The most honest and knowledgeable firm you could wish for…read more A year ago, I hired Todd Grace to counsel my son and me on a major university matter that could have been expensive. I paid them a $1000 retainer, and we spent at least an hour discussing the issue and our options. One of the recommendations Todd made was to recruit a faculty representative to assist us, which we did. My son had a series of short phone calls with Todd, and Todd assisted us with the paperwork needed to assure the best possible outcome. Todd's recommendations were, as the Brits say, "spot on" - he really understands both the theory and the practice of OU policy and procedures. The outcome was, as he suggested, "the best possible, under the circumstances." I was aware that we had unlikely used all $1000 of our retainer, but the outcome was so good, and my 40-year business experience with other attorneys was so poor that I didn't expect a refund, and didn't request one. I once paid a New York attorney $20,000 to handle a case where $120,000 was at stake - he blew the service of the papers - and never refunded a dime. However, today, on the one year anniversary of our meeting with Todd, I received a letter with a check for $660, the unused portion of our retainer. You don't find more honorable and knowledgeable people in the law profession than Grace and McGee. If you need an attorney in the Athens area, HIRE THEM!

Todd was so personable and informative. He was able to work out a plan with my son on how they were going to proceed. I truly appreciate his knowledge, honesty and professionalism. The case went on for over six months, and I can honestly say, I do not think I could have successfully gone through the experience without the assistant of Attorney McPhail. Throughout the entire process she was professional, supportive, empathetic, and extremely knowledgeable. Basically everything you would want in a lawyer representing you. The case was quite complex, but her legal expertise ensured a favorable outcome. Attorney McPhail was always well prepared during our meetings and court hearings. She represented me with dignity, integrity, and confidence. She informed me every step of the way as to what to expect was able to explain complex legal matters into simple layman terms. She responded quickly to all of my phone calls, e-mails, and other correspondences. I truly felt like I was her most important client. She is incredibly detailed, organized, and focused. All I am sure where the key ingredients to the success of the case. Attorney McPhail listened closely to my concerns and desired outcomes. She then developed a plan of action and systematically executed her strategy. As is obvious, I am completely satisfied with my decision to selection Attorney McPhail to represent me. Not only was I completely satisfied with the outcome of the case, but was equally satisfied with working closely with her every step of the way. I would without hesitation recommend her to anyone requiring legal counsel, and particularly anyone in need of assistance with child custody and support issues.

I am shocked because I know if she treated me that way and I've known her for 10+yrs and sent her good business - I was flat out lied to and ignored; I understand now why I had heard people are not as apt to go to her and upset with her. I am very saddened by this incident and hope this helps someone else save their time and money.

If I could give negative stars I would. I could write a chapter and verse about how bad this firm…read moreis, so I'll try to keep it brief. Bill Summers was rude and argumentative on our very first meeting, insulting my son for not having an attorney on his first time in court, though we repeatedly explained he didn't have the money for one at the time. Summers kept repeating that things didn't go well because he didn't have an attorney, so he shouldn't complain about that first experience because it was all his fault. The next time we went to court(this is all to do with a cooked up, false DV in preparation to railroad my son during a divorce, mind you), we had his associate Dustin, who showed up looking disheveled, unkempt and had spent his morning chatting up the opposite side without the presence of my son. Then he went in that courtroom and basically peed his pants in front of Judge Steed, winning not a single point and didn't even try to. As the judge was wrapping up the proceedings, Dustin hops up in the first appearance of enthusiasm for the job and asks, "What about child support???!!!"....mind you, this was in a motion to modify a DV, not a divorce or custody hearing at all. The judge said she was wanting to decide that at the preliminary divorce hearing at a later date, but since he brought it up, she would set the child support for $735!!!! SINCE HE BROUGHT IT UP!!!! At a DV modification hearing. He was working for the OTHER SIDE, people. And he didn't get the DV modified at all, so the hearing did nothing but use up half our retainer and get my son slapped with child support earlier than he would have been. So, the next hearing Bill Summers was in attendance....he too was found chatting up the Other without the presence of his actual client(folks, she is not a bit attractive, so not sure why both men were so hot to make friendly with this person and actively work for her in this matter). He, too, wet himself in front of Judge Steed(these men are either born without a set of testicles or place them firmly in her purse as they enter the courtroom), also did nothing about or for the 4 children's best interest at all, sat there as the other side admitted they were NEVER afraid of my son and still didn't get the DV dismissed or modified, we did get 50/50 custody but he failed to then get the child support modified to fit that situation....actually, he failed to say or do anything to help my son's case. At all. My son has had to call and email them many times to get them to file things on time or to file motions at all, he's had to call and email repeatedly to get copies of court decisions and he's been charged each and every time they answer a call or email and they also charged him for sending these things to the opposite side(which is not their job to do, it's the court's). In conclusion, they've done nothing for the enormous retainer we scraped together to give them, they were rude and dismissive from the beginning and all the way through, they had to be driven like mules to do any work at all, and in court both men were as useless as teats on a boar. Incompetent, gutless, rude, lazy, unprofessional, seedy looking and avaricious are a few of the many negative words one can use about this firm. If you hire them, don't say you weren't fully warned.
