Fleur De Lis Beach Resort - Pool

Fleur De Lis Beach Resort

This is a long post, but hope it helps anyone considering the Fleur…read more Our stay here in August '22 was our second year. We were so impressed with everything we just had to come back. Like everyone else has said, staff is very nice, from the front desk to the maids. Especially the latter, they even set my younger son's stuffies in different positions each day after making the beds, so it's become something he's fond of and wonders every day what they'll do next. They do come around very early -- by or before 9am when we're still making breakfast, hey we like to sleep in on vacation!! -- but I've never felt that they were put off by it, we just put the "service required" sign on the door, go to the beach, and it's always been very thoroughly cleaned by the time we come back for a late lunch. The room (type "E") was on the 3rd floor again as I had requested the year before, and they even moved us down closer to the shore end of the building as I'd requested this year! These rooms are very nice as you can see in the site pictures. But it's the things you wonder about, whether they are as good as you could hope -- double beds are super comfortable (memory foam it seems, with good support for my creaky back), AC/ventilation is great in both front and bed rooms (we keep the fan running as my wife and me are used to fans and the noise helps us and the boys get to and stay asleep). Bath is great, never had problems with water/temp/pressure, and even though it's a little cramped it's still fine. Plenty of towels! Clean! Nice hardware! They provide plenty of pans/pots/utensils for making basic stuff, but I suggest bringing your own metal grill spatula and tongs to save having to borrow one from the front desk each time (which they happily will do). Their grills are great. The cooktops in the rooms work great too, and the fridge is plenty big enough to hold everything we need for a week. They provide both keurig and drip coffee makers (including the paper filters), just bring your own coffee. Nice big LG TV screen with DirectTV, plenty of channels, but who needs TV when there's the most beautiful beach, wonderful salt water pool, bike rental just a couple blocks away, several restaurants nearby, and that fantastic boardwalk a few more blocks away. The MonsterCone ice cream truck always visits the block each night, best (and reasonably priced!) ice cream you'll find other than Kore Bros on the boardwalk. For breakfast or lunch, the Tangiers across the street is really good. The Crusader next door is also decent. I love Mexican/tex-mex, so several short blocks away is Bandanas, HIGHLY recommended. For frou-frou food, I hear Alosi's at the Pan American a couple blocks up is nice (but expensive). The Do-Wop breakfast/lunch joint is also within walking distance, not to be confused with the Do-Wop restaurant on the boardwalk (which is really good btw). So, now for the ONLY thing I've had an "issue" with when staying at the Fleur the past two years mid-August: there is a group of families who've rented out several first floor rooms, and they seem to stay at the hotel all day in the pool area, drinking and having "fun", but they just take it over. And several of them set up and play cornhole on the sidewalk right next to the parking where our car was, drinking the whole day long... I changed from second week of August last year to third week this year, and they were still there anyway.... The mid-sized pool (which includes a cool spiral water slide for the kiddo's) is so crowded throughout the day by them that my boys don't want to go in. We look longingly at the near-empty Nassau or Tangiers pool across the way and have started thinking... But none of this stuff is the Fleur's fault at all. Just timing, and you can't choose your co-guests. So are there better motels to stay for the price and quality? Maybe. I've read/heard the Aquarius is pretty nice/competitive, and the nearby Starlux is also top-rate (it's a Morey's motel after all), both of those are further up on the boardwalk stretch to boot. I love love love the Jolly Roger (I stayed right down Palm Road from it as a kid in the late 60's and always went to their movie night!). Maybe it's a better deal, and the Tenaglia's are a fantastic family-owner business, but it's further down the Crest. Not so much of a biggie since there's the Jitney Surfer shuttle to the boardwalk if you don't want to drive (and who really wants to), but it is an older property with commensurate "issues" like in-wall A/C that may not cool both rooms as well, quirky retro-deco you might not like... whatever. Bottom line, you really can't go wrong staying here. It's a great stay, and the beach location is perfect. Really hard-pressed to find a better place than this. I'm getting the feeling we might try some place else, say "Meh", and just come back to the Fleur.

Starlux Hotel - 2queen beds

Starlux Hotel

I'd have to say, I truly have no complaints about this hotel…read more Upon arrival Starlux was easy to find due to its eccentric design and decor. I was happy to find that the starlux has their own parking lot with free and adequate parking. Check in was simple and straightforward. The lady at the front let us know that everything we see out was free to use. Beach towels, boogie boards, sand toys, bikes, kids helmets and complimentary tea and coffee. I only wish we had known this earlier because it would of saved us packing alot of things! We had room 304. To get to the floor there was an elevator and stairs inside as well as an outdoor circular stair case. The room itself was small. It consisted of two queen beds, a bathroom, dresser, mini fridge, microwave and desk. The whole front of the room was a glass window that does not open, overlooking the street, but not the water. The only window in the whole room was in the bathroom. They have an ac unit, but no ceiling fans. The room itself got pretty stuffy due to poor air circulation. I would suggest bringing a small fan. The bathroom was stocked with lots of towels, neutrogena soap and lotions as well as shampoo and conditioner. Everything was suprising clean. The oddest thing was the small wall that jutted out a few inches from the toilet, making it a tight squeeze. The hotel also has a decent sized pool with a hot tub. We did not use them but we had a nice view of them from our balcony. They also have a small game room and laundry facilities. All in all, I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Wildwood.

