which only took 5-10 minutes and fit it in their schedule. I called for a quote and was told by the receptionist, "you need to bring your car in so we can look at it and tell you how much." I gave her my car's year, make and model. I asked if she couldn't give me a quote for both types of oils? She said no, bring it in tomorrow. I said, lady all I need is a quote for an oil change that's all. She was rude. She said, we are not Jiffy LUBE. Like dahh! If I wanted Jiffy LUBE I would have called them. They wanted to have me there so they can say, you need this and this. I have had excellent service performed on my vehicles at Fox Auto. The work is done correctly and reasonably priced. I have low mileage older vehicles (10 plus years old) so parts sometimes takes a while, but the work is done promptly. One noteworthy comment of honoring their service is an issue I had on my vehicle. I had my front left axle shaft fail on my vehicle that was replaced just 2 months earlier (Audi A4). Not sure of the cause of the failure, but Fox Auto replaced the axle and engine mount (damage due to axle flailing about) under warranty "free of charge"! When I found myself in need of car repair and not sure where to go (my ex was the one who repaired my car) I was worried I'd be taken advantage of because I don't know too much about cars. I've heard many stories about women being taken advantage of in car shops and I wasn't sure what to do. My pastor suggested going to Fox Auto Care and said they know what they are doing and will take the time to help me understand what needs to be done and won't fix things that don't need to be fixed just to charge me more. He was right! I'm SO glad I went and will only trust them with my car. Jackie at the front desk is SO great! When my battery was dead she talked me through getting it jumped and then told me to go back to where I got the battery (prior to knowing about FAC) and instructed me in what I needed to say to get my battery replaced. It may not seem like a huge deal to someone who knows about cars, but for someone who doesn't this was a HUGE help! I love that I can call Jackie and know she won't have me bring my car in just to get a few extra bucks. Everyone is friendly and truly cares about their customers. Not to mention Ken took time out of his day to show me how to put air in my tires (I told you I don't know much about cars). I'm so impressed, again and again. I began coming to Fox because I worked nearby, and kept coming because of their honesty and friendliness. I am a vulnerable customer who knows NOTHING about cars. They could pull the wool over my eyes and I'd have no clue. FOUR times, I or a family member had visited Fox worried about an issue only to be told it's nothing to worry about. My daughter took her "new-to-her" used Honda Element there for an inspection, after not trusting an Aliso Viejo place that told her all sorts of things required fixing. It was worth the drive to Santa Ana to get a second opinion. Only ONE of the EIGHT things they'd "strongly" recommended fixing were valid. She got out of Fox for $80 instead of the $1000+ the other place wanted. These are good people who deserve your business. If you don;t live or work nearby, it's still worth the drive. I've been having transmission problems for about a year now, however the car was driveable. Of course, I only brought in my vehicle after I was required to smog it and you will not pass in California with a check engine light on. I brought in my vehicle to the good people of Fox Auto Care and was worried about needing a rebuild or having to replace the transmission. Fortunately, my worry was misplaced inasmuch as I only had blockage inside the transmission. Nevertheless, any transmission repair is usually very costly and difficult to repair. However, Fox treated me well. I should also note that the air conditioning on my vehicle had been out for about two years, and I had not brought it in sooner because the last two vehicles where the air had gone out I was quoted at about $1k each time. Ken repaired both the transmission and the air expeditiously and Jackie was great at explaining the problem and solution. So far, I am very impressed with the service, price and attention that was given to both me and my vehicle. I've already referred two other people to Fox Auto, but after this repair will be referring many more! I really can't find anything negative to say about them or their work, and they will definitely be my "go-to" for major automotive repairs. read more

As a first year member of AAA Plus, I was surprised to receive a coupon for a "free 40-point inspection". I chose this vendor because the reviews were great. The facility is clean, you even get a photo report on your phone. BUT The guys suggested me a maintenance for almost $2000 for my VW Jetta which I didn't need. 1) They suggested to replace rotors, a caliper, and pads for $900. When I started asking questions I realized that only front pads need to be replaced. My caliper is in a perfect shape and requires a slight lubrication. My rotors are in a perfect shape as well (VW suggests to replace them at 19mm, but I'm having 21.8 mm now). How did I know that? I double checked the brakes myself. 2) According to the maintenance spec, I supposed to change a timing belt and a water pump, but that could be done at a 100,000 miles. Anyway, even VW dealership agreed to change for this labor way cheaper. Conclusion? Thank you, Fox Auto Care, for trying to rip me off. I found another store with honest guys that triple checked my breaks for free. They confirmed that the rotors are fine, and my caliper needs lubrication and pads need to be changed. They gave me a reasonable price for their service. When I asked why they didn't charge me for inspection, which took 15 minutes, they said they are for a long run in the automotive business. After those words and honest approach, I want to support their business and will take my car there for as long as I'm living in this area. read more
