Who knew that furniture disassembly and reassembly was a thing? I certainly didn't until I treated…read moremyself to an extra cozy Boston Interiors sectional and the sofa portion wouldn't fit up my front or back staircase. Whoops! I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

Today, looked for a pair of New Balance sneakers and the salesman was not selling, he was having a lengthy and loud political discussion with a woman - hard to tell if she'd come in to shop or stump for a political party. It got too irritating to listen and before I left I excused myself and indicated that maybe it wasn't the best time or place for a protracted political discussion as it impacted service. The salesman (who made a point during the lengthy discussion that he had gone to the most expensive college in the country because his father was rich, but agreed that it was unfair), said "well , that's YOUR opinion". No, that's YOUR lost sale. Wonder if his response would be the same if he owned the place....

While prices are reasonable and the brands of good quality, I struggled to find something suitable for someone under the ago of, say, 60. However, this is Cape Cod, and a major chunk of the year-round population (especially in these parts) is of that vintage. So, Westies knows their audience, and they stick with it. From Dansko to Fit Flop to Sketchers, you'll find comfort is the mainstay, and support another. While the stock is clearly self-service, there are always a few people working there, tidying and manning the front desk.