It's also walkable to several restaurants, but note that many are closing for the off-season. Bedsheets and towels were clean. Lights and blinds were a little dusty. Facilities, particularly the bathroom, were a bit dated, but everything was exactly as advertised - our room looked just like the pictures on their website. Water pressure and temperature in the shower were good. There was no fan in the bathroom for ventilation, but there was a window. Toiletries were minimal, but they did have mini shampoo, lotion, and make-up wipes. The room also had a small tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, iron, and hairdryer. There was also a room safe. Walls were thin. You can definitely hear noise from the surrounding rooms. We heard knocking from the room above us and could also hear when they dropped something on the floor. I would say our room was also poorly lit. There were some good amenities - WiFi, outdoor pool, free parking, bikes, and beach chairs. There's also a complimentary coffee/tea machine available 24/7 and a juice machine (the juice dispenser is not on 24/7, but is a nice offering when available - apple, orange, cranberry, and strawberry kiwi). There was also a toaster available in the break area (but BYO bread). There's a small indoor rec area near the pool, which has a billiards table (pool cue sticks and balls are available at the front desk). It's a good little hangout spot since there's not a lot of space in the room. Our room had a small desk and one chair - not a lot of other seating options besides the bed. They do offer bigger suites with a kitchenette, etc. When the weather is nice, there's a pop-up coffee trailer, Kohrs Bros ice cream shop, and the Starlux mini golf course (not included with your stay) next door. Staff was friendly - shoutout to Anna who helped us get checked in. Starlux met our needs and the location was great for going to the beach and exploring Wildwood - it's also much more affordable and less congested than Cape May.

My boyfriend and his family have been staying here for a long, long time - at least 20 years…read morethey've been coming in the month of June, for a week. Every. Year. I've experienced this tradition two times so far, and now I'm starting to get infected. This place is really wonderful. It's in an awesome location on the beach, and its in just the right area to avoid the noise and hassle of being by the boardwalk. During the day, leave your door wide open, and let the sea breeze in. Sit on the balcony, read, and listen to the ocean. When you feel like, go lay on the sand, then swim in their pool for as long as you'd like. I'm not a huge pool person but I love swimming in this pool because the water is so clear, and deep and the right temperature. It's very approximate to everything, including great restaurants, and a bike rental place. You can bike down to the boardwalk in the morning, which is also a great, fun thing to do. The rooms themselves are just right. The beds and linens/comforter could be softer, but they clean it everyday and the bathroom is nice. The TV gets a lot of channels and the AC can get very, very cold! They also include a mini-fridge, microwave, and a large, large dresser, along with a little table. The room, no matter the size, is packed with things. They also have a grill on the premise and one time we cooked for ourselves. This place has everything and its just the right price. It's clean, family friendly, close to the beach. I think the fact that my boyfriend's family has been returning for longer than I've been alive can attest to this place.

It feels newer and cleaner. The guest rooms are spacious and bright. Both Towers have a pool, but the Ocean Tower side has a DJ on the weekend with cabanas for rent. My sister rented one for my brother-in-law's milestone birthday and we had a blast. The pool is kid friendly and gets quite busy on the weekends. They offer a small food menu with soft drinks. You're welcome to bring your own adult beverages (which you KNOW we did)! That being said, it's pricey and they are not particularly accommodating about checking into your room early. We feel they could be a little more flexible on this front. If it's not 4:00 PM (or close to it) then you're not getting the keys. If you want to pay $50, then your room is miraculously ready (but not before noon). Checking in at 3:00 PM should not constitute a fee. Just sayin'. More than I've paid in major cities for a four star hotel. Room? Bugs in the bathroom. Shower. Curtain fell apart when I moved it. The fan in the bathroom makes a lot of noise. You'd think, just turn it off, right? Nope. Can't. Tv, three remotes and you still couldn't turn the freakin thing on. I know what you'll say, it's the Jersey Shore. I get it but to charge that much for that little is sad. It's gouging, you've got a convention, raise prices. Parking is an absolute joke. Then at Checkout they asked for a rubber bracelet back (used for transport van) I left it in the room. Also wanted some towel card which I found in their envelope, good thing because they charge you if you don't turn it in. I'd rather drive off the island and stay at a chain where I'm still disappointed, but for 1/4 the price.
