Unfortunately, my experience with the travel agent who organized the trip was very disappointing. At the beginning, communication was fine, but as we asked more detailed questions, her tone became increasingly impatient. In one email, she wrote, "Dana, let's try this again and let me explain this again to you," which I found unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. There were also some important communication issues. Our group of 14 was not informed about a $60-per-person port tax. We didn't learn about it until four or five days into the cruise when the cruise director announced it. The travel agent told us she was unaware of the charge, but I feel an experienced travel professional should make every effort to communicate additional costs to clients. More concerning was her behavior during the cruise. I personally witnessed her tell a member of our group to "fuck off" during an argument. The other woman was intoxicated and was yelling at her, so I understand that it was a difficult situation, but I still felt that response was inappropriate for someone acting as the travel professional for our group. I also personally witnessed her discussing members of our group with other people in the group, which I found unprofessional and uncomfortable. The London portion was also frustrating. My friend and I had planned London separately, but the travel agent decided to join us for part of the trip. She arranged a hotel breakfast without discussing whether we wanted it, booked a walking tour even though we had told her we preferred the Big Bus tour, and arranged a hotel garden tour that we had already indicated we weren't interested in. When we ultimately couldn't make the garden tour, her response was that it was "quite embarrassing" that we weren't attending. Those interactions made me feel that our preferences weren't really being heard or respected. What I found most disappointing was the lack of follow-up. Throughout the cruise, she never checked in with the group to ask how everyone was doing or whether there were any issues. Even after we returned home, there was no message asking whether everyone got home safely or how we felt about the trip. I want to emphasize that Croatia was beautiful and the cruise itself was an amazing experience. My disappointment is specifically with the travel-agent service. I expected professionalism, respectful communication, attention to the group's needs, and follow-through. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and I would not use this travel agent again.

One that stood out was an ICAR charge for 35 days, which did not make any sense since I was to be in Australia for only 23 days. They never even explained to me what ICAR was. I started itemizing my expenses on a spreadsheet. Now, I had no illusions that I'd match the quoted price exactly, but the travel package they quoted me was about $5000 more than what it would be if I booked everything myself. The last straw was when I asked that my Kuranda Scenic Railway ticket be upgraded to Gold Class. That would have added $150 to my package. Their revised quote added $1463! With time running out, I ended up booking everything myself. I have to conclude that either Travel2 and/or Time of Your Life are inept or they are dishonest and were padding the bill. If any of you are working with them, I'd suggest you carefully double check their quote by seeing how much it would cost you if you booked everything yourself.

10 Years of Loyalty, Thousands of Dollars Spent, and AAA Couldn't Care Less…read more After 10 years as a AAA member, with six drivers on my account and thousands of dollars spent on roadside services, towing, and replacement batteries, I've finally learned how little AAA values its longtime customers. Last October, I purchased a replacement battery through AAA with what was represented as a three-year warranty. Less than a year later, AAA is refusing to honor the warranty because, according to them, the vehicle wasn't driven enough. Seriously? Apparently, AAA expects its customers to drive their vehicles a certain amount to qualify for a battery warranty. I was also told that these warranty conditions were provided to me at the time of purchase. They were not. What makes this experience particularly infuriating isn't simply the refusal to honor the warranty. It's the astonishing level of indifference I've encountered while trying to resolve the issue. I've spoken with AAA customer service, their roadside assistance division, and ultimately an escalation manager. Every attempt to get someone to take responsibility or offer a reasonable resolution has been met with the same response: absolutely nothing. Not one person seemed particularly interested in retaining a customer who has maintained a membership for a decade and brought AAA considerable business through six family drivers. I finally informed AAA that I would be canceling my membership at the end of the current term. You would think losing a longtime customer might prompt someone to reconsider. Apparently, AAA couldn't care less. Even their escalation manager demonstrated no interest in resolving the complaint. Here's what AAA has taught me: A three-year battery warranty means remarkably little when the company finds a reason not to honor it. And 10 years of customer loyalty mean even less. I used to believe AAA was a reputable organization that stood behind its products and services. This experience has completely changed my opinion. If you're considering purchasing a battery from AAA, I strongly suggest reading every word of the warranty and getting every condition in writing before handing over your money. Don't assume a three-year warranty means three years of protection. As for their customer service, my experience has been nothing short of disgraceful. It's difficult to imagine a company doing a worse job of handling a legitimate customer complaint. AAA has lost a 10-year member and six drivers over its refusal to resolve a battery warranty dispute. Congratulations, AAA. You've managed to turn a relatively inexpensive battery warranty issue into the permanent loss of a loyal customer. One star is one star too many.
